Very nice game! Interesting idea to create a game that runs in the background on the desktop, gameplay is very satisfying and relaxing.

Really fun to pass the time. In the beginning it is a bit slow, but it's worth it. Highly Recommend for the price of a coffee.
Takes a bit to get used to. It's not Sim City. But it is fun. So 2 things... 1) it uses CPU but doesn't affect gaming 2) After exiting some games you have to load the desktop again. It does save your settings though. Watch the tutorial.
sadly i came back after buying it a few months ago and it still will not open, it says its open but nowhere to be found.
Sometimes, the smallest things can lead to the most profound changes in our lives. For me, it was discovering Desktop Mars on Steam—a game that, at first glance, seemed like a simple idle colony builder. Little did I know it would become a source of inspiration, perspective, and personal growth. When I first installed Desktop Mars, I was going through a rough patch. Stuck in a monotonous routine, I felt disconnected from creativity and ambition. Life felt mechanical, and I longed for something that could spark joy and reignite my drive. Enter Desktop Mars. The game itself is straightforward: you’re tasked with managing and growing a Mars colony. From balancing resources to ensuring the survival of your settlers, every decision you make impacts the growth of your colony. What struck me most was the game’s calming atmosphere—soft, ambient music paired with the serene visuals of Mars’ red terrain. It felt like stepping into a different world, one where I could build something meaningful at my own pace. What started as a casual game quickly turned into a nightly ritual. Each session became a metaphor for my own life. Watching my tiny colony grow reminded me that progress, no matter how slow, is still progress. Managing limited resources made me rethink how I allocate my time and energy in real life. And every setback—like a supply chain issue or a power failure—taught me the value of persistence and problem-solving. Desktop Mars also rekindled my love for space and science. I found myself diving into articles about Mars exploration, terraforming, and space technology. This newfound curiosity inspired me to join online communities where space enthusiasts discuss everything from NASA missions to speculative science fiction. I made friends, shared ideas, and even attended a local astronomy club meeting. The game didn’t just change how I spent my free time—it changed how I saw the world. It reminded me that challenges are opportunities in disguise, and that growth—whether in a virtual colony or in life—requires patience, vision, and the courage to try. Today, whenever I see the red planet in the night sky, I smile. To me, it’s no longer just a distant celestial body. It’s a symbol of resilience, creativity, and the limitless potential for growth. Desktop Mars may have started as a simple game on my desktop, but its impact is something I carry with me every day.
