I loved this game. It was fun and had so much potential. But, the dev just decided to call it "done" and abandoned it. Make no mistake, this is not a finished game. Calling it done was just a "get our of early access" ass pull. Very buggy, empty areas, quests that either cannot be started, completed, or just dead end. Mechanics that look like there should be something, but isn't. No stamina, HP, or even a use for upgraded tools. It could have been great...
DO NOT BUY THIS GAME! IT CURRENTLY HAS MULTIPLE BROKEN QUESTS AND HAS BEEN ABANDONED BY THE LAZY DEVELOPERS AND YOU WILL HIT A WALL AND NOT BE ABLE TO PROGRESS! ALSO DO NOT BUY OTHER GAMES FROM THEM AS THEY DO NOT FINISH MAKING THEM AND LEAVE THEM IN A BAD STATE. Its a really good game until you have to do a quest where something has a chance of dropping, you'll spend HOURS and get hundreds and hundreds of items. The drop rate on these items is probably 1/500 and will take days or even weeks on in game time to obtain. The game has long been abandoned and the devs just dont care about it.
Buggy solution for your problems.
This game feels pretty underbaked. There's building and farming, as expected from a voxel farming game, but both are really clunky and bare-bones, yet somehow too complicated. Your plants can die when forgetting to water them, but the high-tier sprinklers are some of the most expensive items in the game. There are also way too many tools that don't need to exist and could either be replaced by other ones or completely left out. It doesn't help that proper storage options are limited to shelves. Crafting is also way too convoluted, with way too many crafting stations to keep track of. The amount of content is really lacking. You won't find much to use past what's being sold or crafted. There are seasonal events, but they feel inconsequential. There's not much to be done besides walking around and interacting with one game mechanic a bit more than you otherwise would have. The NPCs really put the "NP" in "NPC". None of them have anything to do besides walking around, asking you for things and eventually become roommates (not even married?) when you get their friendship level high enough. Overall, it's just a milk-toast experience that should absolutely not cost more money than Stardew Valley.
This game is very buggy and there's a lot that's really unsatisfying about it, it needs a lot of bug and quality of life fixes but it has so much potential. Everything about it is very charming and as a new player I really like it even if it's unpolished. It's one of those projects I wish I had an obscene amount of money to sponsor further updates and stuff. It's just really really charming and combines a few different types of games together to make something really satisfying. I often want to combine the sandbox capabilities of minecraft with games like stardew and animal crossing and this does just that and that's really fun. The NPCs and overall style is really cute too. Even if the devs never update this again: thank you, I love you.
Stardew Valley meets Minecraft, a nice change of pace when you get tired of other cozy games.
it's a stacked game. 3D, pixel art, and Stardew valley. There are lots of quests, you can break the world however you want, and generally do whatever you want. There are small events on different dates, you can do livestock breeding, farming, or dismantle villagers' houses to earn money. Completing 100% is pretty stuffy and tedious, with all the bug collecting and fishing required. In general
unfinished and abandoned
Staxel is a game that I was hoping would capture a little of the "Lightning in a bottle" that is Stardew Valley for me, as I'm currently abstaining from that after hearing of the 1.7 release. Thankfully, It did, and while Staxel has some shortcomings and some general feelings of abscence brought about by some features not being fully fleshed out, overall, It was a really fun experience that I enjoyed taking part in. Staxel does have some issues though. Some of the systems can feel a little underbaked - cooking, for example, is an important part of Staxel, but there's a surprising number of crops that have no use in that system despite having good analogues ready to take their place - Cocoa can't be turned into chocolate, Tangerines can't be used for pies or preserves, Coffee can't be made into Coffee and so on - which is a shame, considering that the game wants to encourage you to create a wide variety of items and goods to sell due to it's economic system lowering the price according to your supply, much like Slime Rancher. Animals also feel a little underbaked - they have a tendency to escape their barns or coops, and several animals produce near useless produce (or sometimes none at all), which can leave going down that route feeling a little lacking. This is further compounded by the fact that there's no "Auto Grabber" or something similar to help manage your animals , meaning that manually milking and shearing them becomes a time-consuming but essential part of your short days. I will say, though, the vast majority of Staxel is really well done. The idea of combining a minecraft-esque building system with a farming sim leads to some delightful combinations and creative freedoms - the fact that the villagers (each of whom feel like actual characters with personalities and purposes) also ask you to build things as you progress through their friendships is another fantastic reason why I think they're an excellent addition. Crop diversity is also pretty high, and having several crops that grow all year round (and some that grow in winter) means the core gameplay loop isn't hindered by the seasons, and allows the player to diversify appropriately when they roll around. Festivals and events are generally very small things, but they add a little extra life to the world of Staxel and it's greatly appreciated - as do the questlines offered by NPC's that really let you get a grasp of what they're like as characters, and give you even more things to do creatively. While Staxel is a game that feels, in some ways, unfinished - a lack of purpose for some items, a little thin on the characterisation in places, some systems (like the murmur merchants) taking up far too much of the item pool relative to actually playing the game - It's still a cozy, comfortable game that I find very enjoyable to play. While there's no end-game, or cutoff point like you might find in Stardew, Staxel's sandbox contains a wide variety of tools and features to keep a player entertained for a long time - especially with it's price point. While I don't think it'll replace something like Stardew for me, it's certainly a prefferable alternative to Minecraft in terms of its building, and I think has a boatload of charm and character that help the experience stay fun and enjoyable as you engage with it's core gameplay loop. I'd say that this game is worth it, even without a sale, and could provide you with a lot more entertainment than the single playthrough I spent on it.
