Meet the disposable heroes... A rag-tag band of nobodies who - quite by accident- represent the kingdom's last hope. With the royal army slain it is they who must venture across the land on a quest to bring back the head of the king's son so that the light might return.
Genre
Ein Top Down Action Adventure
Story
Gameplay
~ Enter the game and can't use keyboard on the menu; ~ Choose to use the control and it stops working for no reason; ~ Enter the stage and dies immediately; ~ Enters the stage and get it cleared immediately; ~ An unicorn appears from nowhere and kills everything; ~ Press ESC to go back and it pauses the game instead, on every screen; ~ Don't understand a sh!t about what is happening and uninstall the game. By the way, I found another game inside the game folder, called The Youthdrainers. It's a +18 horror game on Steam. Not sure why it comes together with this game, but it's totally playable, and better than Disposable Heroes itself.
Have you ever played a game so bad it's good? Well, this one is so bad it's terrible, but it has a good heart, a poorly drawn, clunky and badly designed heart, but a heart nonetheless. Disposable Heroes is trying to be a funny, random kind of game, but that's where it fails the most, right after the godawful gameplay and the cringe-inducing graphics. There isn't much of an introduction to be had here, I've barely played it, died about 70 times in the second level, and then the game glitched and I wasn't taking damage anymore, so I only finished it because of that, because without the glitch, I only would've hanged myself, or just quit the game, one or the other. The king and queen are abusing the workers as usual, until a newsboy shouted “Long live the king and his son.” Then the world turned dark as his wife gave birth to the king's son, the child was so ugly, the Sun said “F#CK THAT, I'M OUT!”. So the dirty peasants demanded the king to kill his only child, but the king was out to lunch, for two years, then he noticed the sun wasn't in the sky anymore, and decided that he was going to kill the little malformed being, but the thing heard his father's words through the thin brick and concrete walls of the castle, and fled through a secret passage to the forest, where he'd hide, a two year old, deformed boy, surviving alone in the cursed woods… The king decided that it'd be better to just end this, so he sent his best men to the forest, where they all died, without hope, the kind king drafted some random villagers and sent them to their death as well, hoping that maybe the baby would be killed by one of them. So Harry Potter, Maximus Decimus Meridius, busty woman #15, and Shrek go out on an adventure to die trying to save someone else's kingdom. The story is basically Binding of Isaac and some original parts, Isaac being the baby, and the original parts being the fact that I wanted to shoot myself in the foot. To be perfectly honest though, there isn't anything terribly wrong with the story, it's just unimaginative and uninteresting, so that's that. The narrator lady is pretty talented though. The gameplay is by far the worst part, you can either pick arrow keys and C and V, or WASD and C and V, C being primary attack and V being secondary, the mouse is useless, you won't use it even for the menu. Okay, I've originally played Dark Souls without DSFix, I can handle terrible controls, but man, that doesn't matter, the hitboxes are just randomized, especially the room hazard ones. Some people call this game a rogue-like, but it's not, the loot is random, but you can re-start from the beginning of the level, instead of the whole game, so not a rogue-like. You basically move through the rooms to advance, but don't kill all the enemies before looting all the room, because when you commit monster genocide, you immediately mote to the next room, no choice, nothing… You start with a worthless piece of stick, and you must loot better weapons if you plan on getting through the game, because if you get too close to an enemy, he will hit you 12 times a second, since you don't have any recovery time, so that's not nice, you also can't hit towards a direction you're not facing, so it'll get frustrating to kill enemies charging at you, since you have to walk towards them to hit them. All the characters play the same, they're basically reskins, which is sad, because there could've been some nice variation to make things more bearable, but nope. You also can't play as Shrek without local co-op, probably the game's worse offense, blocking off Shrek. The Graphics are one of the worse attempts I've ever seen at self-aware humour, because it's not funny, it just looks awful, it's all (badly) hand-drawn, or maybe MSPaint-Drawn, and sometimes you can't even distinguish some things from other things, it all just looks terrible and nausea-inducing, the music is fine though, not much to complain there. It just makes me mad that the developer thought that this product might look good, it does look funny, but the terrible controls just kills the mood. Overall, there're many wrongs for this game's rights, and it's just a hassle to play, I couldn't recommend it, I just played all the way through because whoever's up there decided to be nice with me and glitch the game. My playtime: 3.9h (based on steam, 6/10 achievements (not sure how to get the remaining achievements)) Grindy Achievement: No. Optional Achievement: Yes (6 achievements). Difficult Achievement: No. Developer Response: Yes (~1 week; on selected threads). Note that there might be some broken achievements in the game although I'm still not sure which.
