+ Actually quite fun to play.+ Quite realistic feeling when it comes to release angles and windresistance.- No online mode.- Abandoned by devs.- Putters gets extremely powerboosted from a little longer puttingdistances(goodluck not sending that sh*t to oblivion)- Controllers often losing grip of disc (results in A LOT higher score during tournaments (infuriating))- People tend to have their game crash or like what happens to me, discs bug and I can't pick up a disc for a new/continuous throw.-Really lacking in settings. If you love discgolf I would still recommend this but only if you buy it heavily discounted.
The best DG VR game I've played as far as physics / courses / disc choices go. It hasn't been updated in years it looks like but they are advertising it in the mobile app now so maybe they are looking for a push to bring development back? My only complaints are putter rolls, the seem to roll wayyyyy to easily, the speed seems to max out at 30mph no matter your throw speed beyond a certain point and obviously updates would be awesome ( daily challenges / multiplayer / more discs etc ) Besides that I have a blast.
Some technical stuff. Worked on WMR. Had trouble getting it started in VR and not just 2d on my monitor over wifi to quest 2 via oculus link, but making sure the runtime was set as "steam vr" not "OpenXR" in steam vr settings fixed it. As for the game I love it, I played the playtest before this, well made UI and HUD, there is a catch camera that lets you watch your throw from where it will land, I didn't realize how much I liked this until I played without it. The courses start simple and progress to challenge you and give you time to learn how to throw in game. You can change hand grips and unlock newer discs with different stats as you play, and keeps you coming back for more. 10/10 recommend if you play irl.
THIS IS SINGLEPLAYER ONLY! Multiplayer would make this game one of the best casual sports games in VR, but sadly not yet. It is a fun experience for people wanting to scratch that itch for disc golf in VR.
Hello, I have been fascinated with disc golf for a while now, and found Disc Golf Valley for mobile devices.. super! Of course when I learned that there were some VR options I obviously went looking.. I have now played 2 VR versions..Disc Golf Valley VR is by far the best experience in VR I have had in a while. This game has encouraged me to play for almost 50 VR hours now, and I have opened the A Tier Tournaments! It has further encouraged me to actually seek out Disc Golf in my remote area in Canada, and there was a course 15 minutes from me.. LOL needless to say I have a family membership waiting under the tree with a pro spec basket, discs, bags.. the whole sha-bang. I went all in to get my people involved as much as possible. I have yet to throw a real disc in real life, but I know I'm going to be good because of this, sometimes frustrating DVG VR game! I have my player numbers for the ODSA tournaments as well as my PDGA number now. :) Super Stoked! I played for a few hours on the HP Reverb WMR, but played almost 50 more on the Valve Index so far. They play slightly differently given different PC's and VR Systems, but both work extremely well. I have a few aces on each system!! :) I would LOVE to see online play added to this amazing experience! It's otherwise a great off season simulator-esk..game.. And a great port from the mobile version. *Mobile version is way easier to play IMHO. Minor Mentions: I have found a few bugs (1.0.13) in some of the OB's lines here or there, and some of the physics reactions on the ground or around hitting the basket could be a little tiny bit tighter; and the only other criticism would be the discs hit trees sometimes where there is an 'object zone' around some trees and objects that extend past the object and so you hit 'invisible' areas close to objects sometimes.. not very often.. all very minor, not enough to rage quite; but affects getting out of tight spots sometimes. The tracking is sometime almost too good, as in if your controller jiggles on release (more with Index full hand release style) you may get a disc calculation that doesn't relate as accurately and you get too much hyzer, nose pitch, MAX power or other wild swing scenarios.. but that help you become smoother I think. Super Duper Recommended especially if you are in to disc golf at all. I mean I like it so much I wrote this huge review. This is a very accurate representation of what I think throwing discs would feel like. I recently have been throwing an Ultimate frisbee and an AEROBIE Pro Disc as much as I can so the two (DVG VR and Real life) compare and translate very well. I know how to shape shots in both worlds..lol I tend to play a couple of tournaments a day in VR if I can. I'm Level 56 since starting September 2021 to December 2021 in VR. It really is great fun! I can't wait to go out for real very soon! Thanks, ~Darren
This game is fun, but please update to add multiplayer
I have been playing DGV on steam and mobile for years now, but wow, to be immersed in the "Valley" is something else! If your new to disc golf games, and thinking of snagging this one up, get it and stick with it, cause this "version" has a slow learning curve and my only negative thought about this game is the slow progression(as in it takes a long time to get discs in your bag that are Faster than 7 and earn coin to buy). But have no fear because there are some amazing people help the development and the players who play this game, alongside the community in the Discord server. I recommend you come join us in the VR Valley!
By far the best vr disc golf game, hands down. Everything just feels right, from driving backhand throws and forehand bombs to finesse shots around trees. Putting is also spot on. A bunch of bad reviews almost made me miss out on this great game because people are butt hurt with not having multiplayer and other updates like the mobile version, but these people forget that it is an EA game, stuff happens in life, indie developers have lives also and many titles become unfinished, that does not take away the amount of fun that can be had by this gem of a game in the state that it is in. Sure I've had some hiccups here and there but nothing that would make me give a negative review. By all means if you are a disc golf player IRL this is a must have, dont listen to the negative reviews, this is the best. If you dont like you can always refund!
Everyone who says it's bad it's only for 2 reasons: 1: The devs basically don't care about it anymore cause of the mobile version that they focus on. 2: It's really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hard, just got done playing it for like 5 hours. This ♥♥♥♥ is hard af when it gets the the difficult levels, you really gotta be on your ♥♥♥♥ when you're flicking or it's over for you. Honestly just crack a beer like I did and play around, it gets easier as you play. Everyone that doesn't recommend this game is mad that they can't even play in VR. Play it youself, it's pretty damn fun.
Fantastic execution of capturing a realistic translation of virtual reality. Only solo play however and apparently not a priority with devs. :(
