This review is presented to you by the Claws of the Wyvern for the AWG Curator! We would be happy if you visit and follow us. You`re always welcome. I remember when i was in third Class we have had one Night in the Gym. We were sitting together, listening to Storys, singing, playing Games. 2 Teachers were with us and it was nice. Next Morning we were all, off Course, alive. But not in this Game. Welcome to DREADFUL NIGHT AT SCHOOL! DREADFUL NIGHT AT SCHOOL is a Game made by a RPG Maker Fan for Fans. And it is the First Game of a Solo Developer who did a good Job in my opinion. Let´s have a look. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3399667417 You are Mia. Mia and her Class, including 2 Teacher are going to spend a night in Schools Gym. What first seems to be promising Fun turns out into a bloody Mess. You have a Murder in your Middle. Try to find out the Reasons behind, stay alive (and i don´t mean the John Travolta way) and escape … if you can. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3399667821 DREADFUL NIGHT AT SCHOOL is a short dark Thriller and easy to Control. My first Playthrough was About 2,5 Hours and it has a really well done Ending. To be honest, i have had my thoughts About it, how it could ending, paying Attention to Details will help you, too. Speaking of thoughts, there is also a THOUGHTS System, you can find in the Ingame Menu. If you don´t know what to do, choose it and it will tell you what´s next. Nice done, you won´t need a Playthrough Guide. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3399668211 It was nice to meet all the Characters and finding out a little About their Backgrounds and Motivations. Not too much, not too less. Sometimes you are not alone on your way. So it didn´t leave me cold when one of them dies. The Graphics are typical RPG Maker and that goes also for the Sounds. But it worked well for me together and that for only 1,99 Euros that are worth it. I also like the Atmosphere here, because most Time it is darker and you have only your Handylamp. It also has easy Achievements for our Hunters. Thanks to the Developer for inviting me, it was an exciting and interesting Journey, paired with a few Memories of my Past. Good Job, i´m Looking forward for more Games from you. Thanks. This Game was gifted to me, but i will buy two Copies and gift them to Friends for supporting. Thank you for reading. :-)
Ot, dzieciaki mają opcje nocowania w szkole. Część wymaga wnikliwszej eksploracji otoczenia, a jedno kombinowania z kodem do kłódki. Nie, nie będzie nim najbardziej memiczna w kraju liczba czterocyfrowa, niestety. Oprawa dźwiękowa jest w porządku, muzyka pasuje do klimatu akcji. Cena tytułu adekwatna do oferowanego czasu do jej ukończenia, bo to jednowieczorowa atrakcja. Wady gry? Wspomniana liniowość - to oczywiste. No --- This is a $2 game made with RPGMaker. If you're not familiar with what that is, you can buy it yourself and make a game like this in a weekend. There's literally thousands of cheap games on steam made with RPGMaker, most of them pretty mediocre; but some are interesting enough for a couple hours entertainment if they are priced cheap enough. The story here is oddball enough to maybe be entertaining: a sleep over at a school (although, who has sleepovers at schools for fun?) that turns into a thriller / murder mystery. The problem is the game overall is so glitchy that it's constantly getting in the way of even being able to make progress and the level design is amateur. In the first room the exit door isn't clearly marked, so you're clicking on every wall hoping it will let you out. Which might be forgivable if two of the other walls didn't let you walk through them and hard lock you into a blank space, forcing you to restart the game. The second room you're supposed to go around and talk to everyone… OK, sure, but two of the conversations are broken and hard lock the game. In the span of 15 minutes I've had to alt+f4 force the game closed and start over multiple times just to continue. Glitches and poor level design aside, there's not even a save system. So you're starting over each time. So overall, the story is OK for $2; the RPGMaker graphics/engine are exactly what you expect from RPGMaker, but the world building/environment seems to be so glitchy that the game ends up being basically a memory test: remember which parts of the locations will glitch so you can avoid them when restarting over and over again to make progress. What should have been an hour of cheap entertainment ends up being an exercise in game testing and glitch avoidance. --- Bottom line: For the cheap price I was prepared to judge this compared to other simple, cheap RPGMaker games. But it's one glitch after another and poorly put together. --- While you are here, would you consider following my curator page? Want to read all of my reviews and not just the curated ones?
