Reviews
Game itself is fun and challenging at the same time. Campaign missions have a good story in them. In the beginning it is hard to learn the game as tutorial is pretty vague but once you get the hang of it you can enjoy it
This stand alone "expansion", should rather be classified as sidegrade as in any form of upgrade of OG. Campaign is short LotR parody with forced mechanic of multiple heroes at once. This with added change to hero progression forcing you to pay for every skill level up, made campaign somehow even more frustrating than in original. Dungeon building also has been changed so you have split of 4 factions, all by representing hero, monsters and styles from OG. Every room has its own special decorative items that give bonuses to their functions. Generic doodads now generate prestige in range that grows when hero inspects and enjoys it. On paper all those changes should be all positives, making game closer to any form of sim, it should be. In practice, it all feel like wing clipping for sake of some nebulous balance of the multiplayer. Every faction seems very even, everyone have the same roster and very limited skills. I’m sure it would make some hardcore online player happy, but after years solo player would rather have more content than some reskins, rebalances and reshuffles.

Crashes all the time, and even without that, the game is far from being as good and funny as the subsequent games.
I picked this up in a bundle hoping for a fun dungeon management sim, and while the core concept — building rooms to attract heroes, satisfying their needs, then incapacitating them for soul energy — is genuinely clever and different from what most people expect, the execution drags it down hard. The Kalypso launcher DRM is a frustrating barrier just to play a singleplayer game, and once you're actually in, the pacing is painfully slow with autosaves that can strand you hours back. Managing three Dungeon Lords with a hotbar that doesn't swap between them is a UI nightmare, and as heroes level up they snowball into unkillable deathballs that make every level feel like a desperate race you're destined to lose. There are moments where building and decorating your dungeon clicks and feels satisfying, but the game constantly undercuts that with unclear objectives, micromanagement hell, and a difficulty curve that punishes patience rather than rewarding it. Unless you're grabbing it for nearly free in a bundle, skip it.

Conclusion : Je suis totalement conquis. Dungeons – The Dark Lord est un must pour tous les fans de stratégie, de gestion et de donjons. Un vrai coup de cœur, du début à la fin !
