On the surface, Tiqee's Escape doesn't really stand out. The graphics are mostly nothing special and, if you've played other RPGMaker games before, the maps and characters will all look and feel really familiar to you. The character artworks, however, do look really nice... but outside of meeting Gabbo and Gobbo, you never really see anything else on that same level again. The game does a bit better in terms of gameplay. The gameplay primarily focuses on gathering materials and resources from around the dungeon (the setting in which the game takes place in), and using them to craft various tools and robots to help you along the way. Besides this, the game also puts an interesting twist on the usual turn-based battle formula. Instead of controlling the entire party yourself, you instead control only Tiqee, and use her to support the rest of the party. Because of that, your role in these battles becomes primarily that of resource management. The game's difficulty is also balanced pretty nicely. The normal enemy encounters are easy enough that you can complete them mostly mindlessly, but are just tough enough that you will begin to suffer if you stop paying attention for too long between battles. The boss encounters, on the other hand, dial up the difficulty enough that you'll need to actually stop and think carefully about what you're doing, but still keeps the difficulty low enough that it shouldn't take you more than 1 or 2 tries to defeat them. The game doesn't particularly require you to do any additional grinding to complete the game. Outside of battling the enemies I ran into, I never once felt the need to go back to farm additional EXP or money. This, however, changes if you happen to be an achievement hunter. There are some achievements that you likely won't unlock by just playing through the game casually, so you'll need to do that extra bit of grinding if you want to become a "Platin-Gobbo". Tiqee's Escape is a short game and doesn't have much in the way of story. Unless you're planning on unlocking all the achievements, the advertised 3-5 hours is an accurate estimate. That said, it was still pretty fun playing through this game. Considering it only costs about $3, it's not a bad buy.
A RPGMaker game with goblin girl building robots
This game was an absolute treat to play! In a way, it's a really good showing of how a minimalist approach can work very well: there wasn't a lot of dialogue, but it was clear what Tiqee wanted to do and what kind of person she was; you don't spend much time in the goblin village or being around other characters later on but they give an interesting showing of what their civilizations are like; and while you don't get to directly control anyone other than Tiqee and she doesn't have that many abilities, you still get to make meaningful choices both in battles and when preparing for battles. A really top-notch game that made for a fun few hours!
This is overall a fun little RPGMaker game. You can easily complete a run in 2 - 4 hours, probably less if you know where to go or don't do like I did and find all the hidden rooms first. Overall the game is fun, feels pretty well balanced. I only hit one fight I felt was a little unfair, but I got past it after a couple tries. My only critique is you may need to turn up the brightness a little to play this game. I missed a way to proceed for about 20 minutes as I didn't see the rope as it blended in too much into the darkness. But this may be also because my PC was on Night Mode when I played it, so you may not have the same issue.
Playing thoroughly, this game is around 2-3 hours. The one thing I'd recommend is to not grind. There's a lot of cool hidden things to explore. Outside of a few custom assets, it looks like most other RPG Maker games and that may put off some, but the price I think is right.
Have you ever assembled a party member out of junk and other stuff? No? Well, neither have I, up until now! Dungeon Rummage: Tiqee's Escape has some interesting and original mechanics: While exploring the dungeon, you find materials that you can use for "tinkering" to build things that help you progress in the dungeon and fight the various monsters you'll encounter, all with the help of your selfmade robots. The lighthearted story also creates an entertaining atmosphere. Be warned though: You better like dungeons and goblins!
Tiqee's Escape is a fun, short, dungeon crawler game. I had the pleasure of playing two versions of the beta, which should be very close to how the release version is. This game is intended as a side game to a much larger primary game, so the story is pretty simplistic. Gameplay-wise, it has a turn-based RPG system with a twist. You control Tiqee and her bots have an auto-battle AI, which can be influenced by Tiqee's abilities. I appreciated that the enemies are on the field rather than random encounters. They do eventually respawn, but can be avoided if you want to. You can get through the game without intentionally grinding, as long as you make sure you do fight some monsters and upgrade your bots. Overall, I'd recommend playing the game if you've got a few hours. It's a nice change from the typical rpg maker game.
Really enjoyed my time with Dungeon Rummage – Tiqee's Escape. Playing as Tiqee, the half-goblin/half-human tinkerer, makes the whole dungeon crawling adventure feel fresh. Exploring the dungeons, scavenging parts, and slowly building a little squad of robots to fight at your side is super satisfying. As someone who likes RPG Maker style games, this one really shows how creative the engine can be. The exploration, systems, and quirky ideas make it feel like a passionate project rather than a cookie-cutter RPG. Definitely a fun indie dungeon crawler to check out. Plus it has all the hallmarks that make RPGs great with plenty of fun achievements to help you invest in the post-game. Looking forward to my next step into the Dungeon Rummage world.
An RPG Maker game that is actually a game of its own and not another JRPG. Combat can be dull in the early going (it's too tempting to grind out new tinkers when you first find blueprints), but exploring a dungeon to find materials to craft your own party members is a neat twist. Using your turn to manage a part of robots is way more interesting than your standard RPG Maker/JRPG fare. Game appears short enough to get the most of its mechanics and introducing new concepts before it gets stale.
I enjoyed it. There is a tinkering system where you find crafting materials like junk and ore that are littered throughout the game to craft your robot allies, upgrade them, and build items in general. This to me was a brilliant and fresh innovation on the RPG genre. Instead of traditional level ups with EXP for the bots, you craft and use upgrade chips. Overall the game was a nice original touch.
