After being particularly moved by a scene in the game, I decided to ALT+TAB over to Steam to catch my breath. A glance at the Store page... "Only Positive with 26 reviews!?" This review was born from my outrage at not seeing either of two key adverbs: Very or Overwhelmingly. Top-Tier Writing - Coming from the also fantastic Monster Girl 1,000, it doesn't disappoint whatsoever. - Not sure if it was originally written in English, but it contains tons of enjoyable phrasing and subtext that is missing in many translated H-games. - Awesome character development. Insight into all the characters' thoughts and feelings is really well done. I wish I had the MC's superhuman ability to perceive body language and expressions. I had to raise my in-game Insight and Charisma stats because it made no role-playing sense with the things he understands and says.
Celica's "Friendship" conversation really got me in the feels.
- Super Spicy Sex Text.
Choosing Sarah on the first night back at the house was the best choice I ever made. The description of that night (including the buildup) made it one of my favorite sex scenes ever.
Combat user-interface is a bit unwieldy. However the combat system design and balance is really good. There are so many options in character customization, a mechanic I really enjoy. Not ideal for someone looking for a quick in and out. If you have no interest in getting to know the characters or are annoyed by "slow starts" in adult games, it's probably not for you. Can't comment conclusively on copiousness of content, but looks extremely promising. Now, back to the game!
This is the first time I've encountered a game that requires you to save so often. So far, this is the most expansive boobas RPG novel I've had the pleasure of playing with I've already cracked a hundred titles. It promises to be the longest production I've had to deal with. ⢻⣿⣿⣿⡿⢿⣿⣿⣗⣂⠄⠄⠄⠈⢉⣿⠿⠿⠿⠿⠿⢸⣿⣿⣿ ⣆⢻⣿⣿⣿⣦⣍⡛⠛⠛⢃⣾⣿⣿⣿⠋⣤⣄⣀⢲⠆⣸⣿⣿⣿ ⣿⠈⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⡿⢠⣍⣛⣉⠂⣼⣿⣿⣿⣿ ⣿⡇⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⡇⢸⣿⣿⡇⠄⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿ ⣿⣷⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⡇⢸⣿⣿⠄⡇⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿ ⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣟⡛⡻⠿⠆⣹⠃⣼⢇⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿ ⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣙⡛⠻⠿⠿⣿⣴⣶⡟⢁⣼⣿⣾⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿ ⢿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣷⣶⣶⡾⢋⣴⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿ and the sex battles with companions will only make it longer.
Surprisingly deep combat and lore, lovable cast of characters, and nary a whisper of NTR.
Ignore my Playtime on steam, I had 26 hours playing the game outside of Steam. As an explorer of indie games, RPG maker and VN style games. We have this little gem called Divine Dawn. Where the choices shape your character's personality and the world around you. Lets get into the nitty gritty of the game: Divine Dawn is a VN style game with turn based combat. You play as a humble young lad who gets into things far grander than he would expect. With companions, copius amounts of weapons, armor and magic at your disposal its up to you to move forward. The good Artwork: A lot of the artwork is made by humble human hands, especially the heroines that you meet along your journey. The character designs are all nice, expressive and each have their charms that is sure to at least catch your attention. Story/Characters: Being early access, the story of course is not fully finished. But what we do have is a nice story. From humble beginnings you follow the MC who gets dragged to events that are far beyond your normal farmboy life. With choices that can matter, and companions all with special unique dialogue for areas it makes the world more alive and gives charm to your companions with you on the journey. Gameplay: Your humble turn based combat, however unlike other games Divine Dawn does not side line you to pick a single class and go through the game like that. The options you have to fight are as limited as your creativity, Glass cannon, mage, evasive assassin type, magi blade, elemental mage, pyromancer, the list goes on. Of course it can feel a bit overwhelming with the amount of options you have, you can always re-spec builds if you find that the build you went for might not be cutting it. Smexyness: Its an adult game, you probably got it for smex. Its got a few of those and will get more. Nuff said. Neutral: Music?: A more moot point, the music is nice to listen to, but for those who play a lot of VN's or RPG maker games you might hear a familiar track or two Character content: For those that do like a character more than others, be warned that the game is still in development so a character that you like and want more content for will take time. Bad: Early Access: Its still an early access game, Its indeed unnerving to support any early access on steam given some other games with the same tag carries risk that the game might not be the same, not be completed or other risks. Overall: Divine Dawn is a nice little gem of a game, it had a lot of potential in a nice living world, wonderful characters and a wide combat system leaves a solid basis for so much creativity. With a MC that you yourself can build the personality for, you have a great 'indie' gem that is definitely worth the price tag if your looking for a good story and likable characters. And it can only get better from here.
Came by hyped for what I've read in the descriptions; ended up refunding. Silly as it may sound, I thought it would be fun as heck to play a more stoic, "uninterested in sex"-type of character in this NSFW world. It's my favorite RPing trope. ... But merely 3 hours in, a succubi comes, says "seggs?" (mind you, he was not compelled in any way, shape or form), and my supposedly-stoic-character has three answers to it: 1. Yes. 2. YES. 3. F#CK YES WOOF WOOF BARK *TONGUE LULS* (obviously exaggerated for dramatic effect; but my only answers were indeed "yes, I want it bad", followed by my character bragging about f#cking succubi post-choice) Like, c'mon. What happened to, as per the game's description; "shaping how he handles situations"?
While its advertised as a lewd story, the game in practice is more like a grand traditional RPG story/visual novel covering the "hero's journey". The writing and characterization is solidly A-tier. If you're a fan of grand stories, grand adventures, and deep world building with some adult content and some meaningful decisions, this game will be for you. Best comparison I could make is: if you were a fan of MGQ, you'll be a fan of this title as well. The only criticism I have to levy at this title is that the development is extremely slow in early access, but that's just simply a side-effect of the high-standards and thoughtfulness the author puts in towards this work. At the time of this review, I can definitely recommend wish-listing this title or diving in right now to experience what effectively feels like a Prologue+Chapter 1 of a much larger conspiracy unfolding.
If you watched a single isekai anime and thought "why can't I wake up surrounded by waifu" then you haven't started this game. You're only discounting yourself if you write off your BFF and honestly you're getting off light by doing that. The OST is A M A Z I N G. The artwork closely rivals it, the creator has does an amazing job at providing a fantastic game experience in this genre, if you disagree with me you can fight me in a Denny's parking lot (sorry, I'm too scared to go to Waffle House right now).
actual Peak.

