I honestly really wanted to enjoy and recommend this game. The character designs were great. The voice acting and narration, phenomenal. The core gameplay, enjoyable. But once you get into it for a while, the cracks start to show. For one, there's only 2 actual playable characters for one despite there being a huge cast of characters. Its such a waste when theres so many well designed characters that could have been added in. And other than some very minor variation in "base stats", which of the two characters you choose don't really matter much gameplay wise, they're essentially identical besides the character model and the odd few throwaway voice lines. The dungeons don't seem to have any actual link to the story episodes too. You just farm the same old monsters over and over, earn coins which you use to unlock spells/items. Spending coins are what unlocks more episodes, not by defeating any specific monster or boss. So you could literally farm ONLY the first dungeon and still unlock the entire story. That's how disconnected the gameplay and the story is. Neither is there a lot of spells and items to choose from, if we compare it to let's say Vampire Survivors. There's literally only 9 possible fusions aka evolutions here (VS has about 47 I think). With some options clearly much stronger than others, gameplay starts to get stale pretty fast. This could have been a great game. But as it is, it needs more baking in the oven; more playable characters and more abilities and combinations would have gone a long way in maintaining replayability. But as it is, I'd rather just play Vampire Survivors, while watching someone's Let's Play if I wanted to see the story episodes. If more content is added in future, I'd gladly change my review.
Just picked up this game after very excitedly waiting for months after I missed the kickstarter, and I love it! I’ve only made it past one dungeon and like 5 chapters of the story so far and I am very happy with the story and gameplay so far, and can’t wait to get further. I’ll update my review after I get further/finish the game! The gameplay actually really surprised me (sorry lol), I bought this game because I knew it’d be jam packed with great hot art from one of my favorite ever artists ever, Hotcha, and of course a few features from some of my other favorites. But I found myself actually putting off going through more story chapters to keep playing the dungeons lmao. If you’ve ever played a game like Hades or vampire survivors it’s very similar to that, just with a hotter protagonist (maybe not in Hades case Zagreus can get it any day) and way more dildos haha. I’ve been having a ton of fun with all the abilities and enemies, and it’s all way more fun and competitive with the other games I mentioned than I thought it would be. Just tons of dungeon fun with Drake. The story of course has been super fun and sexy so far, and the voice acting has been phenomenal. You get free voice acting in the first three chapters, and that convinced me to get the full voice acting pack. The voices are exactly how I would’ve imagined the characters and I love hearing Drake in all his broody confident jock glory passively destroying all these poor holes lol. The artwork so far has been great as always if you’ve seen Hotcha’s art before, and I can’t wait to get to the story parts drawn by some of the other featured artists. My only request so far would be a dedicated controller mode, since I’m playing on a steam deck, but it’s perfectly functional right now just a little bit janky to aim since the right joystick works as a mouse rather than a joystick. Love the game so far and I hope it’s successful enough to make future ones! You can really feel the love put into it.
So, let me be fair: I wanted to like this. I really wanted to. And as far as the story, voice acting and drawn artwork goes, I did. And there is definitely potential for a good game here. If the gameplay matched with the characters, this could be a powerhouse for new gay gaming, mixing a visual novel and rogue-like Diablo style main levels. And that why i really hate to say this. The gameplay was not what I expected. And, unfortunately, I mean that in a bad way. From to outset, I was expecting it to play similar to Diablo or Hades, and based on other reviews it sounded like that was what I would get. Unfortunately, It wasn't that. In presentation it was exactly those, but the gameplay didn't match that. It was more along the lines of The Binding of Issac, which is a major disconnect with how the story presents Drake. I went in expecting a brawler, and instead get a slow moving shooter. The powerups were wither overpowered or felt useless.
