Korean RPG similar in Vein to Genshin, has the feel of a Gatcha, without the bank account drain.
Normally, when I like a game but have important complaints I downvote to make my concerns more visible (also most of the time my downvote is meaningless, since the score ), but since I like the game and it's close to hitting "overwhelmingly positive" I'll upvote but share my complaints anyways: 1.- No native antialiasing, which means you're forced to play with an upscaled resolution (fsr/tsr) 2.-Despite not running at a native resolution, the game DOES NOT RUN as something with this kind of graphics and upscaled resolution should. A game like this should run at least at native 1080p 90fps IMO, but it's 60-90 upscaled (Not bad, but it can be improved I think) 3.- The game has the same screen flickering issue as Monster Hunter wilds when using AMD freesync, so be sure to disable it before launching the game 4.- The interface has remains from it's mobile game past, so some elements things are uncomfortable to use with a controller 5.-Some UI elements have low resolution texture 6.-The lock on system can be annoying at times, because single press cycles through the targets ands long press disables lock on, so when you're fighting switching targets is very slow, and the camera doesn't help (normally in this kind of games, to quickly switch targets, you disable the lock on, move the camera to your desired target and re enable the lock on, which is smoother than this game implementation) 7.- I'm pretty sure the game as a bug where the killing animation slow-mo becomes permanent until you restart the game (The slow mo is not that aggressive so Its subtle, but noticeable) Apart from that I think it is a very fun game, the combat is what I expected genshin impact to be. The characters are very likable and the best of all is that there are not predatory microtransactions nor time limited events, I've always wanted an offline gacha-like game , and this one delivers . I hope the review score reaches overwhelmingly postive bc I want the studio to be succesful
"Gacha without gacha" is a pretty accurate descriptor, but DragonSword is really elevated. Fans of the original Hound13 team from DN days will remember super fun, intricate combat that feels ultra satisfying, NPCs with personality that feel powerful and worldly, and progression that rewards grind without feeling like you have to put in 1000 hours to get past the next DPS check. There are definitely a few odds and ends that feel unfinished from a story standpoint, and it's clear the game was rushed out while pivoting from a gacha at the last second, with a barrel full of random currencies that can be exchanged for a million different bits and bobs to level skills, craft equipment, etc. People inexperienced with gachas or MMORPGs might struggle to understand the order of priority for progression and find themselves falling behind. But the world is beautiful and polished. Mounts can climb, swim and fly seamlessly, combat is smooth as butter, and the mobs and field bosses feel super balanced and scale perfectly with world level. The "combo-based" system is so well implemented and makes teambuilding super fun. Even the paid skins are beautiful, and each one has a whole story to go along with it. I can't recommend DragonSword enough. The only thing it's missing is true multiplayer outside of raids, then the community would really thrive. It's so full of heart, it's clear the devs love this project to bits. I'm so excited to see what the second half update brings.
Like Genshin Impact but without the shame.
7.5/10
