Desktop Dungeons: Rewind bestows bites of tactical roguelike action, which will quickly fester into a deep, lingering, and strategic obsession. Bargain with gods, equip your spoon and pick your battles, before retreating into the healing darkness. But beware… there are still many monsters to face!

Worse in every single way compared to the original game. Why was this even made? Nobody asked for it.
I'm torn as I rarely post negative reviews. I played hundreds of hours on the previous iteration. I don't understand this release. The 3d is confusing, 8h in I still struggle to navigate the dungeon to this date, which wasn't even a thing in the previous release. The retro charming aesthetics is now a bland dated mobile one. It reminds me of The Super Meat Boy Forever runner situation.
Looks worse, more pozzed, and harder to control then the original Desktop Dungeons.
I was as dismissive as it gets towards Rewind back when it first appeared, but after giving it a fair shake I'm willing to admit that I was hasty with my judgement. I still believe there was no particular need to move from 2D to 3D, and the new camera angle felt deeply uncomfortable to me for the first hour or so, but ultimately these presentation changes are hardly a disaster (although I sure miss the old character portraits, those were a thing of beauty...), and what truly matters is that the core gameplay has been faithfully preserved. Now if you'll excuse me, I have more goats to send to their maker.
Positive Point, got it for free cuz I owned the OG. Thanks for the gift. I like the IDEA behind the set up. The town, different races, classes, dungeons etc. That's where the good stuff ends. Every dungeon is a puzzle you need to complete in a specific way. Including order in which you kill/debuff/buff/recycle/explore. It's just tedious. The "Puzzle" maps are simply for those who really enjoy negative room for error. You are a robot doing exactly what they want you to do isn't that fun. Because everything is so strict the random level design doesn't help. Often times preventing you from getting the spell that boosts your XP by Stoning other monsters so you dong't get high enough level before you run out of potions and can't fight the level boss. I haven't been able to have fun on any of the "normal" maps. Even with difficulty turned down. Which it CLAIMS is a 50% adjustment. It is not. It is less than 1/3 adjustment. (Reduces 9 hp monsters to 7 and their 3 dmg to 2... ). It is surprising how little this actually does to change game play. Mostly noticeable the first 2 levels your hero has. Beyond that I can't tell the difference. I'd was hoping for the crawl vibe of Jupiter Hell with more brain stuff to it. No fun gear, no fun spells, no actual levels that do anything but give more hp. You are one big stat stick in this game. Your choices just change which stats.
TLDR; A fun game ruined by having to calculate every single action if you want to have a hope of clearing a level and earning any real rewards. I'd like to love it, however it just takes too much thought process to enjoy it much. Even on the normal difficulty levels you need to be extremely careful doing anything as almost everything you do either adds or subtracts resources which you need around 90% or more of used appropriately to be able to pass the level. On NORMAL. You can litterally waste hours of work due to one misclick or improper action. Add to this that the maps are randomised so you might find that one spell you really need sitting next to you or never find it at all. The game forces you to target enemies above your level just to get enough xp to be possible to win. You need to calculate almost everything, and the meta progression doesn't do a lot to make the game easier for you. This is not an RPG, this is just a puzzle game in disguise.
System of the game is build on replay the same dungeons from beginning with small adds , very repetitive. For example you win the dungeon and you get new class like Elf race , and the game drive you to play same dungeons with that new add from the very beginning. You can not keep drops , you can not increase stats and keep. Game is really "Rewind". I do not like at all. I refund the game.
Worse in every way, what a mess.
It's dangerous to go alone. Take this
