Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 364/day in the week to Jul 17 → 1.57/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Those who could escape the miasma flocked to underground villages to start a new life. But for a hardworking miner and a mysterious young girl, the hope of a thriving outside world beckons…

Contains adult humour and some mature themes.
Discover the wonderfully weird world of Eastward. Climb aboard the cross-country railway which spans this decaying continent, stopping off to explore its bustling towns, curious campsites and shady forests.
Fend off peculiar monsters and ferocious bosses with John’s weapon of choice - be it a flamethrower, cog-shooter or your trusty ol’ frying pan. Feeling merciful? Try temporarily stunning them with Sam’s kinetic blast.

I would 100% reccomend this game to anyone interested in art, character design and environmental design. While the story falls short a few times (more in execution than the overall plot really) And the combat is basic and a little boring, it's unique aesthetic and visual charm have never failed to impress me. You might want to wait for it to go on sale, but I found the experience to be worth the 30 bucks.

I really wanted to like this game but in the end, the story was confused and disjointed, the characters were lacking personality, the action gameplay was clunky, and overall, it was just tedious.
I really want to like this game. It's got wonderful visuals and a fleshed out world with lots of details. But unfortunately the gameplay makes it kind of frustrating to play and you are limited in the ways you can interact with the world. The main issue is that while I thought this was an adventure game with a story, it feels more like a story with adventure game bits. There are frequent cutscenes, even for small interactions where taking control from the player doesn't really make sense. This isn't bad in and of itself, I just expected a different type of game. Note that they did implement a fast-forward mechanic which I appreciate. Another issue I had while playing was the movement and fighting mechanics. I really liked that you walk pretty fast (though there are areas where you slow down for no real reason) but unfortunately you don't have any way to dash or dodge. This is especially frustrating in the beginning when there are snails raining from the ceiling with no indication of where they would land (later in the game, you get shadow indicators for similar situations which is a good solution). It makes it very easy for you to get stuck between enemies and get hurt for no reason. My problem here is that I would prefer to lose hearts because I was bad at the game and not because the game was poorly designed. The fighting doesn't feel that great but the fact that you're running around, smacking things with a pan makes up for it. There are sections where, again, you have no choice but to take damage to pass (narrow corridors in chapter 1 with a bunch of aggressive plants and no way to wipe them all out at the same time). If there is a way to make up for this, I would love to know, but unfortunately the game never explains anything. This leads me to another big issue. The game has no tutorials, it doesn't explain anything. Neither John and Sam's story at the beginning (it genuinely feels like you get dropped in the middle of the game after the cinematic intro, so much so that I had to look up playthroughs to make sure I didn't start Octopia by accident) nor the mechanics of the game, the fighting, the cooking, the minigame inside of the main game. I fully thought that collecting the pixballs would influence how you play the minigame, based on your interactions with NPCs, but there seems to be no difference. There are "tutorials" in the pause menu but they are not adequate. Maybe the story gets explained better in the later game but I honestly don't feel like playing it at this time. I love the colours and the pixel art and I hope the payoff later on is better for the story overall. That being said, if what I've described is to your liking (about it being a lot of animated cutscenes and the gameplay connecting them), you should try the game out for yourself. Do keep in mind that Octopia (the DLC) doesn't appear to have any effect on the main game, it feels more like a separate farming sim type game, set after the main game (so I don't quite understand why it isn't just a separate game).
The core parts of this game are good. For fans of the visual style - it has character. For fans of the music genre - it's good. Gameplay segments are varied and interesting. But I think the clincher that will make or break the game is the narrative/writing. There are a lot of segments where you are less playing and instead, progressing through character dialogue. Personally I'm Ok with this, I don;t mind slowing gameplay down if it helps me connect more to characters. And in some way that happens here. BUT. the overarching narrative is not great, feels more like a pastiche of cliches and popular concepts that have been loosely fitted together, and so when it finishes for the players who have invested into the characters - you sort of have this reaction of "wait whut?" Lots of unfinished loose ends and confusing motivations. So basically: if you don't mind slow pace moments where character development happen - allow yourself to not get too invested in the story - it's worth a go: because gameplay, visuals and sound are very nice.
I really wanted to like this game - I love the Mother series and Zelda, but man does the writing suffer. very bloated script and gameplay is way too easy and boring. couldn't make it through ch 2 and apparently 3 is the real slog
