I love it! If you like deckbuilder, give it a go
This game makes me want to rip all of my hair out and fight a gorilla. I love it.
A lightweight, simple, surprisingly cozy deckbuilder. Like, the cards are all fairly simple, you just keep adding cards to your entire deck as you progress, and the art is super cute. I low key wish I had a physical version of this game. Props to the developer!
This game is a weird one for me. I played a lot of the original version on itch so I decided to get the full version. I really enjoy all of the strategies that you can pull off, almost every weapon set is viable and them some. However, it is only viable if manage to get the right cards, and you don't start with a deck that throws really touch enemies right away, and other rng dependent things. This is the core reason for my love-hate relationship with roguelike games, they can be so good however the pace comes to a screeching halt if you don't have good luck to get the cards you want. I do recommend this game, however I would have a decent bit more hours if there was some way to get a guaranteed starter deck of whichever playstyle you want to try: whether it be summons, knives, bows, or batons. If that isn't in the cards, then atleast expand the cards that you can get in the first five cards, i can't tell you how many times I've gotten stuck with 2 fire starters and a bear trap.
This game is phenomenal! It's very well-polished and incredibly fun. The core gameplay is engaging and surprisingly deep, offering a lot of strategic possibilities. All of the pixel art is exceptionally well-done and unique. The entire 'feel' of the game is fantastic! There are a bunch of easter eggs and surprises hidden throughout. The little bug that crawls around is an excellent example of the charming small details that bring the world to life. And while we're talking about the visuals, let's not forget the audio! It's amazing! The sound effects fit the music surprisingly well and effectively convey atmosphere. (Give us some more music! You're so good!) All of the 'levels' or biomes are very well-designed and unique, each offering a distinct visual and gameplay experience. The story or tutorial (which I feel doesn't get enough appreciation) somehow manages to give the different characters some life and soul, as well as adding depth and 'lore' to the world. It leaves a lot up for interpretation, which I personally love. The concept itself is unlike anything else I've seen. I love the idea of a card game being this fun and immersive! (In fact, I even printed out some of the cards to make a bare-bones version of the game to play on long trips!) The fact that this is a solo indie game is truly impressive. It's a testament to the developer's skill and dedication. Overall, a SOLID 8.5/10, borderline 9. This game is a must-play. If you're unsure, try the demo! You'll fall in love in no time!
Play the demo!!!!! You'll fall in love!!!!! My entry into the Deck Building genre was Inscryption. Hell of an entrance, but if you're looking for that level of difficulty, then this isn't for you, haha. It's a lot more forgiving, so Dungeon Deck's a great introduction for anyone new, but I'm sure veterans will enjoy it too, but yknow, I'm literally a baby in this genre lol so who am I to know? I've only played two deck building games. SO FUN! I've already completed a full run of the game, which took me a couple hours across two days (teeechnically one day, but who cares), and I'm now trying to complete the other achievements/challenges in the game. EDIT: Ver. 1.1.0 just dropped and I've been having a ton of fun with the new challenges! Adds a ton of replayability, and the new main menu is cute too!! So far there's a nice mix of easy and difficult challenges, I'm definitely going to be stuck on some of them for a while. Dev is active on the game's Discord too, and he's quick to fix bugs when they arise.
