An interesting game, held back by its extreme difficulty.
This would be a "Neutral" review if that were an option. Recommended for tower defense enthusiasts, not recommended for completionists. Most of Dungeon Warfare is engaging and rewarding, but some design decisions left me baffled. The endgame leveling curve is painfully slow considering how little reward it offers, and certain stages (especially The Mountain) feel disproportionately harder than the rest of the game. This absolutely should not be a game that demands 100+ hours to complete. Of my 122 total hours played, around 30 were spent grinding Endless mode on various stages just to gain XP, along with dozens of failed attempts to clear The Mountain with 8 runes enabled. That left a bitter taste at the very end of what was otherwise a good experience. Because of these absurd design choices, I won’t be trying Dungeon Warfare 2 or 3.

A very nice incremental (non-too grinding) tower defense-esque game. I must say 90 of the pleasure comes from watching enemies get spring-trapped off cliff edges and screaming as they fall to their deaths. This game somehow avoids the rage/bored-quit aspects of other similar games. The pixel graphics are both fun and utilitarian to look at and the mechanics of replaying levels in order to get more gems for leveling up is done very well. Am just halfway through at 30+ hours played and still going strong. A good buy at full price and a non-brainer at a discount.
