Demonizer

I love shmups, going for 1ccs etc. This game... I'll list the good and the bad. Good: + Music is pretty good, fun to listen to + Monster girl art is good + Responsiveness is good + 3 bombs do an "autobomb" and take all your bombs when you're hit + Good pacing on the extends and I like the hidden extend + Homing shot feels good + Bombs do lotsa damage Bad: - Poor visibility in particular w/the red flame arrow things, exploding zombie things and boss adds. Hard to see the bullets on the backgrounds. On top of that every "horse race" section is horrendous. Almost impossible to see anything. - You lose all your power when you die, terrible. So you can no longer homing shot which compounds on the following. - "cover" your enemies become invincible and invisible. There's bosses that just pop out for a second with SUPER fast GIGANTIC arrows you last second dodge and you can only shoot them for half a second. - Too many adds on bosses, like another reviewer said this just makes everything feel random and bad. - Bosses are slogs in particular if you aren't at full power with autoshot. - Bosses are just too small - No steam achievements - Last boss and final boss are absolutely horrible. Not fun at all. - Non monster girl art is bland. - Arrow projectiles enemies shoot are too damn big regardless for how fast they move I have 1cc'd much harder games than this. But this game isn't fun enough to justify the struggle. If I feel that way about a shmup, it's not a good game to me. There's WAY too much anti-fun in this game that goes beyond difficulty and into tedium. I would give it a 4/10.

You can get many shmups on Steam, you won't regret getting this one in particular. Unlike other shmup releases which are basically "launch and forget", Demonizer got a bunch of free content updates and is still being worked on even though it was a complete game on launch. Just do yourself a favor and don't sleep on this if you have any interest in old school shmups whether you're a newbie or an expert.

super fun game! i really liked the story too gameplay feels awesome and the presentation is very unique, i really wanna see more games like this, would get a sequel in the blink of an eye!

Super fun shmup with unique art, world-building, and game design that deserves to be played by more people. Especially worth checking out if you enjoy the Touhou series for its story/lore/girls, or if you'd like a fresh take on old school classics from CAVE and Raizing like Ketsui and Battle Garegga.
