Desktop GOLF

[h1]Silly, cute golfing fun![/h1] This is a golf-style game where your tiny player whacks a ball across a golf course built on top of one or more desks. The hazards can be your standard golf affair—rough, trees, water hazards, and sand traps—or more exotic things like pencil cases, erasers, mini cones, toy airplanes, and the like. The golf physics remind me of Neo Turf Masters most. They're highly simplified: mostly just angle, power, and a centerpoint to hit on the way back (bordered by flub-shots). There is no wind. While there are off-center hits, there is no slice or hook. Therefore, the shot complexity is reduced compared to some other games. As you play, you win points. Points can be used to buy new courses, or in a 'Gatcha' section to unlock random pens (which are the game's clubs). The different pens have different stats. Some are more powerful, while some are more forgiving by having a slower swing speed and/or larger sweet-spot. Points can also be won in a 'minigame' section where you shoot for a bullseye to win. The music, sound, and caddy voices are charming. [i]Desktop Golf[/i] certainly has style. It supports local-machine multiplayer. (Note that the game does [b]not[/b] support hot-seat fashion play: each player needs their own controller, and only one player can use the keyboard.) All in all, I find [i]Desktop Golf[/i] to be a nice, relaxing game to play with a friend while just hanging out and chatting.

This game has so much potential! However, it is in need of some fine-tuning and in its current state, it kind of misses the mark. Its fun nonetheless so I will keep the thumbs up. My biggest gripe: the complete absence of a save feature! I returned to the game only to find all of the clubs and courses that I had unlocked were locked up tight again, smh. Different "clubs" for different terrain, like in real golf, would be helpful too! The idea is great, I just wish they had put some more thought and care into this game before releasing it.
