I was half enjoying cutting rocks up with a laser, then my progress was halted by an insurmountable, game-breaking design flaw. There is no way to upgrade your robot to be able to mine radiated caverns without GOING BELOW THOSE CAVERNS. So yeah, don't buy this. Also, the dev changed names to distance themselves from their other games but left the bundle of those games on their store? I don't get it either. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_rVPXP4wzg
As Mr. Jacobs said before me, after only 20 ish levels you're unable to proceed because you're missing a mineral you need for a radiation resistance upgrade, which you need earlier than you can get said mineral. I really liked the idea of the game when I saw it a good week ago, so I bought this upon release and tried it today. The game is cute and feels okay to play, but there are just so many flaws and pointless mechanics that make it not worth playing. - For starters, it's poorly translated from whatever language (or the dev just really knows that little English). - When mining a cube, pieces break off of it with momentum, sometimes towards your robot which then hurt it - with no obvious mechanism to avoid this. - Upgrades have no description so you just have to guess what it does. - A very limited "mission inventory" of 2 different minerals per level (with the option to upgrade later on, where you can't get to because read first line of the review), although there are far more minerals in each cube. - A seemingly pointless mechanism to pick each chunk of minerals up with a mouse click, even when you "decided" on two minerals that you want to mine. Overall it seems to me the dev did not put any effort into optimizing this game at all, it feels roughly put together and released in hopes of making easy money off its customers. If they work on these obvious and probably easy to fix problems, this game might be worth its price. For now, don't buy.

just like the other guys mentioned you cant further progress than level ~ 20 atleast as far as i can tell.
You can complete the game, i.e. get to the end of the story but there is a broken achievement - to bypass radiation levels without the Robot Radiation upgrade
basically blindly obliterate the block (see Strafing Cubes below).
Dig to the Stars is ... a thing that exists. The game is very rough around the edges, sometimes annoyingly so, you'd think it is a first game. The game offers barely any story and almost no explanation on how anything works which applies to controls as well as upgrades. Controls would feel almost intuitive if the game was a mobile game. Basically, the game is a barely fleshed out skeleton of what could be a pleasant game - most upgrades seem useless and the main game loop, extracting materials, requires almost no finesse. The game has the simple premise of a broken-down rocket that needs to be repaired in order for the robot that the player controls to escape some unclear doom - maybe boredom. To that end, you gather an increasing variety of chemical elements to, no, not craft, but instead get upgrades ("get" as opposed to "buy"). To understand what you are buying you are given a symbol potentially expressing the effect of each upgrade. If you don't understand the symbol you have to hope you realise the corresponding change - mostly I didn't. Anyway, each upgrade comes with an "upgrade" button so it must be an upgrade. Some of the robot upgrades have sensible effects, others don't show distinguishable change. Any individual rocket upgrade is useless, but you need all of them to finish the game. Together with broken features (menu, level select) I'd say better avoid this game until you start seeing more positive reviews. It feels like every stage of development was approached with enthusiasm but soon became tiresome. You have a bit of 3D modeling but in the intro the robot turns without moving its wheels. You have a basic physics engine, but it allows and requires materials to be lost. All levels are basically the same slightly differently themed part of a cave. You have a bit of English localisation but it is pretty bad. The game has multiple dead-ends and a strange, apparently planned, level blocker. There are only a few things that feel like progress is being made, those are advancing through levels to get access to new elements, and the first scanner upgrade. The second scanner upgrade as well as additional material slots and stronger lasers came too late for me - I had already ground most of the needed materials by then. 0 Basic 3D models 0 Simple physics engine 0 Congratulations in Russian 0 Almost no story or motivation 0 Upgrading doesn't consume resources, works rather like faction favour - Unsatisfactory explanation of controls and incorrect explanation of ingame workings - No explanation of upgrades, only vague symbols - Clunky upgrade mechanics - "BACK" from upgrade screens leads to a dead menu, needs ALT+F4 - Resources disappear after a few seconds - necessary side effect of them becoming inaccessible off-screen or behind the robot; "early" level complete can lose resources - Rare random auto-collection may clog up your 2, in words "two", inventory slots - Broken achievement (fully upgraded bot) - Cannot return from a level
the last one, level 50, where upon destruction of the cube the robot gives the usual cheer, the clock stops but you are not automatically thrown to the upgrade screens and you cannot leave the level - ESC disabled, no other key doing anything
- Cannot see currently owned resources - Useless upgrades (mostly for the rocket) Basic Controls In the level selection screen, you can use the mousewheel to scroll the screen and select levels. Selecting a level works most consistently when scrolling up from below the level and hitting "CONTINUE" as soon as the level description appears. In the level selection screen pressing Space or Return inconsitently worked like clicking the "CONTINUE" button. Pressing the left mousebutton while in a level shoots the robot's laser. Basically, having the cursor low on the screens aims low and having it high on the screen aims high but also having the cursor left aims towards player (robot-left) and having it right aims away from the player (robot-right). There are portions of the screen space, close to and "behind" the robot, where that behaviour changes. Pressing the right mousebutton and dragging while in a level allows for rotating the cube. This is needed to completely eradicate a cube. Pressing Esc in a level lets you leave (with already collected resources). Strafing Cubes While in a level press and hold the left and right mousebutton, then consistently move the cursor from the left side of the screen to the right side and back, then repeat. This strafes a certain part of the cube. Adjusting height will allow you to hit all parts of a cube. Rotating the cube has the added (and physically unlikely) effect of aiming pieces rather more downwards. That way the robot is less often hurt by pieces and resources have a lower likelihood of leaving the screen. Strafing is the way to get through radiation levels - just avoid clicking the "CONTINUE" button (which is slightly larger than its visual representation). Start with the cursor low on the screen and slowly move up. You can vaguely see the cube through the warning. Pay attention to whether the laser goes through (not hitting anything) or not (hitting something). If needed get the battery upgrades. Then make your way to level 25 (has no radiation) to collect the resources for the radiation protection. Lore You can leave a level and will take all resources collected so far with you. "Overheating the cube" is not a thing. The game warns of that as it supposedly makes the robot be hit more but I have had a piece hit the robot right after activating the lowest-powered laser after a multi-second pause of firing it. Despite physically unlikely, a single piece of the cube can hurt the robot multiple times. As far as upgrades requirements are concerned, resource amounts are like badges, i.e. activating an upgrade doesn't use up resources. (Review continued in comments.) There is much to be done, before Dig to the Stars becomes a recommendable game. Don't buy it in its 2019 mid April state.
