I was going to go the route of sometimes the best review you can leave is none at all but then found, after purchasing the season pass, there was another set of dungeons for leveling, something that can be super tedious in these games, for another $7. Luckily I got the pass on sale for $60 and that's pushing the boundaries of how much the game should cost. Take out Digimon and most of the positive reviews for this game vanish. Great story, poor execution. There are many times when playing you come to a part where you simply cannot understand what the hell they were thinking. Constant back tracks as you will travel a lot of "dungeons", hallways, multiple times. Don't like repetition? Sucks to be you because after finishing parts you will get to watch a short story about what you just did. Events also start to get super convoluted and simply do not make sense. The game itself if just a supped up Cyber Sleuth from the PS4 era. Dull designs, lame "dungeons", everything is about the same. Maybe a touch better. Just get it on sale, this is a glaring example that some games maybe worth $70 but NOT all.
No combate. Ele parece simples no começo. A história também me conquistou.
Was a really fun "creature collector" game. The core elements of grinding, collecting and perfecting your team is where it should be. The narrative itself is nothing to write home about but it does its job of getting you from one biom to the the next and is also not the reason why I played the game to begin with. Now the combat is obviosuly turnased but I feel like it needed a core element to spice up the decision making. They tried doing it by adding the timed mechanic on bonus hits but that in itself happens rarely ( at the beginnig of the game). Otherwise, if you have your typical dmg, debuff and heal digimon.. most fights will look the same at some point. Another annoying thing was the amount of loading/ transitional screens you had to endure, specifically talking about when you are in the last 3rd of the game and doing all the sidequests. Prety sure 15% of all the time needed to complete all of it was wasted on loading screens, because you had to enter/ reenter multiple locations in a zone over and over. All in all, if you do like these types of games, the negative aspects are not very consequential ( they have not been for me personally). I would say that grabing the game right uinder 40 bucks is a good deal and will give you somehting around ~ 70 hours of playtime, if you finish and engage with most of what the game offers.
The ending hit hard... First experience with digimon and it was so good ! Great gameplay with lot of freedom with teambuilding allowing to make some OP digimons, graphics and digimon's design are great and cool and of course the story was captivating, especially for a pokemon-like. It's so sad, after finishing the game, to realize that the first half of the game was a setup for tragedy. :'( Some cons to mention however : - It's awkward to be underleveled at some part of the main story quest especially after a few Digivolved and De-Digivolved of our main team because the digimon go back to level 1. So we ended being weaker at some really hard boss and we either have to grind or lower the difficulty to not being stuck. - Side quest are tedious and boring with a lot of back and forth but you have to do them if you want to increase your agent level and make your digimons stronger. It does not help that a lot of it appear near the end of the game which was a pain.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ As someone who's been playing Digimon games since Digimon World : Data Squad on the PS2, Digimon Story : Time Stranger feels like the game I've been waiting for all these years. The turn-based combat is fun and strategic, the Digivolution system offers plenty of freedom, and collecting Digimon is incredibly addictive. The story kept me engaged from beginning to end, while the improved visuals and soundtrack make every area enjoyable to explore. If you're a longtime Digimon fan or simply enjoy classic JRPGs with monster collecting, this game is absolutely worth playing. It successfully captures the nostalgia of Digimon while introducing modern improvements that make the experience even more enjoyable. Recommended! 10/10 https://youtu.be/tSsukGvtBrA?si=319p3_2AwYNO1ML_
The best Digimon game I have played hands down. I have played a few of them over the years from console or hand held games. This is definitely the most polished. I beat the game at release and had gotten all the achievements except the mega+ difficulty. Once all the dlc packs released I did a replay to 100% the game. As far as creature collector games go this game is likely a 7/10. There are some qol features that are only now getting added and small hiccups to the overall gameplay(cutscenes can be too long) that wouldn't exist in other modern games(having to get off your ride digimon to do a cutscene transfer to an area), but for a Digimon game? 10/10. I really hope they take what they learned from this game and the cyber sleuth series to push the IP and genre even further!