character creation\building is intricate and complicated enough to be very interesting but not enough to overwhelm
(unless you pick berserk lmao)

writing, world building and characters are written at a level opposite of a typical harem anime. people have flaws, ask interesting questions and clearly made with love.
background art is really good, character art is is cute and pleasant, the only kinda bad part is that there's little to no adult content in an adult game?? but i guess more art will arrive with updates.
the amount of content is shocking, at my 28hr mark i did basically nothing
(for reference i just completed like 1st or 2nd semi-global task that i got like at a 15-30min mark)
but i would drop if that bothered me or if i would've been the least bit bored, and as you can guess that is not the case.

the only parts i think need some love:
sex scenes, a list of status effects(like bleed enrage etc, had to test them in battle to see what they do), competative sex was rough to comprehend, and it's sad to see that some weapons get more love than others. overal game's 9\10 imo, feels like baldurs gate 2d or D&D
i suspect that latter's the case and this all is dev's D&D game lmao
Divine Dawn is one of these extra-rare lewd RPGs, where the lewd scenes are actually just a bonus and you suddenly notice that you're enjoying the combat, stat systems and most of all, the narration and the characters. At that point, it's almost a shame to use it for you know what, thought I didn't have any problem with that either, because I found the dirty talk actually pretty hot, well written and yet, something that feels like it could have been said by a real person. More precisely, it's a visual novel (or text-based) JRPG or at least, I use that term loosely for any RPG that has a growing party of characters, turn-based battles and mostly linear plot. There are some conversational choices and you're free to build a relationship with any of your party members, which you do by interacting with them during camping, exploring and small conversations. However, there is no actual dungeon-crawling on a map, but rather, just visual novel-style narration and 1st person dungeon-crawler style combat encounters. The narration by the way, is quite witty, slightly sarcastic yet thoughtful, with characters that actually feel like real people, with real problems, while still managing to be comedic. You have a slight hint of the common writer's problem where the main character has to play psychologist for the other characters, but thankfully he does not end up being blank sheet as a result of this, either. The combat builds you can have are also original and fairly open-ended. Really, I can't find a single actual flaw to say about it other than the lack of budget for enemies, scenery and such. Also, on a personal level, I find it slightly irritating that I can make progress on multiple party member's affection levels at the same time, which I suppose is fine for testing purposes and for 'having fun', but the characters are just so damned well written I find myself wanting to do a dedicated play-through for each of them, which I am definitely going to.
Do I recommend "Divine Dawn" - emphatically Yes! Some caveats: *You play as male, I've only seen women companions so far *It's not all sex all the time, and I don't think it should be -In fact I wouldn't be surprised if you could enjoy it without the sex scenes (I welcome more of them out of the roughly dozen I've unlocked so far) *It takes Trust and Affection (work) to get to most of the sex scenes (kind of like real life) * It's not your normal visual novel -it's more like a novel with Cg's splashed in, and allows you to delve deeper into the relationships that interest you the most. *It has RPG elements: levels, stats, points to spend, builds to create, (mostly pertaining to battle that I've seen) *The humor and the word choices are perfect for me as a native English speaker, but it would be very challenging for someone who is not. *There might still be a few bugs (Ripper skill and healing I'm looking at you) -I don't care I'm having too much fun. *There are a lot of women to romance I only have 6 so far I know there are more (only an issue due to quantity of knowledge I want to absorb) *I'm nowhere near done my 1st play through 2/9 current achievements and 15 hours of play time -you do the math -I prefer playing long hours over something I spent money on (that I'm also enjoying) *I was hesitant to buy this, there wasn't a review like mine at the time. I'd buy it again if a reason ever comes up *It may not be finished -I'm ok with that, movies and books have cliffhangers and unanswered questions *So far I've seen a bunch of comedy I like playing a murder hobo while laughing and sprinkle in some sex *No animations for the intimate scenes -The writing holds up without them If none of this turns you off -I have a strong feeling it will turn you on then. -Stay Thirsty and Hydrate properly
