As an avid not terrible but not great disc golfer in real life (~920 rated), this game is great. It can definitely satisfy some of that disc golf urge, and considering you can play it when it's raining outside in real life, that's just amazing. Is it anything like actually playing a round? No, not really. It's it's own thing with disc golf on top. Notable things -has the jomez 'follow flight' on every throw and flight. It will show you how straight your pull through is! This alone is great. -flight speed seems to be maxed out at 30mph? may be a bug on the speedometer, but regardless basically anything above a 60% throw in IRL disc golf is max speed in this game, so it is very easy to be able to drive 500+ feet with the right disc. That makes sense, it's a video game! it's a lot of fun. It also means throwing anything less than 25 mph (whatever that means in this game because that seems way off) is kind of hard to do. Instead, choose slower discs. -at least for me, my irl 'flat release' backhand throw is somewhat hyzer in the game. I have to pull back a bit to what I would think is an anny release backhand throw for a flat throw in the game. It's not much, but coupled with the fact you are holding a weird controller instead of a disc it means in the end you aren't really doing the same exact motion as you do in real life. Is that good or bad? I don't know. However, the game at will show you how consistent you are very quickly, so it's good practice for that. And maybe my IRL shots are just bad? Well, you also have to release the trigger to release the disc, which is nothing like real life. That being said, it really needs to have some spruce'n up in areas. There are a few bugs to fix and quality of life improvements that are desperately needed, which I can only hope/assume are on the docket since this is still early access. PLEASE FIX: -can't pause or access the menu in the middle of a hole. You have to finish out to restart/retire etc. Need a way to restart the hole at anytime like on mobile. -the words "just tap it in" appear when parked under the basket, but with no way to actually tap it in. Should be a way to click "OK" and finish out hole without having to actually do it. -game fairly consistently loses detection of the trigger being held for a split second right after choosing a putter when putting. It means a lot of false, 'dropped' putts because i step forward while holding the trigger to line up the putt and the game just drops the disc and it counts as a stroke. You learn to wait a second after selecting the putter and it avoids this, but it's annoying. -occasionally drives will just hit an invisible wall directly in front of the release point of the disc, stopping after 1' or so. -occasionally perfectly fine full drives will instead just pop out at "20 mph" or so and be super wobbly and spinning like a tornado, and go only 100'.
doesn't get any support from the dev at all. best off just not getting this game for now. edit: 2+ years without a single update. game is dead in the water, such a shame. it had so much potential
I'd like to start off by saying that I absolutely love this game. It can feel so smooth at times and being able to try different lines and getting an ace in VR feels incredibly rewarding. It has the best mechanics of any disc golf VR game in my opinion and is just a few features away from being one of the best VR games out. It IS a good game for those who can play it. Unfortunately, it seems like this game has been seemingly abandoned by the developer. I understand that they are working with a small team and the mobile version is the main priority. I know VR is still sort of a niche market and after looking here and on the discord, I know there aren't that many concurrent players. These are all things I can accept and still be willing to support this game, but my biggest problem is the lack of communication from the developer. I believe the last response saying there were more updates coming was in July and there has been nothing since. I wish the dev would take 5 minutes to let us know if the game is dead or not. If you are thinking about buying this game, please hold off. Keep checking the discussion boards for updates. This game will be absolutely worth it if they have the resources to revive it.
HUGE HUGE potential. I am definitely loving this. My arm is sore af from playing. There are some egregious bugs- seems sometimes my lenses go out of sync or something - the whole world gets very unfocused and it renders the game unplayable. However- it seems restarting SteamVR resolves at least most of the time. I think there needs to be a method of calibration for the player as well, or the camber of the wrist. Also - tomahawks and thumbers should be incorporated. That all being said- the physics are pretty damn good, the feeling is very natural- the holes and courses are quite challenging. I absolutely enjoy this and if you like disc golfing, $20 is a deal. Seriously. I can't wait for the development of this game- multiplayer and workshop-developed content would give this game incredible dimensions. Edit: the double vision thing is getting to be an absolute detriment. It is more often than not. No other game does this. I use a OG Vive with Index controllers.
Updated Review – Buyer Beware I want to warn potential buyers about the current state and future of this game on Steam. The Steam version has effectively been abandoned. It remains buggy and unfinished, and active development and support have ceased while the developers moved on to a separate, platform-exclusive version of the game. If you’re buying this on Steam today, you should understand that you’re purchasing a version with no meaningful future updates or fixes. What makes this especially frustrating is that new paid content (such as map packs) is being sold on other platforms for content that already existed or was expected as part of the original experience. Steam players are left behind with an incomplete product and no upgrade path, cross-buy option, or resolution. This isn’t about buying the game twice on different systems — it’s about paying for a product that was never properly finished and then abandoned. If you’re okay with a buggy, unsupported experience that will never improve, proceed with caution. Otherwise, I’d strongly recommend skipping the Steam version entirely. DO NOT BUY! Devs have abandon the game the game and its in a poor state. DO NOT BUY! Note: The last update made by the developers was over 4 years ago. The information and timeline described by the developers here may no longer be up to date. ^ ABANDONED
If you have the means and love to disc golf you will love this worth every penny including the oculus quest 2
Pros: Easily the BEST VR disc golf game out there Consistent physics, both backhand and forehand Fun disc selection, well made courses Cons: Seems to have been abandoned No ability to see course layout Really the only thing bad about this game is that the work on it seems to have stopped. It has so much going for it and so much potential. Really hard to recommend a game that's in "early access" if it's not looking like it's ever getting out of early access.
Firstly, I'd like to say that this game has the best gameplay for a disc golf VR game, that I've played. The gameplay being so fun led me to trying to play this game many times, always leading to frustration. If you have played the mobile game, or are looking for a Disc Golf game, this is the one. BUT: I am unable to play this game due to the game-breaking bugs that I have experienced. Currently, when I launch the game it shuts down steam VR, which doesn't happen for any other games, so I can't even open the game. When I was able to open the game, nearly every time it loaded a new hole my game would go black and my audio would cut out for 10 seconds. Or it would crash my Vive Console completely, forcing me to reboot the game. I only rarely made it through 9 holes without the game crashing. I will try this game in a month or 2, maybe once it gets some more bug fix updates so that hopefully I can have some fun. The way it is now, I am done trying.
great game, but the game wants to end my pc, it runs harder and than any other game i own, which includes half life and waking dead. after a round or two the game is barely playable because it just gets wildly buggy for me. ive also set the in game setting to low which helped.
The game have a great physic. But the game is absolutely not finished and the project looks dead.
