To play the Descent: Legends of the Dark board game, one player must download the free Descent: Legends of the Dark app on a compatible device. This companion app determines the setup of each quest, tracks your party’s inventory, skills, progress, and resolves combat while telling a narrative story.
Revenue comes from in-game items and microtransactions, which our price-based model doesn't estimate. Copies below reflect the player base, not paid sales.

"Descent: Legends of the Dark" isn't a game. Real games require "gameplay", in the form of game loops and gamelike interaction, which is absent here. Rather than functioning as a game, "Descent: Legends of the Dark" is just a software application that you need to download to use to track your progress in a board game. Now, it should go without saying, but if you design a board game so badly that you can't play it without a mobile app, you have failed at the basic premise of designing a board game. You can't "play" this without the boardgame, it is not a game itself, just a tracking app. It's also irrelevant to discuss whether Descent is a decent board game or not, because this is not that game. To clarify why this isn't a game in more precise terms, a "game loop" is the core cycle of interaction and feedback between a player and the game itself, and this garbage doesn't have one. An obvious example of a game loop would be in games like Forza, where you drive a car in a circle. If you're faster and more skillful than the other drivers, you get rewarded for first place, and you repeat that test of your skill again with each race. Even open world/sandbox games like Minecraft feature a core game loop where you search for materials, use them to construct something, which rewards you in terms of increasing your progression and allowing you to repeat the next loop to get more and better materials. Those are game loops. There's no loop here, no true interactive game-like feedback. It simply is not a game, it cannot be "played". This was incorrectly dumped into the "Games" section instead of the "Software" section. We can just guess this is because the developer has no idea what they are doing and just tried to shove their app down gamers throats without considering doing the right thing... once more a developer putting his own needs before that of gamers. The correct process for publishing non-game software is found here: Steam Developer Help With Software Publishing Because the developer didn't bother doing the right thing, we now have a non-game software app in entirely the wrong place. When developers publish things that obviously are not games as if they are games, it pollutes the marketplace and makes it harder to find real, genuinely made games from game developers who did the right thing. This kind of store pollution makes it harder for gamers to find those genuinely games. It's bad for everyone. Without a game loop or interactive feedback, this is just junkware in the wrong section. It's a software app, not a game, and I won't recommend it as a game to gamers.

Apparently this app does not store data in the Steam cloud. I updated to Windows 11 today and now my saved games are gone.
Игра обалденная, но нет облачных сохранений. Сдох ноут - потеряла все сейвы
Great boardgame
Well made addition to the board game, board game difficulty and mechanics aside this is a really good companion and adds a lot of fun to the board experience
this is just an app for a board game but it is very well put together and runs the game very well