Intro
Disposable Heroes is a short rogue like game with some mini games and checkpoints. I said short because it'll only take a few mins before you have to die and restart the game. However, in general, the game is quite long.
Music
The music in this game is great. It has the "royal"-ish theme in it and it's pleasant to hear. The game also have a voice casting that goes well with the theme.
Graphics
The graphics looks unique with its hand drawn-like graphics. The text looks suitable with the graphics and the cutscene also drawn very well. If you see the game's screenshot, that's how the game looks like.
Story
The game doesn't really focus much on the story, although there are some cutscenes here and there. In fact, there is the whole script of the opening cutscene in the game's description. The only ones that worth noting is the ending which is quite pleasant.
The game
The game is quite simple- you go in a dungeon, kill enemies, and try to survive. If you die, you have to restart from the beginning of the area. There are roughly 5+ rooms in each area (a total of 8) and there will be a minigames in the beginning of most area. To be honest, i find the minigames to be annoying, especially the last one which take too much time to finish. You'll start with a stick that can be swing around around your enemies. If you find that the weapon is quite useless, you can pick up some from the room, if there's some laying around, that is. The same goes for potions and special weapon- you can pick them up from the ground although you can only carry 1 each. Actually, you can buy the potions before the game start; You can collect some gold on each area that you can spend to buy some items. I find that most of them are useless though. Although there are 4 playable characters, you can only play as one of 2 character for player 1 while the rest can only be played by player 2. There is no difference between the first and the second character though. The game control might be confusing at start although you might be get used to it later. You can't change the controls and the game only shows the most important control in the instruction (arrow button/wasd + c +v). The thing is, there are also other button that needs to be explained, such as escape button that can be used to pause the game. The game also has a weird control on the character selection; you have to press c to start the game, space to select the character (c doesn't work), and then you need to press c again to select the area. Lastly, the screen transition is super slow and it gets on my nerves when i want to quickly restart the game. Oh, and the game has another game, The Youthdrainers, in its game file. I didn't play it, but it seems like a horror game. Pros: - 8 areas - Checkpoints - Various weapon - Various special weapon + potions Cons: - Annoying minigames - Weird control - Not all of the controls are explained in the instruction - Slow screen transition
Conclusion
This is a rogue like game where you can finish each round quickly. The game also has checkpoint and some minigames.
Should you buy this game?
Yes. If you like to play rogue like game and want to play a short and quick game, buy this game on discount.
Análise.
喜加一,给徽章和表情一个好评啊哈哈,画风太可爱拉
This is a twin-stick style arcade shooter/beatemup/ripoff of The Binding of Isaac. Low effort twin-stick graphics coupled with tired gameplay results in a poor quality flop. The game is extremely buggy, and only supports keyboard and gamepad... but the keyboard bugs out and can crash the game on launch. It's impossible for me to recommend a game that doesn't work reliably with a keyboard and has such terrible crashiness.
还行吧。 Not Bad.
This game is very challenging at times but it also gives you the feel that you CAN beat it. There are so many variables in each level that in some instances, you may have a better chance at completing a level. In others, you may be set up for failure. There have been plenty of times where I shouted "Oh come on!" at my screen but it always felt so rewarding when I finally hit a save point. It's kind of Isaacy, shmupy, and derpy... which I love! I do recommend this to my friends who love a silly game.
Best 1€ ever spent! Should run for game of the year! of the century even! Plus sérieusement... les graphismes sont le point fort du jeu. C'est très punitif et pas pratique mais ça reste un jeu drôle.
