it has potential but it needs more time but that is what early access is for, more types of modules, more types of weapons, would be a must, its incredibly difficult to get a part to mirror itself on two different sides of the ship if its a part you placed before, so if you try to move something not new, its close to impossible to get it to mirror. there are no key bind changes. you have to hit f1 to learn anything, there is no tutorial really, instead you gotta hit f1 and try to absorb all the windows at once without being able to pause, many things need to be improved upon, but there truly is a hidden gem underneath, it looks like it could be a lot of fun, both as a roguelike, and with pvp when online features expand. this feels like an Actual Alpha early access, if thats up your boat, and you like space and designing ships, i recommend it, especially coming from an indie dev, if you are looking for polish, its going to take some time, but its worth checking out.
Ok so after 20 ish hrs I don't hate it. the 1st three times I played i got smoked in the 1st fight untill I grabbed the starting ship with missile batteries and it was extremely agitating. I'll list a few Pros and cons that i've encountered so far. Pro- hella customization when it comes to ship design Near limitless build potential if your willing to clip the parts to each other has a lot of room for weapons and unique damage mechanics Cons-building a custom ship can get tedious Cannons absolutely suck until you have a wall of them on your ship lacks the ability to assign diff targets to turrets Campaign "universe collapse" happens way to fast, I wanna keep fighting harder and harder swarms ship build limit feels low, i'm trying to build a dreadnought not a corvet, I wanna make a nightmare of a ship. Maybe add an unlimited mode in campaign so I can make truly massive ships while spending a few days of playtime tooling around. No missions to speak of, your only objective is to not die. It would be nice to see some friendly star-systems that offer new gear and possibly side missions. All in all, after finding a few builds that can win a 9v1 fight I really enjoy the game. They have a solid core of a game and once polished out, it'll be something to constantly come back to. If you can get it for a slight discount give it a try.
It seems very promising, but there was supposed to be and update that was coming. I was waiting for the update to come out before I started. I decided to refund due to no response from the developer. If your looking to build capital ships than this is a decent purchase on a sale. However, the combat was not what I was expecting. I may try again if I ever see an update but until than it is cautious recommendation. After the update was released I have re purchased the game but have not had time to try it out. I hope my funds will assist in you finishing the game. I am curious to see what comes next.
Incredible potential, but no updates in an entire year at the time of posting. If the devs come back and finish it, there could be something great here. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend it otherwise.
As of this writing, The game hasn't received an update in a year. Features are missing, like telling me whats missing from the ship to make it function not just a hey things are missing you should fix that. Game looks like it had potential once, but not now. If there is an update maybe come back and try again.
Really good so far. LOTS of potential to be a very fun and engaging build your own spaceship game with semi realism in there making massive ships with ease. though there are some clankie aspects like moving the camera around can be a bit of a chore when your trying to figure out the orientation perfectly. also small nit pick wish we could size the guns up a bit more and parts a bit more. the guns and things feel great and feel very good for photo shots as well as the screen shake getting close to the guns. if your looking at this game its good if you wait or buy it and support the dev hopefully they can stay on coarse for a great game Good luck Craft theory! community is also super supportive.
Not worth 15$. The module system seems pretty interesting. The building could use something like a checklist or metric to let you know if your ship is wildly unbalanced. The mirroring system took about 10 minutes for me to figure out and its very annoying. The devs need to make a system more akin to avorion or space engineers for ship building, with easy to understand metrics and mirroring tool. There are 3 kenetic weapons. there was a drop down for missiles and lasers and point defense. each having a similar number of options. really lacking any sort of strategy or build defining weapons. The game would be akin to a developer creating sexy modules in Avorion, and you only being able to build your ship with those modules. I can see why the game never took off, it needs another year or so to cook.
The game loop is there, and its well enough. The building system needs a LOT of work but has tons of tools to help. The process of making youre dreadnaught is generally frustrating and very very time consuming. Every battle you get points to add more stuff. This gets old fast since you constantly have to expand your ship, adding and adding and adding. They could use some better balance to slow down how often you have to mod it maybe not raise difficulty so quickly and lower the payouts could be a solution but also might make the game too slow. You sometimes have pieces that arn't attached and you wont really know it. Everything has a boundry box, arrows and colors its impossible to see what your even building after a while. Ive built a couple ships and spent an hour doing it to be missing something but never know what it is, or you might run out of credits. The whole process is just really abnoxious tbh. The ship might flicker about when its really big and modules become tedious to place and frame rates drop. Im going to put it down for now but i think they have something really good here and i do like what they have.
If you like building and tinkering with ship designs this is for you, yes it could do with more explaining how to build a ship but you learn quick enough. yes it can be buggy but it is to be expected and it is not game breaking, give it a try, and i can say it is enjoyable to build a ship from scratch. Hoping for more parts to increase the possible options.
