Eggcelerate! is a silly yet very challenging time-trial racing game where you try over and over again to improve your time without dropping an egg.

Got this to cover it for 2022's Indie Racers Festival, but it'd been sitting on my wishlist for a hot minute so I probably would've ended up here anyway. Solid physics puzzler that outlines the basics right up front and escalates things just quickly enough to keep you on your toes without feeling unbeatable. Things get a little pressing in the late levels as they're fairly long compared to the quick hit early challenges, but they're easy enough to break down into practice-able sections as you get better at just cruising through one or two parts before hitting another brief wall. I still have a ways to go before truly "gitting gud," as a look at my achievements are a testament to, but I'm looking forward to picking up the follow-ups with different settings.
amazing game and amazing on hands dev, the games takes some getting use too but after you adjust (in my own view) i want too strive to beat the best times. well well worth the price and time, look forward to more games from tim. great game man
Eggcelerate! is fun but VERY challenging. The North Pole addition is even more challenge as the simple weather conditions of snow and ice add to the to difficulty factor. I like how you can use either WASD or the Arrow Keys to drive and the simple press of "R" to restart in case you screw up and/or create chaos by throwing your egg all over the place. Graphics are typical for an indie game but, are still beautiful in their own way within how they are applied. I can appreciate that a lot. There are some areas where you can see some issues where paths have very small gaps but nothing crazy. I only saw it on the level near the beginning with the big loop of torture. (lol) I also enjoyed the added collectibles, secrets/hints off track, and much more that give you a reason to keep playing (i.e Achievements). The variety of vehicles is a great option to have turned on too for it keeps it interesting instead of having the same vehicle over and over again. Overall, it's a great game to burn some time and the price for the bundle is perfect for what you are getting. I can't wait for Eggcelerate! to the Tropics. Great job to Tim and his team. Keep up the hard work!
In short, very fun, quick game, with great depth. +++Fun! +Good Physics simulation, great controls. +Quick matches, very quick reset. 20-40 seconds per track, press R to instantly restart. +Great difficulty curve. (Getting a passable track time is easy, getting close to the leader of the on-line leaderboard is very difficult.) +/- Single dev; the game still has some bugs, but the dev if _very_ responsive. I posted a bug to his stream, and have gotten and instant response. -I'd like more variety. The tracks are varied, there are plenty of interactive elements, but I'd like more vehicles and modes of play. +++The dev documented his development, design and business strategy in a live stream. Excellent transparency and insight into starting publishing games. (Also, bias warning: I did watch and talked to the dev prior to purchasing this game, but bought it out of my own money.)
A delightfully goofy and infuriating time attack obstacle course where you have to balance an egg on top of your car while driving through increasingly elaborate and treacherous tracks. Can be frustrating at times because it's so easy to drop your egg. Min/maxing takes decent skill with racing lines and precise control, and more than anything perseverance. Some levels make you choose between going fast and playing risky or playing VERY slowly. If you're the kind of person who doesn't have the patience to go slow you'll find completing the game fairly difficult, but also very rewarding once you do. I'm the kind of person who gets frustrated fairly easily, and while this game can definitely get me worked up, it's too goofy for me to stay mad. Overall I'd say it's definitely worth picking up if only because it's a fresh take on the time attack genre with plenty of hilarious ways to fail. And I hope you're ready for egg puns, because you'll be reading a lot of egg puns.
I'm a big fan of easy-to-learn but hard-to-master games. This is the most fun I have had with a game in a long time. The car controls are optimized for you to break as many eggs as possible. You have to grind your way through it and eventually, you will break an egg right before the finish line. You will want to quit. Don't! Fight the urge. You will finish. After finishing the first few tracks, you will get addicted. Now finishing isn't enough. You have to be the best. You WILL be the best. PS: No chicks were harmed in the making of this review.
They say you lose 90% of your eggs by the time you turn 30. Well in this game that is certainly true. But at least you will have fun doing so.
Game is challenging as heck, but you get good if you keep trying and improve your times, lots of replayability for this reason, first the goal is to just beat the level and unlock the next one until you've unlocked all, then you try to beat the Dev times (which are very difficult to beat), then you try to get rank 1 in the leaderboard ( I havent achieved this yet ^^ ) The car movement feels real good, and you can do some pro moves by bouncing the egg off the car and back into the basket, playing with controller is a must, I use the Nintendo Pro Controller myself. I liked the base game but the eggpansion is way better imo, Im a fan of sliding on the snow/ice and new mechanics like the train, if only I had a SteamDeck to play this on my commute :'(
Super fun game. It's easy to learn but difficult to master. The tracks are relatively short and you can restart instantly, so failure isn't frustrating but it's rewarding when you succeed. I'd definitely recommend it for the price, it's time well spent. Also looking forward to the new release!
I am not a hardcore gamer but I'm a game developer and every once in a while I play short sessions of casual games. And honestly I'm not good at time limited trials and all but Eggcelerate feels good to play.
