Elemental Survivors

this one shocked me. gonna praise but first. there's a bit of bad polish with the game locking up for me and not reading my mouse very well. However it's got a neat idea of building a jrpg party as it's biggest draw. other party members aren't as good as you but mixing them in the right way gives to bigger and better combos of systems interlocking. well I can't praise the art too much the music is actually not bad. I do wish we had a few more tracks and said tracks didn't always play in the same order. but this is pretty fun and something I want to explore more

Ok, some promise. First run done, didn't beat 20 min boss. But I see things. Your first run will feel underwhelming, like...not...good. But a hunk of the unlocks are cheap enough that you'll very quickly get a stew goin'. Then you'll have an idea of whether you like the game or not. It's a survivors-like, you unlock things like 'ultimate' forms of items and (hopefully, probably? maybe? I might tell you when I get more into it) synergies. The first run or two....maybe consider checking 'upgrade' prices, and just live long enough to grab some of the essentials, it seems like then it'll really start to unfold some.

Vampire Survivors clone with RPG elements (you can even recruit people to fight with you in levels). plenty of unique weapons to get, different worlds to explore and unlock. lots of achievements. recommended, but temper your expectations.

Run around like wild. Never played the game that prompted it, but it's a fun way to lose an hour or two.

I think it's a good framework for a great survivor-like. Game seems abandoned though. Don't count on getting your full-fledged game.

Elemental Survivors is a survivors-like game with a retro JRPG aesthetic. Visually, it looks great — the pixel art is colorful and vibrant, giving the game a nostalgic yet modern feel. As you progress, shops or towns start appearing on the map. In shops, you can buy items, and in towns, you can recruit companions who will assist you in battle. The in-game currency, Zil, is earned during runs and can be used to purchase items or unlock permanent upgrades between sessions. Overall, it’s a decent game. It seems to have been abandoned and likely won’t receive future updates, but it still offers a fair amount of content (unlockable characters and new areas) and also a lot of achievements.
