Second part and another good story. New story parts after the prolog is the same and the start changed with the fact that the teams change. Now you play with Takashi and Akio goes with Kuon. The stages have changed, so the 2 main characters learn this time a bit other then in last game. Sometimes its a bit funny and you see more facts, but now you see more the facts. Takashi wants to be a woman, the girl wants to be a men. He looks up to his sister and she looks up to men and Akio wants to be a kid and Kuon the youngest want be older and cooler. So its real strange to see this couples this time because everyone wants to be what the other has in real life only to learn to accept themself again. The story is fine if you oversee the Prolog/ Start and i hope you enjoy some strange crazy moments so i give this part for a bit more laughs and some puzzle pieces 80 %, even if part 1 was a bit more unique, this game do a good job since everyone knows how hard it is to a satisfactory sequel. Sure many will feel this part a bit weaker but i love it and hope some others will like it too. Dont forget this review is for Visual Novel Fans, if you dont like them, dont buy this game. Thank you for reading and hopefully have fun with the second part. postscript: Like last game maybe get a discount of 50 % or higher because its with under 2 hours a bit short, but better then 10 hours total boring and usually things. Lets see what part 3 Kuon brings :)
"A good intention is like the seed of a tree whose fruit we do not know." - George Bernard Shaw Let's continue with the second part to East Tower series. This time, we got partnered up with Takashi in the VR attraction known as East Tower, and we get some new parts to this mystery concerning the hacker. This one is way more lighthearted thanks to the character of Takashi, yet the challenges it contains slightly differ from the ones before... they are a bit more... on the psychanalytical side, presenting more clues to the nature of this mishap. Being one of RoseVerte's older titles, East Tower series got on a promising start, and it continues more so on the nature of this mysterious hacker who previously infiltrated the game. To establish a brief recap, our character is Sakuya, a girl who wants to become a boy so she can protect people she cares about. This stroke me as not so elaborate and somewhat shallowly handled in the previous chapter, yet let's say Takashi's playthrough sheds some more light into our specific decision and the encounter in the past that made us decide that we'd better be a boy. Sakuya - thanks to her dear cousin Dai, who is the Game Master for the local VR attraction East Tower - participates the game, posing as a boy, and when she gets in with other participants, the game gets conveniently hacked. From thereon, people get paired to overcome the challenges within the game, so they can get out. Previously, we were paired with Akio -
the know-it-all kid who turned out to be a businessman
; and now, we are partnered with Takashi, the optimist cutie with the spirit of an ordinary high schooler. He is your generic good guy with some emotional challenge in the past, hailing from any shojo anime series thus far. He is the likable sort, the guy you can fit into any sappy love story. His avatar within the game is a lady -
who is revealed to be his sister, later on, since he admires her so much
- and she is a bit of a wreck in means of appropriate social content. He continuously blabbers whatever comes to his mind, presenting continuous comic relief moments. Yet, as I have noted previously, the challenges within this part are a bit more deeply thought, focusing more on perception and reliance whether than simple wits or teamwork. The gender issue is a bit better established here, compared to previous chapter also, presenting a mirroring condition to our own with a boy, who'd rather pose as a girl. Interesting, huh? Is it me, or are art works actually better here, compared to the previous one? Maybe I simply didn't like Akio's portrayal... meh, well, it is somewhat better in CGs - in game avatars are still amateurish, but I'd take any improvement as they come. I'd still vote for a better soundtrack though, hearing it blasting every time you start the game kinda makes your ears bleed after a while. When it comes to gameplay, the choice options are a bit craftier in this one, actually forcing you to think before acting rather than going for the more obvious correct answer. Any complaints? Nah, not really. This one was an improvement over the previous game, both in storyline and context, so I have nothing to complain about. We've got achievements, we've got two different paths to follow and some more clues concerning the big picture. Not the best VN around, yet still it strikes me as promising. See you for the next game in the series! It's an East Tower game! :) Not my first review about this awesome series by Roseverte - the complete edition of East Tower contains four different games. Takashi is the middle one in terms of cost, 6€. They call these games "otome", which means basically that they are visual novels (or, more generally, games centered on a story and not on gameplay or action and such) directed to a female target, if that means something to you. In general, so, the player's a female character and has to interact with other male characters with everything that's supposed to happen or not xD You can get many many hours of gameplay in these visual novels, and by the way I'd suggest to buy everything Roseverte pulls out.. even if often the prices are too high for sure. Like in the East Tower case, but it's another point since you can get them with coupons or on heavy sales like I did. The story is the core of these games, which have also voice acting and awesome artwork, in my view. And the music, too, is enjoyable and different for every stage, so much work has been put in these departments. Oh, I forgot to say that this one is not only the second title for the price but also the second title of the series you're supposed to play, as the developers themselves told us too. There are many routes and many decisions to take, lots of dialogues, and great characterization for every single person you'll encounter which isn't something you get too often. I can definitely by the way agree with all the players who recommended not to play the four East Tower games separately, but as a whole.. it's something like 20+ hours for sure, and it's the most complete experience.. but only if you're into this genre and into this particular romance. The plot revolves around the Dreamworld and you - a woman, as we were saying - will be traveling through this tower, which is - you'll see why xD - reserved for men, and she'll see herself finally as a man, but with four different other "subjects" - which compose the different routes you'll be able to follow, and they're pretty long! The story as you can imagine looks quite complex and deep, with all the peculiarities that such a fantasy novel can undergo - every character will have his own personality, definitely well-made, and you'll partner with all of them, one per route, through many chapters in which your choices will matter a lot for what concerns not only bad endings but a score, which will vary from S to A for every single stage and of course will determine your final ending. As I was saying, the whole East Tower series has lots of positive points for what concerns - story apart - music, backgrounds, artworks and soundtracks in general, which is to me a great thing since it means that the game has been tested, well-developed and everything was published only when it was ready and complete, which is a weakness for many visual novels that have repetitive soundtracks, bad or recurring/not changing artworks, and of course also many plot holes or simply "negative" points in that field. This entry definitely manages to deliver an awesome visual novel, with fantasy hints, enjoyable for anyone in my view; it'll require some hours to explore every possible route, choice and ending! You'll find also here an exhaustive gallery section in which you'll see every artwork featured in the game, and that's always a plus considering the fact also that the previous title, East Tower Akio, had less features (but the other two instalments are even bigger). I'd definitely suggest both this game and the whole series, if played in its own order (East Tower Akio, Takashi, Kuon and Kurenai) it can deliver its full potential and if you're into visual novels, you definitely don't want to lose the chance to play these awesome titles from Roseverte. The story is definitely amazing with many points that make you think and many twists (and challenges), and if taken from the beginning to the end it deserves all its hours; paired with great artwork and music, this makes these four entries with this one completely included one of the best visual novels here on Steam, just be sure to put them into your wishlist and buy when they're on sale since at their full price it's still too high in my view. Have fun :)
OMG an absolutely identical prologue to East Tower- Akio. How lazy is that? At least you experience something from the youth of the female protagonist. Everthing else has the same shape as in Akio. Same story, same flirting ranks, same social media share after a stage, same achievements.
