Dreamstones is a classic brick-breaker with some extra flavour. It won't make you fall in love with the genre, but if you already like it, it offers over 20 hours of gameplay. A great feature is the weapon and skill system, enabling different playstyles and a nice progression. The stages oscillate between casual, interesting, and infuriating. I had many issues with how the obstacles camouflage in the background, making them harder to see. A bad design decision that was saved by the amazing option to desaturate the background. ❤ The kingdom-building mechanic is bland, basically a gold sink with no benefit other than unlocking more stages eventually.
A chill breakout/arkanoid type game with some simple rpg and story elements. It is slow paced and not very challenging, which may be good or bad depending on what you want to play. I like playing it to unwind before bed.

good brick breaker with rpg features
It's a pleasant Breakout clone which features a wide variety of upgrades and equippable weapons to your paddle. It also features a kingdom building mechanic, but it's mostly decorative and upgrading the kingdom only counts for adding points to your overall score.
I love me some brick breaker games and this has a great spin on it. Great podcast/youtube second screen game!
A very fun brick breaker, and while I do agree that the physics are sometimes odd I don't find in to be particularly difficult compared to other brick breakers I've played. Especially with the intelligent use of available power ups. This may have something to do with the fact that most of the brick breakers I've played are not merely old school but actually from a time where the average difficulty of video games was much harder.
Inadequate controller support
I love this game. By "love", I mean, it forced its way into my brain through a nostril and lodged itself firmly behind my eyes and wouldn't let me go until I'd completed it. At its core, it's breakout / arkanoid, with arcade elements, powerups (so many powerups), choices.. all the choices.. collectables, powerups and loadouts, weapon configs (yes, weapons to attack all the monsters.. yes there's monsters, yes this is still breakout) - it's got a lot of stuff going on. It starts off a little "..wait, why are there monsters?" and quickly becomes "I _really_ gotta kill these things or I won't sleep." As you progress the levels, you get more xp, you get cash, you get Dreamstones, you get STORY - there's a mental story going on that's full of interesting characters - you get powerups, you get to make choices of loadouts with your powerups to try and beat levels - there are BOSS battles that can be challenging... yeah. Love it. Really great gaming experience. If you have a spare £10, it's definitely worth it. If you've ever loved breakout / arkanoid, then you should definitely give this a try.
