Echo Point Nova

Echo Point Nova is incredibly fun and I highly recommend it to any FPS player. The movement is fast and fluid. The gunplay feels great and impactful. Style and precision are rewarded and a flow state is inevitable. The world is enjoyable to explore and navigate. The OST by Floating Door is absolutely amazing. I really cannot overstate how much I enjoyed this game. It's up there with my favorite FPSes of all time. It's an example of a video game in its purest form. Where fun is prioritized above all else (but not to the point where other aspects suffer). When a developer keeps asking "how can we make this more fun?" and responds "yes, and" to every idea. Some nitpicky criticisms I had: 1) The agility orbs were fun to collect for a while but became grindy to finish. Lowering the overall count would be appreciated. I do appreciate the Crackdown inspiration there though, I loved collecting those in that game. 2) The AI is laughable at times. Sometimes enemies will straight up ignore you or run away instead of fighting. I enjoyed the power fantasy the game presents but sometimes the AI is so weak that it starts to feel more like a shooting gallery rather than combat. 3) The guns don't feel particularly well balanced against each other. Why use a pump shotgun when the auto shotgun exists? The revolver is significantly better than every other pistol especially once you have Gunslinger and Tactical Reload. The Light 50 does more damage than the MR3006 but the bullet velocity is frustrating to use and subverts expectations (.50 BMG has higher muzzle velocity than 30-06 IRL). I get the game isn't meant to be realistic but it felt like lategame there was little reason to experiment with my loadout or equip different setups for different situations. 4) On that topic it's frustrating that Gun Game scans screw up your weapon selections and don't revert to your loadout prior to the scan. You have to go change them all back for any slot that didn't happen to land back on your original choice. 5) Some very very minor bugs: Sometimes fast traveling to Old City doesn't spawn the rock underneath you and you fall into the world below. One of the winter area scans (I'm sorry, I can't remember which one) spawns mechs in air and they fall off without engaging you. Please don't mistake my criticisms for dislike. This game is absolutely worth your money and time and will bring you hours of fun. I can see myself booting it up in the future just to blast enemies or hoverboard around the game world for fun.