Lets start by reviewing the game portion of the game. The Game play is solid for this game while also being Horny enough and including enough things that make it obvious that it is a nsfw, and in particular gay, game. It plays a lot like vampire survivors to me but is honestly a bit harder then that I think. I found combos that worked wonderful and combos I did not want to get again. The runs are short enough with the "final boss" appearing at about 10 minutes in. However, I often found myself not immediately killing them, either because I couldn't or because I was having too much fun with the combo I had made. The graphics for the game are a bit rough on the models but passable. The effects for the weapons were actually pretty good. when you go a full fusion combo, it felt strong and fun. The gameplay loop was to go in, try and kill the boss and then spend money to level up, which was also how you unlocked the story element of the game. The visual novel is good with enough twists and turns to keep you guessing but also just hot sex to keep you jerking. It is very clearly in hotchas style, so if you like big muscle himbos, big asses, big ♥♥♥♥♥, and a fair amount of kink, you will love it. The voice over pack is very well done and the choices of voices for every character is well done. Each scene with the voice pack can last a while if you just let it run on auto play, which I do recomend for the first time. there are some moments when the VO messes up and repeats itself or with skip an entire text box, but it is honestly kinda forgivable in the holistic picture of the VN. I was apart of the kickstarter for the game and I am super happy with this product. I would love to see either some DLC for this or for hotcha to continue and make another game with some of his other characters (maybe a certain Hobo). For what the game is and what it is meant to be, 9/10
This game is very fun, can you take care of a Chinese version? Skill diversity design should be more erotic, the fluency needs to be improved, the experience will be better.
TLDR: for a gay porny action game with a Novel attached, it's got good gameplay, and hot art. If you go for the voice acting, it's also quite excellent. I'm one of the many Kickstarters, Hotcha did a Great job getting help getting this game into being, and his art bleeds through in all the right ways. Life's been buy with me, so I'm basing this mostly on when it was in development, and the fact that things have been expanded since. The voice overs really enhance it fully. it's got some awesome tongue in cheek (and other places) dialogue, and homoeroticism runs abound in this "survive the onslaught" game play. Story mode is nicely fleshed out, and should you choose to skip the dialogue, the voice acting narration does a good job keeping pace. the game isn't "easy" though it isn't overly hard (for me yet anyways, though I'm a filthy casual, who enjoyed Hades and Vampire survivors, what do I know?) For a first entry into gaming, this is a quite nice start, and should Hotcha go further, I'd love to see what happens next, even if it's simply DLC for this game, like the other characters from the Kickstarter campaign (lookin' at you Demios), and expanded story/levels/inventory.
Still playing it, but I feel that I've seen everything the game has to offer. It's a bare bones Vampire Survivors with the only difference between active shooting (with a reload time) and a special ability that differs between the two characters. The story sets it up to where it would make sense to be able to play way more characters, but you can't unlock them which is odd to me. The progression system is a lot worse than VS as well. Instead of exploring levels to find new skills for the leveling up, you just spend 500 coins on them. This is, to me, the biggest issue with the game. It just makes the game so much more dull. Because now instead of an area that's [usually; with some exceptions] endless repeating assets you get a tiny little arena to walk around in and kill things until you're done. The abilities are various uses of sexual concepts, mostly, which I find amusing. That's it. As another review mentioned there's also a disconnect between the story and the combat you experience and it could have easily been better designed. The art is incredible, the voice acting DLC is nice, though I will say that the story is a bit slow in it's pacing. Particularly with the voices since the delivery has lots of pauses. The lore is interesting [thus far obviously]. The CGs are amazing. It's not a bad game, it's just a bit underwhelming in how they approached the idea. Which is why I still recommend it. It just could have been a lot more. I'd suggest a sale if you care about gameplay depth at all, but if you don't care I feel that the story content is worth it and you earn gold fast enough that you aren't required to play much before you unlock tons of story content. Even with the shortcomings, it's certainly one of the best of the gay adult games available on Steam.
If you're familiar with any of the comics associated with any of these characters you're in for a treat. The action plays like a gay version of Vampire Survivors and can be pretty challenging depending on how you pick your spells (start with multi-shot). The story runs as a visual novel centered on deception, manipulation, domination and lust. The DLC voice pack is awesome with all the voices not only fit each character, but the reading is also excellent. I only have two small gripes, but neither is a deal breaker. First, I wish it had branching paths to discover based on player choice, but it's just something I hope gets implemented in future projects. The other thing I was hoping to see were animated scenes, which there are none. The scenes are done very well though so I am not disappointed. I'll be watching for any other games coming from this developer with high expectations. Maybe even an expansion on Drake's Dungeon? Fingers crossed.
Satisfying, addictive game play not much more you could want for a title like this!
