About
Step into the world of ECCLESIASTES: Mistress of Souls, a fast-paced, story-driven fighting game that blends open-world exploration with intense 1v1 combat. Players can freely traverse dark, war-torn realms, battle hordes of enemies in open zones, and face powerful nemeses in dramatic duel arenas. Every encounter tests skill, timing, and mastery of unique fighting styles
You play as ECCLESIASTES initially, a fierce warrior consumed by vengeance—her quest: to defeat the three nemeses who once betrayed her and shattered her soul. To face them, she must conquer their warlords, harvest Soul Stones, and summon each nemesis for a sacred duel.
Every victory binds her fallen foes to her will—transforming them into disciples who now fight by her side. Through cinematic cutscenes and in-game dialogue, the narrative unravels themes of power, redemption, and the price of control over the souls of others
Dual Combat Systems: Experience dynamic open-world skirmishes and 1v1 arena battles with fluid, skill-based combat mechanics.
Soul Slave System: Defeat nemeses to enslave their spirits and unlock them as playable disciples.
Story-Rich Experience: Discover lore through cutscenes, in-game dialogue, and hidden world events.
Exploration & Progression: Collect Soul Stones, upgrade combat abilities, and unlock new fighting techniques.
Multiple Battle Styles: Master Ecclesiastes’ evolving powers or command her growing army of fallen warriors.
Advance through a dark narrative by conquering enemies and absorbing their souls. Defeating each nemesis expands your roster and fighting depth, offering new moves, strategies, and story perspectives. As Ecclesiastes grows stronger, so does the weight of her vengeance—and the moral decay it brings

Recommended - it is a rough indie mix of 3D and 2D fighting modes. It is fun and that is all that matters. It seems to run pretty well on a potato. Its biggest downside is the limited content. I beat the game in 50 minutes. That makes quite a stiff price per hour. It is quite easy because the health pool in 3D stages is massive and the 2D stages are cheesed by longer range attacks. I got the game from the publisher Alienware from its monthly giveaway. There is a glitch where reaching a 2D stage right after beating the game will end up in a glitched up, soft-locked mode where neither of the characters can move. The names seem to be fixed to Ecclesiastes and "Mike" (?) for some reason. I take the "unlock new combat abilities" part refers to how you can perform special moves by charging up a special gauge by beating the enemies with physical attacks. The characters seem to be able to switch between the projectile attacks and the basic punch-kick combo moves. There are plenty of comic book pages as cutscene stills. This could be a comic based product. Or the comic is based on the game. There is a lot of input buffering going on in the game. It can still be executing the inputs you gave a second ago as if they were new. The "defense" mechanic is practically "hold R to not take damage." As long as you have it held when the strike connects, there is neither damage nor flinching.
Holy... If this is an early access project it should be tagged so instead of being sold as a complete game. From the comic sneak peeks I am guessing the comic artist is trying to bring their comic universe to life, which is really cool and the reason I won't leave a negative review, but there is a ton of work to be done here so the player doesn't get a bad impression from the get go. Here are the issues I encountered in my first 20 minutes. First of all, very basic, there is no Exit option on the menu, people has to kill the application by the task manager to close the game, not everyone knows how to do that, or should be expected to, create an exit option. Then proofread all the texts, the BIOS were obviously written by someone with dyslexia and were never proofread (2 times pices instead of pieces, seprate instead of separate and so on) they are almost unreadable, same issues with further dialogues when you are fighting "Anubiss" instead of Anubis. The comic cutscenes in the bios move at blinding speed changing panels and the reader can't read them, the same happens in the intro. Also heads up, the links to the comic option isn't working. Your dialogues have been mixed. I fought Medusa for the first boss and she had a dialogue about turning me into stone, I fought Anubis for the second boss, he repeated Medusa's lines again and the protagonist repeated the same response. Gameplay wise the camera is your worst enemy, focusing on the wrong thing all the time or locking behind you and you can't focus on the combat. There is rubberbanding with the playable character lagging, freezing and reappearing a few steps away and they often get stuck in attack loop attacking repetitively with the wrong attack until you start pressing buttons and manage to cancel the stuck command. That's issues I spotted in the first few minutes of trying the game.
