The controls are horrible and awkward and I wanted to give benifit of the doubt to the game and kept stumbling through hitting the right keys but would end up in some random menu. The key mapping for controller is confusing as we;; and all over the place. Another frustrating area is when navigating dialogues from NPC's... instead of being able to scroll through options to continue the communication going or you get to choose X,B, A or Y and its always changing depending how many options there are.. VERY CONFUSING! I see the potential for this game and want to play it but with the controls being extremely frustrating and not even adhering to common standard mappings of controller for other similar games it makes it very difficult to play and makes the game experience dismal.
in terms of gameplay and mechanics, to me it's a mix of Exiled Kingdoms, Secrets of Grindea, DIn's Curse, 9th Dawn II and Crawlers & Brawlers - albeit arguably shorter than any of these titles in terms of content. some features: - exp based leveling. - multiple skill trees: pick and choose the type of character you wish to be. no class restrictions, but sort of illusion of choice as masteries (separate from skills) pigeonhole options from a viability/efficiency perspective. - limited slots (4, not including potion slots) on the action bar encouraged wildly different builds between my wife and I based on how we envisioned our characters should play. - WASD movement + mouse targeted combat for p1; gamepads for all other ports, I think. - varied boss battles and instanced, small-scale dungeon diving. - light itemization + crafting system. - around 5-10 hour campaign. no end game or replayability features at this time, although NG+ is a feature in the works planned for Nov/Dec. really enjoying the game so far and looking forward to future content, if any. the developer is very active, listening to feedback and applying fixes. have personally been wanting to play an rpg like this for some time now with that sort of "classic" feel in terms of appearance and systems - I'm glad to have come across this game.

"Dungeons of the Fallen" is a broken asset flip slapped together with other people's game assets and the childrens drag and drop video game construction toy, ClickTeam Fusion. This was intended to be a 2D retro pixel top down action/brawler with lightweight RPG elements, but it just doesn't work. The menu locks up for several minutes every click, and eventually becomes unresponsive before the game can launch. Imagine not being able to make a game that works with the ClickTeam Fusion construction kit toy. Despite not being in Steam Early Access (where this arguably belongs), the game is missing features and is apparently incomplete. Due to the lack of meaningful progress from the developer, it's unlikely the game will be completed at all, yet the developers reprehensively have their hand out for money for an incomplete game. This is a good reason for gamers to avoid this. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. Some of the defects in the game can be attributed to the choice of using the Clickteam Fusion construction kit - the "No-Code" construction kit that "Anyone can make games with!!". Including, you know, people who aren't game developers. Which is a problem. This is a very poor quality toolset sometimes used by amateur developers as it's free (so they don't have to pay for GameMaker Studio) and doesn't require advanced game development skills, but unfortunately has very limited capabilities (it's arguably worse than GameMaker Studio). Just as you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear, you can't make a great video game if you use a terrible engine. So it's inappropriate when amateurs try to use these for profit, without any actual, real game development effort taking place. This doesn't result in products that have any real meaningful value for gamers. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 15 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from (over 9,000 completely free titles), the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. Because the game is broken and unplayable for me, it may also not work for other gamers. This is a solid reason to approach this game with some scepticism. "Dungeons of the Fallen" has the insane price of around $4 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the unethical nature of the developer. Remember that if you buy a game from an unethical developer, you're putting your money at risk.
Profile Features Limited!
Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game. Edit: While it's true some of the assets are under CC license, the developer also admits to buying/acquiring assets from other sources and not crediting the authors. There's two criteria for determining whether something is an asset flip. Whether the developer attempts to pass off the work of others as their own, and whether the majority of the game was made by other people. Particularly where the work of others is being used in a for-profit product, whether the license permits it or not. After all, Digital Homicide paid for all the assets they used, just like they paid their lawyers when they tried to sue Valve and Jim Sterling. That doesn't mean they aren't the textbook example of asset flippers, just because they ostensibly stuck to licensing agreements (as far as we know). In the case of this game, both are true to varying extents. This is an asset flip.
In general the game was quite good. Decent action gameplay and a good amount of difficulty. The bosses were pretty different and interesting. Pros - Difficulty, the game is quite difficult and requires some good strategy. - There are a number of stat and gear choices which allows you to focus on different types of stats. - Interesting varied boss fights. - Controls were good especially after fixing the arrow aiming issue early on. Neutral - The game was fairly linear with a few side paths. This isn't bad for some, but I like more open world games. Cons - There were a number of skills I couldn't get before beating the game. Perhaps future content will allow me to get all of them. - I wish there were more options when it came to choosing skills and masteries.
Hard effort for a young, enthusiastic and solo developer: feel free to support and encourage with a purchase but expect more 'amateur' than 'indie.' Decent title to pick up during 75% off sales
Couch coop limited by the fact controller support is still broken.
Usual story (we are adept who try to save world) Game have some rpg elements like simple loot and enchanting Complete this game alone especially last boss in 1 act and first boss in 2 act can be a little hard for someone After level 7 game become a little easy but it's depend on your build ofc I'm use a health puddle, dash and regen to complete this game alone P.S For someone who stuck on twin bro bosses try to use crosswbow and maxing your damage with enchant and use a poison enchant on your weapon.Try to kill first fire bro and better go on them in 7 character lvl Abour librarian it's be better to use shield ability to bounce the axe In all game i'm only found 1 bug with Tarneko in 2 town Proc Simple gameplay and a little hardcore if you play alone Con For first time 7 lvls it's can be a little grindy after time grind become more easily Some boss can be a little hard to kill (twins brothers and librarian)
Needs work, but is very promising.
Leider im local coop mit Controller nicht spielbar.
