Boring. Not worth the price. Just crouch stealth all the way.
Big changes compared to the first 4 games/season 1 of the Dark Pictures Anthology, some changes very good and others very bad. Good: removed the miserable heartbeat mechanic, increased player control over changing outcomes with a rewind-enabled mode. Bad: near complete removal of both the dark pictures that the anthology is named for and the curator who is the horror host of the anthology. It was very disappointing to lose those elements, especially the premonitions/dark pictures. I hope they're brought back for the next entry in the series. Without those elements, I'm not nearly as excited about the future of the series as I was before I played D8020. I guess I still recommend the game, but it's a less enthusiastic recommendation than it would be if the premonitions and curator were still major elements in the game like in previous games.
If you like the Dark Picture Anthology (DPA) games you will enjoy this one. I just finished it shortly before writing this review and I'm already planning on playing it again. I definitely think you should play it in survivor mode the first time you play it. I don't think the difficulty level matters much with these games but I did play it in normal, so if you aren't good at QTE's, play it on easy. My rating: Graphics/overall esthetics of the game: 9/10 looks great but is a bit dark, especially for recording Mechanics: 7/10, definitely need a "skip" button for the cut scenes if you use the rewind function. Also I think the rewind function is only good if you replay the game from start to finish. Storyline: 6.5, most of the story was a bit dull with a few jumpscares here/there to keep it somewhat interesting. But I think the ultimate twist in the story is what makes it most interesting and I appreciate that they didn't go with stereotypical tropes like they did in Man of Medan or Little Hope Overall gameplay: They added a few "puzzle" elements to the game but I would like to see more. I would like to have more player interactions with the game that isn't just picking from two choices. Replayability: 10/10, I will definitely replay it like I did for other DPA games as I want to see what happens if I make different choices and save people. *note* I killed everyone on my first playthrough :(
Top💗
also ich mag die dark picture spiele. würde es nicht für den vollpreis holen aber im angebot immer gern. die story macht spass aber ich hätte mir noch mehr entscheidungen und quick time events gewünscht.
I enjoyed this game, but it definitely doesn't hit the same as Until Dawn or The Quarry. I liked it for what it was and will play through it a few times to get the different endings. Gameplay: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLcelqKIhYMSsRAyfoRjnUjoNS32B9k8gd
It starts out oke, but it changes into one of the worst games in this genre. The new added stealth gameplay mechanic is overused, and after chapter 5 i really started to lose interest in the game.
this is a begrudging thumbs up as i want to support the series & hope the next entry in s2 is better but this game is not the best. i consider myself to be a lover of stealth gameplay but this was not very fun. it gets old quick & there were so many missed opportunities for meaningful fun QTE's and instead you spend most of your gameplay watching really long cut scenes & then learning an enemy's walk pattern so you can sneak around them to flip a switch, grab a journal & run away. i do like the DBH choice system where you can you go back & explore other paths. they have a perma death mode as well if you wanna play faithfully & then explore after which is what i did! the curator does make a brief appearance if you find all the hints/clues in the game. some choices seemed like they shouldn't matter & then all of a sudden decided the whole game. not being able to sneak around someone should not lock your character in death though.... that's stupid. however, it looks amazing, runs very smooth but is very anticlimactic. i will say it scared me a few times & the concept is scary. the twist was intriguing enough but the gameplay really suffered. i do think the next game will be better & can see the future of the series. im hoping this is their "man of medan" for the season & their next game will be a "house of ashes" type level :) BUY ON SALE ONLY
Fantastic Supermassive Games game. Thanks!
Gefühlt schleicht man ständig, was auf Dauer einfach ermüdet. Es gibt keine klare Kaufempfehlung, aber für Neugierige im Sale ist es auch kein totaler Fehlkauf.
