This game has women in it. Highly recommended. It also has nice graphics, runs well, and fun gameplay but no one really plays games for those things :)
An incoherent experience. Diari is a pixel-art gallery with random gameplay attached. It's really pretty to look at (and has good music), but it fails on all other fronts. It's hard for me to explain it in coherent sentences, so instead I'll just point out everything that happened during my (1 hour long) gameplay. 1. When you first boot up Diari, Steam installs Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable. Okay, sure... But it's a game from 2024. Why was it made with software released nineteen years ago? 2. Main menu boots up and blasts my ears with extremely loud music. I press Escape to open settings, which changes the game from fullscreen to windowed mode. Okay. I turn the volume to 2% in Windows's sound mixer. 3. I press Escape to make the game work in fullscreen again. The mouse doesn't work, but the arrows do, so I try navigating the menu. Three options: New Game, Load Game, Exit. Okay, I start the game with Space (Enter doesn't work). 4. After the introductory cutscene, the gameplay starts, or rather the dialogue between the player and the character you're controlling. You can make the text skip forward to completion, but only sometimes. After the text finishes, you have to press Space several times to make the game go further with dialogue, because it doesn't register your input. 5. You move with arrows and have to press Space on signs present throughout the game to understand any mechanics. After around five minutes of gameplay you're presented with three different jumps - Z to jump normally, X to jump faster and lower and C to jump forward ('dodge'). X used mid-air refreshes Z, C can be used only on ground (and makes you invulnerable to certain hazards), but it's told to you in a very weird way which I don't remember now. 6. You find a collectible. Press Shift to open the menu. Here you have gallery with three different types of collectibles of unknown purpose, and the fourth button to finally open Settings. I open Settings. You can't rebind controls, but you can change the volume... By moving down or up to the 'music' or 'other sounds' symbols, and then constantly pressing either left or right to minimally lower or rise the volume. Charades. 6.1. There are several instances where the game denotes its basic functions with pixelated charades. I don't even know what I'm clicking. 7. I finish a few platforming rooms and arrive at a puzzle. You have to jump on a button 6 times, so that the number '0' on the wall changes to, well, '6'. Okay. 8. I arrive at the second map and midway through fall through the floor to either some secret area or other stage. I stumble through it, gather a music collectible, jump forward through some next rooms, bugging out and appearing on their other sides when dying, until I accidentally stumble back to where I came from. 9. There are several millimeter-long spikes, positioned in random places or literally hidden behind other textures, that kill you on impact, making you wait through 3-seconds long fade-out to respawn. 10, Another puzzle. Throw seven black snacks until the counter on the wall displays '14' and then subtract 1 to make it '13'. Why? Why does this puzzle exist? 11. I continue until I find a random racing section (with a minecart in the end). Finish five somewhat complicated rooms under 180 seconds. Sure, okay. Music becomes really energetic here. 12. After some more stumbling I arrive at the boss. It throws you red projectiles that kill you and black snacks which you can throw back at it to damage it. Each time you die, you have to replay the dialogue (around one minute long) with the boss, which is unskippable (look at point 4.). After doing so for the fourth time, I turned off Diari to write this review. There are several other weird feelings I've got while playing, but I'm unsure how to vocalize them. Diari is a random mishmash of either bugged or incomprehensible game mechanics. Most positive reviews currently available come from developer's pre-existing fans and friends, who beta-tested the game. The only other negative review so far is written in Chinese, so I felt the need to warn other potential English-speaking buyers.
This game is a pretty fun take on the platformer/metroidvania genre. The movement is fast, with very little ending frames or endlag and quick turn speeds, the character moves quickly but smoothly. There are a few minor bugs and visual glitches but Diari stand out of the Indie game genre with its incredible art and sound design.
really fun game. i love the artstyle and the soundtrack is nice to listen to :)
Celeste who? In all seriousness it is with a heavy heart that I must inform you that the peak is terminal. :3
It's a very a simple, fun and charming game with beautiful pixel art. The world feels very alive, and the characters are quite memorable. Worth every penny :) It's also short, but the different endings and paths you can take give you a lot of replayability~ and you're going to spend a lot of time clearing rooms cause it can be quite challenging at times, good luck! ALSO, don't forget that you have a dodge, USE ITTTT!!!!!
DIARI SWEEP !!! I LOVE IT (i'll update this when i finish the video game)

My only gripes are that when you launch the game the controls are not shown, which caused me to be stuck for a few minutes until I figured out that space is the interact key, and that the dialogue boxes require you to wait a bit before closing.
It can be a little bit clunky sometimes, but it's super charming. 8/10
