Decent...but too slow to level up, too slow to get Gold, too slow (as in your party is too weak) once you get to level 3. Its jsut a pain and slow slog thats no fun tbh. This game may have had a promise to be good once upon a time but nope, its just slow and painful in its release. Having said that, its alright and possibly might appeal to some other peeps.
For $4.79 on sale? I had to pick this up as it's probably the closest I'll ever get to playing the old, "Mordor: The Depths of Dejenol". The UI isn't very intuitive and takes a little getting used to and I wished it were perhaps a little more rogue-like than it currently is. I’m still on my first play-through with my first four party members and only one of them died because I thought I could finish off the monster I was fighting before drinking a healing potion. Bringing him back was surprisingly cheap. Combat is extremely simple and bare-bones basic and mainly involves pressing the word, “fight” over and over until the enemy is dead. I do wish the game would punish me a bit more. Maybe add a temple where your party can pay for healing instead of just going to town and automatically healing for free. Also too many different windows/tabs that can only be opened one at a time when you could have multiple tabs opened at once. Example: Open store window. You have a Buy tab and Sell tab. Buy tab brings up items to buy from the shop, and Sell tab brings up items you can sell from your inventory. You can’t have your inventory open at the same time. I also miss the days where you had a gridbased inventory instead of a long line of text you have to scroll through. Still, the game isn’t terrible. It just feels unpolished. It's a fun casual little time waster for people who want to take a quick break for a few minutes. And while it’s on sale? It’s Practically free.
This is a simple dungeon crawler. However, don't let that deter you. It has this quaint style that gives it that old school play that you would have had on the 8 bit PCs of the 80's. The leveling mechanic is a nice twist where all the members of your party are just basic nomads. Where you put your skill points that you earn during leveling up determines each characters class. Considering that it appears you could maybe take a character in different directions later, it adds some flexibility. I personally find this as one of those titles in my collection that I can play in spurts. Each spurt feels rewarding, and doesn't feel like I am forced to continue until the level says I can leave. My ONE critique would having the overall images and UI fill out the screen more. Being that this is a solo developed title, I will not be disappointed that it isn't implemented. As for the AI content. Meh. At the prices it is, I don't care.
Very reminiscent of Mordor: Depths of Dejenol!
This game is pretty good, if your into older style games in the realm of NetHack. If that isn't a style you enjoy, this likely won't be what your looking for. The pacing is decent enough to allow casual play as well as constant play. If the dungeons are cleared out you can use a re spawn option in the city to fill it back up, or just wait a bit of time and come back. Also the price is pretty decent for a small game like this, there is a good amount of class and race options to work with, to allow you to build what you prefer as a party. There is a mobile version as well, that you can transfer your save files between the PC and itself, so you can play your party on the go as well as home and not loose progress. The Discord channel is pretty lively with other users as well. The Dev is pretty active in there commenting and posting updates and information on various questions people have. As well as good bug reporting and solving. Overall if you enjoy older style low graphic usage games, that give the feel of a classic dungeon crawl, then this would be a good game for you to try.
very fun, however you can get the mobile game for free. you get more bonuses watching adds then the steam game that you actually pay for. fun but could be better.
Fun game for the price! Love the old school dnd style. -Tip if you think the games is too slow, respawn the dungeon enemies via the bestiary.
Simple graphics but good gameplay
