Approachable dicebuilder with a Spire-like feel. While you do form a squad and some synergies, there are no real monster-catcher elements. The artwork is great and the mechanics are straightforward. I appreciate the Speed-up Animation toggle. Good balance of planning and glass-cannon punching. Unlikely to chase 100% achievements, but enjoyed my runs with each talisman.
Good card deck builder game. Starts a bit on the slower side in the first 1-2 hours but afterwards it shows it's fun & complexity.
Fun and interesting gameplay with lots of combinations with the different types of chimeras available. Also cool art and design. The different talismans, unlocks and difficulty progression makes you want to keep playing. Really enjoying it right now.

Fairly refined game, You may need to adapt your mindset into the game to play it; it's can distracted you for awhile. - it's slightly sad that your cardboard creatures do not have a chance to grow stronger in a meaning way. - No normal run that start with creature you like. - all creature can replace easily so attachment at all. - I wish there are catching mechanic. it's taking awhile for me to like the game enough to say something, all I can say is they game is ok.
It's a very well polished and great looking game! The Chimera designs are cool, the game mechanics are unique and fun, overall it's pretty good. The long term motivation to play this game is lacking since the runs do feel kinda similar, once you get the hang of the core gameplay gimmick. There are modifiers and more Chimeras to unlock the more you play, but it couldn't really hold my attention for long. But not every game needs to have huge replayability. I'd recommend playing through every faction at least once, because it is fun! If you go into the game with just the expectation to "beat the main story" you'll have a good time.
Dicefolk isn't a creature collector game, it's a cleverly designed engine builder. 7.5/10
A lot of the top reviews here are negative because the game isn't what they expect it to be, so lets set that straight: It's a straight up engine builder. You have 3 creatures(Chimeras). The starting ones suck, so you will want to change them out for better ones. Theres an option to in each of the first 3 Biomes via shrines. There are other ways to get chimeras, but primarily you will be going to a shrine up to 3 times per biome to get one that suits your playstyle/engine. At first, your engine is limited to the talisman you bring; it sets the archetype of tactics that are available to you. The dice, their faces, available chimeras are all set to your talisman, so some game knowledge definitely helps. Next, are items and dice-altering. Chimeras get much stronger with clever use of synergies. With eachothers abilities, certain die faces, or items. Manipulate your chimeras, dice and items to create the strongest engine you can. Bring some 1-shot items to help with the bosses. My first game, I didn't understand this and died quite quickly. I thought the game was a bit too difficult, but adjusted my expectations and tried again. I've just beat the game with all 4 starting talismans and the final boss on my first attempt since with each. There is some nice snowballing that can happen if you take some early risks; Spend money on dice-altering early and you might not be strong enough to beat the first boss, but if you do, your dice is permanently upgraded for the entire run. Try an elite battle (I mostly avoided all of these) for some nice rewards. Go for the first chimera that appears in the shrine and the other 2 shrines turn into chests, but you might be passing up on a better chimera. Do you spend money on an extra 1-shot dice to help you beat the boss? Or do you save up to get some more permanent upgrades or nice items? There are plenty of decisions to be made that all have weight and consequences. It still felt difficult, but very fair, once I understood the mechanics. So, if you like board games, engine builders, deck builders, that type of game, this is a decent one. Don't come at it expecting it to be super easy, require no learning curve, or be a creature collector game, because it isn't. Each win still felt hard earned. Difficult but rewarding. If you don't like the sound of that, don't get the game. If you do, I do recommend it.
Great RNG rougelike game
The game is simple, the sessions are short and the mechanics are engaging without being overly complicated. A splendid Roguelite.
