DYE is yet another of literally thousands of 2D retro pixel platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. This one is somewhat sincerely made (the developers even made a website for the game, long abandoned, I guess they didn't pay their hosting and domain registration fees). The gimmick to this platformer is that you colour in the levels as you progress (hence the whole badly overdone "Dye" theme that perpetuates the game). There's a couple of upsides to this one, I guess this is one of the better 2D retro pixelcrap platformers infesting Steam, a bit like being pretty tall for a midget. Control feel and handling is smooth and polished, a must have for this kind of game, but that's mostly due to the choice of Unity's platform engine more than anything else. Certainly head and shoulders over the GameMaker Studio shovelware crap that pervades Steam and makes gaming worse for everyone. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. While there are options to change the resolution for the game, all this does is scale up the simplistic 2D art assets used to make the game, which makes little or no difference to the graphics quality. Without any other substantial graphics tweaks, it's not possible for gamers to improve the lacklustre 2D visuals. While this is on PC, it has all the hallmarks and deficiencies of a console game. There's 10's of thousands of PC games on Steam, and PC gamers deserve only the best. This might not appeal to many gamers due to the lack of PC-centric design. It's unclear why this game was never accepted on the video game console appliances it seems to have been designed for. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. DYE didn't appeal much to the people who own a copy of the game, either. It has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game didn't really capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for for dying, trivial to get, but less than 17 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game. Hardly a success story, gamers just weren't all that interested in the game. DYE has the ridiculous price of around $5 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam.

This type of 'die endlessly until you get the run just perfect this time' type of games are absolutely no fun. I can't recommend this game for any reason when the game play is so obnoxious.

2d basit bir platform oyunu oynanış kolay güzel

Generally a well-made game but everything about the characters physics feel so awful that i couldn't get myself to enjoy it at all. I really wish i liked this game but it's just not for me at all.

Probably the most difficult precision platformer that I have played.
