Happy to see that it fulfills all my expectations. This is not a mid 3D platformer but one of the best ones we got these days. The soundtrack is crazy good, platforming is smooth (although a bit on the easier side), lots of collectibles and rewarding exploration, simple but fun combat...It's an hommage to classic 3D jump'n'runs, just a 2026 version of it with great graphics and a colorful art style. Performance is pretty good as well. 4K 60fps on Epic on a laptop 4070 is solid. I wish it had DLSS though as the only upscaler it uses is FSR and i'm not a big fan of FSR. Still, if you're a fan of the genre, this is comfort food!
Brings me back to my childhood, game controls crispy, visuals are stunning and you can feel the devs poured passion into it. Excited to finish this game, the story too has lots of promise where I am.
So after finishing my first sitdown with this game i had to write a review, This game is pure joy and nostalgia reminds me of why I fell in love with playing games, You can tell the devs put both their heart and souls into creating a game that alot of us have wanted for a long time and they've done a damn awesome job at it. Beautiful Soundtrack Beautiful Artstyle And I'm sure the gameplay is going to be just as beautiful when I get to sink more hours into it Huge Praise to Weird Beluga You Guys Have Done Well, Thank You
Just not fun, missing the sauce
One of the best 3D platformers of recent years, with great level design and gameplay Duskfade takes a bit of time to get going, but after the slow opening, you’ll have fun all the way through to the end Obviously, platforming is the main part of the game, and it’s executed perfectly, with levels that get more challenging over time, along with some great exploration and well-hidden collectibles to find Combat is straightforward but fun and engaging (especially after you unlock some abilities), although I wish it had more combos for you to play around with. The enemies are varied, with different mechanics, so you need to use everything you have to prevail. The thing that surprised me the most was the bosses. Boss fights are fantastic, with multiple phases and some platforming sections integrated into them perfectly The game isn’t that challenging. I played it on the highest difficulty, and I didn’t have any problems with any part of the game or any of the bosses. Music is really important to me, especially in platformers, but I think this one could have used a bit more variation in its soundtrack. The boss themes are great, but the exploration music is a bit samey. Some tracks are good, but most of them aren’t that memorable and are just serviceable. it’s a great game, and you should play it if you’re craving an old-school platformer from the PS2 era
This game nails the PS2 platformer vibe both in terms of gameplay and aesthetic. Combat for the most part is filler and sort of basic, but it can be satisfying chaining together perfect dodges. You do unlock combos about halfway through but it's mostly extra and unnecessary. Also it's very grounded, you'll use your aerial attack more on floating boxes than enemies. I thought it really shined at the final boss, but for most of the trash mobs you're just button mashing through. Platforming is by far the main focus here. It's nice, not the best I've seen but definitely good. You can only grab specific marked ledges though so it's got a bit of Spyro syndrome where you will just fall 1 pixel short some jumps. And there were a few timed segments that felt a bit off but overall it's solid. Story had some interesting elements but definitely aimed at kids and kinda cheesy. For 100% about 16 hours, plenty of backtracking but no missables, and none of it feels drawn out. 9/10 fun wise.
