About
Doomfields is an autobattler roguelite focused on team composition, various upgrades and loot.
Your goal is to build a team that will reach Doomfields and beyond. After entering a room on the map, you (usually) fight. After starting combat, you can admire as your team defeats the enemies.
At the beginning, you choose one of three archetypes: Fighter, Rogue and Mystic.
At level 10 every archetype splits into three new sub-archetypes focused on special gameplay styles and abilities. For example, Fighter splits into Warrior, Knight and Guard. At 20 you get to choose ANOTHER one of three archetypes based on previous choices.
Repeat that for up to 5 characters in your team (you get a new character every stage).
In short: 3 main archetypes -> 9 sub-archetypes -> 27 sub-sub archetypes with unique abilities and mechanics.
Based on that, try building the best team with units that will complement and support each other.
But that's not all. You get epic loot that affects certain abilities or has abilities of its own. There are also keepsakes that support the whole team in various ways, team guidelines and tactics that also affect how your team behaves.
Game also allows asynchronous PvP so you can battle other players teams!
All that customization above creates one of the deepest roguelites out there.

A quadruple ++++ implementation of this particular style of singleplayer autobattler game, the best I've seen since "Astronarch" really kicked off the indie scene's renaissance. The jobs system is a real highlight here, being both creative and fun AND well-polished AND ultimately very rewarding in terms of "feeling your decisions", you get to build out your characters in a variety of ways and they all feel fun, seriously different and choices are big on effect size. When it comes down to it Doomfields does what it set out to do well and at a great price point. I've even seen it at 60% off sale! Let's be clear: even if you're strapped for cash or super cheap then with a bit of alertness it seems that you should be able to grab Doomfields for a steal if that's what's needed to get this gem into your library, but really it's *totally worth it even at full price*. I'd feel comfortable recommending a friend pick it up any time. A Rant About Autobattlers: I have an additional ranty point that's not so much about the game itself as its genre. Doomfields is an *autobattler*. That means player input is all about builds and there is *zero* direct control over combat. Some people aren't fans and that's all good, but it's sad when people who dislike or don't understand an entire genre downvote a particular developer's effort when no implementation would have pleased them. It's fine to not like autobattlers but they're not "bad" for lacking C/T/S/J-RPG decision-making, that's just literally the genre's style and it may or may not be to your taste. Folks instinctively understand Sid Meier's Civilization isn't rubbish just because they can't be bothered learning it all, DotA/LoL aren't bad just because they still suck, AoE2 / SC2 / WC3 aren't bad just cuz they can't yet micro, some random match-3 isn't crappy just because they hate match-3 and FPS isn't garbage just because they've always had too piss poor a reaction time for Halo or CS. Yet for some reason, autobattlers so so often get screwed over like all the time by being judged ruthlessly harshly by people who aren't even actually of the opinion the game itself is bad but rather they just played their very first autobattler and decided they don't like the entire genre, only they don't yet realize it's an entire hitherto "undiscovered by them" genre they dislike and not just some particularly weird new low-input RPG lol. /End pointless rant, oh well lol, I like dis gaem.
This is a mobile game port. No tooltips, no explanation. PVP doesn't work. Full price is way too much, even for 8€ I wish that I could still refund.
A bit rough around the edges when it comes to UI and explaining game mechanics but if you are into roguelite autobattlers it is an easy pick up between the amount of content and the PvP. The steam version also ditches the microtransactions of the mobile version and has completely separate leaderboards if that is a concern for anyone.
UI is terrible making the game unplayable for me. Clearly this is a mobile game ported to PC and they didn't even bother to mix the UI for PC.
No way to save during a run
the mobile game is free and better than this, also this isn't being updated, but seems like mobile is or was beyond this.
its fun if you like making builds and seeing them last or die, its exactly what it looks like, but well done
A must have for roguelike fans! TLDR: Game contains all the stuff that makes an RPG/ Roguelike great + it's an autobattler - so you focus on building/ upgrading your team. What is especially good about this game is that it features just the right difficulty to challenge you, but it's not punishing enough to force you to start looking up op builds. A lot of depth and strategy in this rogulike, while it never gets too complicated. The formula is simple, but very well executed: 1) You climb through a dungeon tree and gather up to 5 characters that you pick from 3 different classes which can further evolve into various other subclasses twice. Each of those adds a different set of spells and abilities that can be upgraded 2) Characters can be equipped with items that can be socketed with gems, reforged, or upgraded 3) Game features various other opportunities to enhance your team (e.g. common upgrades, relics, events in dungeon, etc.) 4) At the end of a run you can choose to fight other players in PvP or just submit your score 5) There is some meta progression in the game, but skill is much more important than the impact of the perks to complete runs (meta is somewhat important for PvP/ Arena advantage though) 6) Game offers excellent replayability compared to similarly priced games.
Love it! Deceptively deep, addictive loop, great QoL features. Ticks every box I love about games. Would love better controller/Steam Deck support, but that’s very minimal. I’ll be playing this for a while.
