So I bought a game called Axiom of Maria. I started playing. I played for three hours and the game ended with the message "Thank you for playing the prologue" BUT the problem is that there was no mention of a prologue. Not on the Steam page or in the game description. What prologue? I bought a finished game. I decided to see what the community was writing about it. And they wrote the following. It turns out that the developer is gradually releasing the game in parts. First the prologue. Then the first chapter, the second and the third. But again, there is not a word about this on the Steam page. What else interesting things are they writing. They are gradually releasing the first chapter in 2024. Now they are already planning for 2025. Will it come out? I don't know. The length of individual chapters is planned to be the same as the prologue. Will it be the same? I don't know. The price of each chapter will be the same as the prologue. I have no doubt about that. It will be so. Why didn't the developer indicate that this is a prologue...? I have two assumptions. 1. Nothing will happen. 2. Greed. I strongly do not recommend the game. Until they change the name on the Steam page and indicate that this is a prologue and three more chapters are planned for an additional fee. P.S. So that there are no questions about the prologue. He is cool. Nice music. nice gameplay. and chic design. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p11caYtUBsE
I really want to recommend this. I do. It's a good game. It looks fantastic, and it's quite fun at times. The upgrade/software system is well thought-out, and I like being able to hot swap in the middle of gameplay. However, I just... I sadly can't really recommend this game because I know too many people will feel like it's unfinished and broken. The controls can be quite janky at times. Wall-running, combat at times, and in the game's climax especially. It's not unplayable. It's just sometimes infuriating. The story lost a bit in translation, sadly. Some things happen almost out of nowhere. It all relatively makes sense, but then there were sudden characters that the protagonist was talking about who I had no idea existed before then. All in all, it's worth $10 or less if you want to experience it. I think with a lot more finesse, the other parts of this story could be fantastic.
I'm not sure if I'd recommend this. The plot is vague and hard to follow, although the characters do have enjoyable personalities; props to the voice actors for bringing Mr Jeong and Principal to life. Kay's not bad but she's more or less just your typical action lead without much in the way of a standout personality. She stands out with her tight leather outfit and white bob, at least. The combat's vague in terms of feedback and I'm not sure the systems are doing what they're supposed to do. It feels like I'm just mashing buttons. It's also a shame that the platforming elements like the wall-running and wall-jumping are kept separately from the combat and don't factor into your combat moves despite you playing as a cyberpunk ninja. Even outside of that, wall jumping isn't that delightful because you only use it in context-specific locations and you can't trigger it on any old wall. Rather minimises the possibilities of the platforming elements.
I can't believe this is made by a solo dev! This is genuinely a great game. Smooth & flashy combat, interesting level design, love the graphics & setting, complex (for me) but VERY interesting story and AMAZING music. I played it in English voice acting and the voice acting is also really good. The skill/level system is also really interesting. If you love character action and/or action-adventure games I can't recommended it enough. I found this game by accident through Google and I'm so glad I did. I can't wait for the other chapters to be released.
A good-looking melee action game that constantly varies things up. The levels are played through in a linear order, but the layouts will often loop back to the start or some central part as you progress. Combat doesn't reach DMC or Ninja Gaiden heights, but is pretty solid and its own thing rather than a copy of some specific game. The flashy dodging and wallrunning and exploration puzzles were highlights for me. There is some jank (especially the motorbike section feels floaty) and the plot is mostly happening via radio, making it hard for me to fully grasp/engage with during my first playthrough. It's pretty short, but my playtime is slightly under what you should expect - I played the demo through twice so could rush through the part covered there. I feel like I got my money's worth and I'd like to see more from this developer.
This game deliver simple story, easy gameplay, amazing graphics, stunning visuals and tons of awesome details go for it 👍
One of the best ways to get me to enjoy a game is making me feel like a badass. This game makes me feel like a badass. It strikes hard on one of the oldest tenets of gaming, making you feel *cool.* Buy it. I know I'll buy the next one.
It's short, but a charming and entertaining experience.
Recommending this as an impressive game from a small dev that punches above its weight and hits its marks for the most part. I'm looking forward to a more fleshed-out experience in the follow up. The visuals are fantastic, both the graphics on display and overall visual design. The cyberpunk influences are obvious but it has its own distinct twists on the formula. There were quite a few spots I stopped to just rotate the camera and take in the scene, and a couple of eye-popping set pieces in the end. The music was a bit offbeat, as was the English voice acting. The performers were fine (and pro actors) but the directing was maybe a little quirky - if anything it added to the overall charm. Combat is fun but takes some getting used to compared to other hack-and-slash games, to me it feels a lot like Shinobi and Kunoichi on PS2 without the aerial moves (for the most part). Fights can play out pretty differently depending on the powers you have equipped, especially the larger hordes and bosses in the last act. There were a couple of glitches that forced me to reload but the game saves so often they weren't much of a bother. I don't really factor price vs playtime in my purchases but knowing it's a big deal to some, I'll say the game IS pretty short - I saw credits in less than 5 hours and I wasn't exactly rushing. With the power-ups you acquire, initially it seems like a metroidvania but you only use them a few times at most. On the other hand, a time attack mode did unlock after I rolled credits, and there are a few achievements left to hunt.
Needs some more work but it's not that bad of a game.
