Game crashes constantly and buggy (people leaving town because there is no homes despite there being homes built)
Dwarrows is a weird combination of a Platform, Adventure and City Building game. It's nice, charming and relaxing and the gameplay works: you are constantly engaged in all the activities the game offers to you, for building the city, finding the resources required for it, solve puzzles and exploring places. On the bad side this game is terribly unpolished, buggy and clunky. Nothing that can ruin your overall experience but, sometimes, you want to have a pause between a terrible camera preventing you to reach the right platform or being unable to demolish a building because the controller scheme don't work well. Despite the problems mentioned above (and a long list I spare you), it's a pleasant nice game and I recommend you to try.
If I can describe this game with one word, that would be "charming". This game starts off as a simple "create your town with resources you collected", and then turns out it actually has a plot and those ruins all over the place aren't there for decoration, but for a reason. This game follows a bit of that 90's feeling, as in "here's your task, look for it". Most of the time you end up finding what you need, but there are moments in which it can be a bit frustrating (specially some parts of the trials). There are also situation in which you'll be looking for a walkthrough. The music is beautiful, and I'll sometimes find myself humming some of the tracks while doing other stuff. It's really good, and I'm quite impressed for how it never feels tiring. The tracks for the overworld keep interchanging between them, with a few short tracks for transition. Very good music, yep yep. But all in all, this game is still fun and there's a peaceful feeling of nostalgia in it. One of my favorites games for sure.
its a chill game with a fair seeming amount of humor , sadly its slow and a bit repetitive , the puzzles are just ok. crashed 4 times on me n my characters got stuck a few times making it hard to recommend.
It is still rough around the edges. I don't understand the mechanic of having 3 characters to switch between to do things in the village. There is way way way too much talking and text. Maybe the developers need to work a little more on it, like the tutorial is clearly a pain (I fell 3 times and I almost gave up). It needs a lot of polish but it has potential.
If you like manually moving 3 characters to the next area every few minutes in dungeons, this is the game for you. This might be acceptable if we were in the 1990s with something like Lost Vikings. But the lack of any sort of AI in your companions forcing you to manually do everything makes this the most tedious of games. Three switches in a row? No you can't tell them to come into the room and stand on the switches despite in-universe having "rocky talkies" to freely communicate to each other (indicating that in fact, they are not soul-less robots and have their own free will), you have to take two minutes moving each one to it from the other room. All in all, most of the design choices in this game seem to be there to make the entire experience as slow as possible, even the cutscenes can't be skipped. An example, one of the tutorial missions has you go up to the top to repair something. I was slamming my keyboard because they already told me where it was, but force me to sit through a slow camera pan along the entire path leading up to the top of the tower. After completing every puzzle outside in the first area (except for one I don't have the tools for yet I guess) and finishing the first "trial" or "dungeon" I'm not sure if I'll be booting this one up again. It all feels like a clunky mess.
Good game, don't recommend if you're prone to motion sickness.
I find myself coming back to this game every few months. It has a charming setting with pick-up-and-play feel, making this title a warm welcome each time I come back. Kudos to my college prof for recommending me this game and to the team at Lithic for a casual and rustic game :)
