In short, everything wrong with the game (details below): 1.Boring, uninspired, repetitive puzzles 2.No proper plot 3.The games is FULL of bugs both literal and figurative to the point of being unplayable 4.Most puzzles are just a waste of time 5.Cannot save at will, also if you start another puzzle before finishing the last -> all progress lost 6.SO overpriced Details: 1. The "puzzles" are mostly searching for specific objects in a room full of objects (example: toy animals all around the room -> find the bear, the cat and the penguin). I thought at first that this was a one-time puzzle, but apparently 80% of the "puzzles" in this game are exactly that. There are 5-6 "rearrange the squares to make a picture" puzzles and maybe 3-4 "find the differences in the images" puzzles, which were my favourite. Finally, there were 2 nearly impossible puzzles with no hints and no instructions, so it was a matter of wasting time trying to make every configuration possible to find the right one. Finally, the most frustrating puzzles were the "find 30 coconuts or cans or bottles" games where you had to run around the map for 20 minutes to find all the objects. This was by far the longest part. These puzzles felt like the game devs were just stalling to make you feel like you didn't just spend 8$ on a game that had zero effort put into it. 2. The plot was really thin. Crashed on an island, for some reason I have to complete weird puzzles, there are houses and mannequins on most of the islands for no reason. 3. Bugs.... Literal: Do not play this game if you have a fear of bugs, especially spiders. The "find these animals" searches I mentioned include oversized bugs. Figurative/game bugs: This games is almost unplayable. You cannot even walk up stairs, you have to sort of jump and try to make it to the top. A lot of puzzles have to be restarted because the last object is non-existant or cannot be clicked because of some strange bug in the game. You 4. Like I said, most of the puzzles are "collect 20 of these things" on a huge map where it is impossible to find everything without wasting 20-30 minutes and using several hints. It feels like the puzzles were simply made to waste the player's time. 5. Moreover, you cannot save progress except for "autosaves" in the game. If you start another puzzle without completing the first, you lose all progress in the first. That means if you collect 20/25 objects you need and accidentally or intentionally start another puzzle, the objects don't stay in your "inventory" they simply go back to where you found them and you have to restart everything. 6. Save your 8-9$ for something else. So not worth your money.
Just bought bundle pack and am regretting it. I have an issue in both games during opeing level. In Treasure Island it is the find the mistakes puzzle. It does not respond to my mouse commands in any way. I the other game the first paper puzzle has a piece stuck off to the side I can not pick up or move. all other puzzles are working so it is not a mouse isssue. Please fix as I was enjoying the concept but the product I recieved is a rip off. Sadly this is my first steam purchase made without a demo. I won't make that mistake again.
https://youtu.be/MNgWojoy40I The room based hidden object puzzles are novel but searching for small items across larger areas is a major pain and not worth the effort.
Doctor Watson - Treasure Island is an ancient game from 2012. It's a whopping 11 years old at the time of this review. The game lacks support for any modern gaming display resolutions (or widescreen monitors), hasn't been modernised or updated to run smoothly on modern gaming PCs. Despite this lack of modernisation, it carries a pretty high price tag for such an ancient game. This seems to have been put on Steam as a nostalgia gouge. To say this is a bad game would be an insane understatement. The general idea is that you play Doctor Watson (not Sherlock Holmes, just Watson) and you run around and dig up treasure after you dive off a cruise ship (for no apparent reason). The only treasure that's been dug up here is Arthur Conan Doyle, so the developers spit on his corpse. This truly is garbage. Like, the cruise liner you dive off is a contemporary 21st century ship. WTF? Then we're back to the 19th century for the rest of the game. It goes downhill sharply from there, with craptastically bad graphics, pointless single room mini-puzzles, collecting badly textured coconuts... at BEST, this is like a bad MMORPG without any RPG elements. Click on 10 rats. Despite the (terrible) 3D graphics, this makes Artifex Mundi mobile apps look sophisticated. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. While there are options to change the resolution for the game, all this does is scale up the simplistic 2D art assets used to make the game, which makes little or no difference to the graphics quality. Without any other substantial graphics tweaks, it's not possible for gamers to improve the lacklustre 2D visuals. The game features lazy low-polygon "retro" assets, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the mid 2000s. It's unclear why the developers weren't able to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets for the game, and also irrelevant... what matters is that this looks bad as a result of their decisions, a compromise PC gamers shouldn't have to put up with. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 4 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from (over 9,000 completely free titles), the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. Doctor Watson - Treasure Island is relatively expensive for an abandonware nostalgia gouge, at $4 USD, and it's not worth it. The game is just too old, hasn't been modernised. And as the old saying goes, you can't go home again. Even when it was new, this was never a triple-A game. This is the kind of game that went almost directly from the warehouse into the cheap bargain bins at the front of the shop. Now, on Steam, without any modernisation? This is impossible to recommend.

Beautiful graphic, but that is the only good thing about it. For me it seems that a graphic designer has tried to make a game, but haven't thought it properly through. The puzzles are boring and not very challenging. Maybe an exciting game for children. I have finished the game, but only because I hoped that it would be more challenging. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. And what has Dr. Watson got to do with it??
Euh non, Ennuyant, incontrôlable... Passez votre tour..
