STORY
Inspired by the "hero" shooters of the late 90s such as Duke Nukem, Blake Stone, and Wolfenstein 3D, DOSMan: Space Aliens in Space is a retro FPS game where players take on the role of the titular, DOSMan.
Aliens have invaded Planet DOS, and are wreaking havoc upon the population. It’s up to DOSMan and a colorful cast of hilariously incompetent characters to beat them back and restore order to the once-peaceful planet.

Very cute little boom shoot, reminds me a bit of Chex Quest lol
"DOSMan: Space Aliens in Space!" is another "boomer shooter" from DOSMan... basically another GzDoom kitbash, think of this as a mod/TC for the original DooM (which you can play for free, where this is a paid product... that is not as good as DooM... you can see this is a problem). I will say this slightly comedy themed shooter is one of the better DOSman boomer shooters, in no small part because it's basically a complete ripoff of Duke Nuke'm 3D (but again, not as good). Aliens invade, comedy theme, run around primitive 3D rendered raycaster looking levels and shoot the aliens. And, unlike most DOSman boomer shooters, this one has proper guns! It's still not worth buying. On the upside, the game does feature customisable controls and resolution, so at least some of the basic, minimum requirements have been met. Unfortunately there's a number of other technical defects and shortcomings which contribute to the game being difficult to recommend to gamers. The game features lazy low-polygon "retro" assets with crap 2D retro pixel "art" textures on them, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the early 1990s. This very poor quality visual style is a method that lazy devs often use to disguise their lack of talent/interest in doing the graphics properly and trying to disguise it under the name of "art", or "We made it look bad on purpose", which really isn't something gamers should have to put up with. It's unclear why the developers weren't willing to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets and high resolution textures for the game. It looks bad as a result of their decisions, worse, it doesn't authentically recreate the 1990's vibe the developer is hoping people will accept instead of doing their job properly, and that's just another reason to avoid it. Those technical flaws drag this game well below the minimum quality standards expected of a modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 4 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 130 million gamers on Steam and well over 140,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 140,000+ games on Steam? "DOSMan: Space Aliens in Space!" is relatively cheap at $3 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend. This is also competing with over 14,000 free games available on Steam, many of them far better than this paid product. If you want a retro shooter experience, try playing the originals. They're all up on Steam and are much better than this retrograde me-too wannabe.
Profile Features Limited! Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.
Fun, short, and simple retro style shooter. Very much inspired by Blake Stone. It's well made, so I think it is definitely worth the modest price they ask. The only thing I found annoying were the amount of rooms filled with alien eggs that will hatch into full blown aliens that will chase you if you shoot them. At first, it was a cool Alien-style homage, but it quickly got annoying as I had to meticulously plan every shot to avoid getting overrun with hatched aliens. That said, the hatched aliens also do very little damage, but they can group up and be a pain. I would definitely recommend this game to any fan of those old PC shooters.
"DOSMan: Space Aliens in Space!" is another fun, bite-sized boomer shooter from this publisher. In "DOSMan: Space Aliens in Space!" you shoot aliens that have invaded the planet, and they stole one singular chick. She has big boobs, you save her at the end (thank god). "DOSMan: Space Aliens in Space!" gives you a standard array of weapons, and each weapon is represented with lovely sprites. Even the enemies have received the lovely sprite treatment. My biggest complaint about "DOSMan: Space Aliens in Space!" is the enemy-ammo ratio; you will not have enough ammo for every enemy (unless you put the knife to good use). Also, while the shotgun looks and sounds awesome, its efficacy is poor. ROF is king, and its slow fire along with weak damage makes it a last-resort weapon. "DOSMan: Space Aliens in Space!" is fun, has a lovely artstyle, and some very light but endearing voice acting. If you like these things, you should definitely buy "DOSMan: Space Aliens in Space!".
Fun little retro shooter that reminds me of a mild Blake Stone :)

Great game for getting kids prepped for Wolfenstein 3D age.
Fun 90 minutes!
An ok short boomer-shooter that seems to be inspired by the likes of Wolfenstein 3D, even though this game does use freelook and it's using stairs and blocks, so it's not a single-height game like Wolfenstein 3D. Maps are fairly short and I never really got lost even though there's no automap available. Took me less than 80 minutes to beat. Enemies aren't too threatening and it is a fairly easy difficulty game.
This is a great casual entry in its genre with vibrant visuals, simple but satisfying gameplay, and plenty of old school charm. It is also very affordable and comes in a lot of bundles...so there's really not too much going against picking this one up and trying it out, especially if you see it on sale. I do see a trend with a quick glance at the other reviews regarding the length. Personally, I prefer shorter experiences more often than not, so The game only taking an hour, hour and half or so (depending on how much you explore or start sequences over) is pretty reasonable to me. I didn't die too much, but I will highly recommend using the save feature to prevent having to replay lengthier sections. If you're very familiar with this genre, you're going to see a lot of familiar tropes in a fairly colorful packaging. For everyone else, this is a nice entry to dip your toes into the genre with.
