Dr. Spacezoo is a challenging but fun indie twin stick shooter with good retro pixel graphics and catchy music. It starts slow as you must learn to resist your ingrained instinct to blow everything up but picks up steam and complexity pretty quickly. The bosses are fun and take different weapons and tactics to overcome. Recommended for fans of retro twin stick shooter games, even more fun and chaotic with local co-op.
A Twin Stick Action Shooter
https://youtu.be/PV9qmyVzJbI + Pretty fun gameplay. Basically, the AI in the AI maintained "Spacezoo's" have gone haywire, and you have to go to each one, destroy the robot enemies / turrets and attempt to pickup as many animals as you can. Although...your weapons are overly powerful making it very easy to "accidentally" kill the animals. + A great upgrade system letting you upgrade various stats, while also allowing you modify your weapons to make them faster, stronger, or even home-seeking. You find upgrades throughout the game, but mainly from bosses. + The bosses are all unique and very challenging + Good soundtrack + Visually, it was a bit hard at times to tell the difference between animals and enemies, especially considering the animals tend to blend in with the background of the floors. + A tad too much screen shaking mixed with massive particle explosions from each enemy that you kill makes it hard at times to tell where enemy fire is coming from or what you should be dodging.

Amazing game for the long time I have played it throughout its development! New and awesome turns keep coming up with each new update and I really love the retro 8-bit 2d mashup reminding me of some of the earlier adventure side scrollers I used to play. Can't wait to see what comes about in the future!
Really a fun game! I enjoyed it as a single player game.... But this thing really shines when you play with other people - it has a chaotic/smash bros sort of vibe to it. The zoo animals are pretty amusing and each individual level is pretty short and sweet (at least for quite a while). Also - I had been playing this with WASD & a mouse --> but it is a much funner experience with a twin stick controller.
This is a action packed game that keeps me guessing and laughing. It seems easy, but then suddenly you have been out gunned by some kind of space zoo AI and some sweet space graffes or space pigs or some other sweet pixelated space zoo inhabitant has been left behind due to your carelessness. You are instantly motivated to try again! The colors and explosions are beautiful. The weapons at your disposal are nicely balanced... you can do alright for a while bashing wth the one weapon you start with... but soon you discover the rest and it makes you happy. I haven't tried multiplayer yet, but it be great, of course, since the game itself is already great. The developer showed this game at a game expo in DC, MAGFest two years ago. there have been so many improvements! You will not be disappointed if you buy this game!
Fun shoot 'em up without the linear nature of typical sidescrollers. Blow up aliens but don't hit the animals. Would be better with a joystick but was fine with keyboard and mouse. Levels are starting to get a bit challenging after 12+ or so..
Fun twin stick shooter with a cool twist - blasting your lasers everywhere might work to get rid of your enemies, but if your not careful you'll blow up the helpless space animals you are tasked with saving. The recent addition of a Permadeath mode is a cool one. Nice to jump in on a session and see how far I can make it (the answer: not very far). Favorite weapon is probably drunken homing missiles, though it kills pretty much everything when I use it. Music is very fitting with the funky/quirky vibe of the game's story. Looking forward to the planned additions!
