About

Experience a stunningly detailed 3D recreation of the Supreme Court of Canada. From the grand courtroom to rarely seen chambers closed to the public, every corner holds history, and every story you uncover will shape the writer you become.

You play as a maintenance worker who also dreams of becoming an author, roaming the building at night in search of inspiration. As you make your way through the quiet halls, you hear mysterious echoes — fragments of conversations from citizens, attorneys, and judges whose lives once crossed here. These voices, along with scraps of paper and hidden mementos, reveal emotional and often surprising stories that become the seeds for the characters in your own novel.

Explore hidden areas of the Supreme Court not normally open to visitors.
Hear touching testimonials based on real events that changed Canadian rights and freedoms.
Learn about Canada’s legal and cultural history through intimate, human perspectives.

My thoughts on this game are mixed, but for the most part, I would say it succeeds at what it sets out to do. Language: As a quebecer, the default language of this game being french was a pleasant surprise. Which isn't to say non-bilingual players can't enjoy it, as I feel the echoes struck a good balance of both of Canada's official languages. Presentation: The atmosphere was also a welcome surprise: the calming music and simple gameplay loop allowed me to focus on the content of the echoes. Some might consider this boring, but I personally found it endearing. The author angle, while a bit bare-bones, offered a compelling reason to seek out the hidden echoes and pay attention to the ones already obtained. Visuals: The visuals were nice, although I believe they don't live up to the store's claims of "exploring hidden areas not normally open to visitors". A lot of areas are visible but completely inaccessible, and one room in the final night of the campaign is so basic in contrast to the rest that I suspect it was an extrapolation rather than a recreation. On another note, I have to praise the texture work in the judges' gallery, as all portraits are high enough resolution to make out their respective names. Bugs: I won't be too harsh in this regard, I'm aware that this is an amateur project, but some bugs disrupt the experience. For example, jumping over fences to access one of the aforementioned closed off areas will send you falling into the void until you reopen the game. Some of the puzzle entities also have very disjointed draggable areas, which had me thinking I was softlocked until I noticed my cursor reacting to an invisible area to the right. A hotfix for both of these issues would help the exprience. All in all, I do not regret the hour I spent on this game. While rough around the edges, I see the vision and can appreciate it for what it is.

Pretty neat as an art piece, not great as a game. It feels like something you'd have seen in the 2000s at a computer kiosk in a museum.
little 30 minute tour of the supreme court of canada with audio and written snippets of various people who have been in it's halls
Echoes of the Court was specifically created to explore and celebrate the history and role of the Supreme Court of Canada. It’s an immersive narrative video game developed by Affordance Studio and published by the University of Ottawa’s audiovisual platform, Jurivision. The game was launched in October 2025 to mark the 150th anniversary of the Supreme Court. Players step into the court building as a nighttime maintenance worker who dreams of becoming a writer, uncovering stories and hidden spaces that reflect Canada’s legal and cultural heritage. 🕰️ Playtime: ~1 hour. 🎧 Best with headphones. 🇨🇦 Bonus points if you’re Canadian—but you don’t have to be to feel the impact.
This was a cute game. I feel like there could be more done to make it fun as it has good bones but it's quite basic. Some of the items 'click' spots were quite off from where the item actually was. I appreciate how detailed the court is and how I knew what each room was for. This would be a great game to use for educators to help teach kids about The Supreme Court and make the court seem less scary and overwhelming. For what it is, it's a cute, 30-60 minute game to understand courts better, but there could be so much more added to be more interactive and inviting, as 10 minutes in, I felt a little bored.
super!