Given the fact that East Tower: Akio and East Tower: Takashi are more or less the same game apart that Sakuya is teaming up with Takashi instead of Akio, nearly whole of the review is a copy/paste of the one I did for Akio. Sakuya is a woman wishing to be a man since an incident in her childhood. She makes everything in her power to look like one. Her cousin Daiki works for Dreamworld and needs her help to try a new virtual attraction called West Tower, reserved for women. However, Sakuya managed to convince him to let her try the East Tower, reserved for men. She ends with four other testers, trapped in the virtual world, though she's happy to see that she's a man in it... This is the same beginning in each Each Tower game. Once in the virtual world, Sakuya will team up with one of the guys. In the first of the series, she's Akio's partner, whose virtual form is a child. East Tower is an attraction that will confront everyone to their own insecurities and fears. I will go straight the point: this is a visual novel, where you have choices to make. Each stage must be cleared to advance in the story, you don't have any skills or relationships to improve/destroy. However, choices are mattering: you can get a bad ending immediately where you have to begin the stage again (not the entire story), a best friend ending (by scoring A on each stage) and a romance ending (by clearing each stage with a S). If you follow the romance route, you'll end up with an extra chapter. However, some stages don't have a A rank, only a S one - in that case, for the best friend route, it's considered as if it was a A. Choices are generally made during the challenges proposed for the team. It's much rare to see them outside of them, before or after them. True, without skills or anything to worry, the game is easier than any other visuel novel I've already played (apart Shan Gui, which is more an interactive book), even the first Heileen was more complex and even Blue Rose was more complicated. I don't mind at all this lack of difficulty. I find very interesting the fact that the guy will be your best friend at the end, as the bad ending isn't a "you're alone", "you're killed", etc.. However, should you choose to pursue him, it means that your character is also evolving and accepting herself more. Let's speak about Takashi. He's a sensible young man, that admires his older sister, who seems way more stronger than him and that's why he wished to be her and that he adopted her appearance. Takashi is also the typical comical teenager boy, a side more developed in the romance route: he's hit often by Sakuya, he's slow to understand that she's a real girl and he has every corny line to deliver. However, given the fact that he's very sensible, he's wishing to be strong and the only time he did, well, he managed to get his footh in the mouth because the girl he protected was believing that she didn't need any protection. In the end, the fact the team was a girl wishing to be a boy for escaping some stereotypes and a boy that is wishing to be strong like his sister is very interesting. I largerly prefer Akio than Takashi but well, Takashi can be mature if he wants. Besides, his voice isn't as charming as Akio. Indeed, the visual novel has voice acting... in Japanese. I don't understand a thing but as the subtitles are in English, I could follow the story. The only character not voiced is you. However, I find it really good. It's always fun to hear something in a foreign language, it's reminding me some good memories with some anime. As for the style, it's really in a manga style, reminding me of The Rose of Versailles or anything directed to girls - because it's clearly stated in the official website that it's a visual novel for them (but everyone is welcome to play it). I loved it. I also loved the HUD, kinda hi-tech and with a good shade of green. The music is very good too, very adapted to each scene. I really liked it. And with Takashi being comical, you bet that you heard more the funny music than anything else. East Tower: Takashi is a little good moment I've spent, though I wished that it was a little more serious as in Akio, without having to think too much. It's not the best visual novel out there, I admit that, however, it's still worthy of a purchase and you'll learn more about Sakuya's past in this game.
I thought this second chapter was even better since it talks about
MC’s past and her thing with the boy who gave her such “complex”
. It was fun to play, and Takashi is really a sweet guy. Like I already said on my review of the first chapter, the art isn’t so great but the story is interesting. It’s no masterpiece, but totally worth reading! 8/10. Can’t wait to play the next chapter!
Very similar to 'East Tower - Aiko' Pro: easy 100% achivements Cons: 'social' media integration. After every stage it asks you to share your results to any of 3 websites. Can be clicked past easy enough, but still annoying to see those websites invading games. Graphics are not very good and mostly consist of a single screen/backdrop. And surprise, another perverted VN...

overall very good. can recommend it.