Podsumowanie:
Dreadful Night at School to krótki, lecz tez zadziwiająco przyjemny pixelowy tytuł z gatunku gier przygodowych, młodzieżowy mroczny thriller, który może zadziwić was fabułą. not know what even need to do in this game. first section maybe need find some packages but not even found all of them. cool music still
A short thriller RPG maker game that I quite enjoyed The game is roughly just over an hour long and is cheap so if you're into thriller/horror RPGmaker games I recommend checking it out
Not bad if a bit short 1 hour 30 in my 1st play-through no guides around 2 hours if you was going for 100% achievements only encountered 1 translation error during my play where some thing wasn't in English
It feels like someone took a short horror movie concept and crammed it into RPG Maker, which actually worked better than it should have. Against all odds, this was an enjoyable production. This is literally my first time playing one of these types of games where you wander around in an RPG Maker produced product with no battles or combat, and I liked it. At first, I was really worried this was going to suck. Literally on the first map, I managed to use the area around the bed to walk through the walls. It was a bad sign, and I was really that something so bad would happen that I'd give up playing in the first 15 minutes. But then, by the 15 minute mark, something made it far worse, because OF COURSE it did. I accidentally changed the language and stopped playing for a couple months until I came back. Oh, you expected it to be something bad the game did? Nah, the dev actually made a good one, as I already said. It's not an adventure; it's a short horror movie, for better or worse. Is the story perfect? No. Do I think it needed a bit more work in the proofreading department? Yes. Am I annoyed by the fact that this is basically Gone Home but not crap? Yes, but it's not crap, so that isn't a problem. So, what is the strength of Dreadful Night at School that makes something so mundane worth giving a thumbs up? Um... quality....? Yeah, the thing is, a really good idea for a story told in a C list way can still be good enough and enjoyable. This game is only an hour long, but still it was interesting, and that's what I'd expect of a story sim sorta game made with RPG Maker. What could it have done better? Well, it did try that thing Final Fantasy 13 did by starting in the middle and then flashbacking to fill in the plot. This simply was a bad idea. Part of me feels like the story of this game would have been far better and much more compelling if it was more a puzzle solving game where you knew the info of the plot twist from the very beginning. At the very least, such an edgy idea would have been totally badass, and honestly I think it could have acted as a selling point. Heck, it reminds me of a really edgy idea I had years ago for making a game in RPG Maker of a similar thing. Maybe I should have stuck to that one and finished it, because damn that would have been a messed up good time. The soundtrack is pitiable. When you realize the music in the gym is just a 10 second loop or whatever, it will probably annoy you. Maybe it was because I had such low expectations, partially because I was gifted this by the dev probably in hopes that I would review it, but regardless, I actually did enjoy this. Is it a lifechanger? Nah. You'll probably forget this game in a year, but like back in the day when you would go to a rental store and rent a movie out of curiosity for cheap, so too does this little game serve a purpose as cheap Steam fodder, and it's commendable for being so. It's $2; technically $1.99. That's not unfair for a simple little story, depending on your preferences. Sure, you could pay ten times the price for yet another farm sim with tons of feature bloat that feels the same as the other 20 farm sims you played, or you could play this for a tenth of the price, and say "well, that wasn't all that bad, and actually was interesting and kinda good to say the least". Since the dev actually did good on this, I theorize they will continue to do better with time. That's usually how it goes with devs. Also, you remember, we live in the era where Dragonage Veilguard has some of the dumbest story content ever? Well, guess what this doesn't have?! That's right! It has none of that ♥♥♥♥. Good on the dev for not making this some political trash heap or injecting any trash into this game. God bless you all, and may you all have fun gaming.
