Do you need to play Demon Turf before playing Demon Tides?
You can hop right into Demon Tides without ever having played Demon Turf before! There’s plenty of easter eggs for existing fans, but we’ve designed the narrative for new players to jump right in!
What does “Expressive” platforming mean, exactly?
Simply put, it’s a platformer where every solution is the right one! We want you to express yourself through the game’s movement, and to do that we’ve created a highly customisable move-set with nearly unlimited combinational depth. The further you get into the game, and the more comfortable you get with the movement, the more unique your gameplay will become!
What’s Fabraz done before Demon Tides?
We’re most well known for the 3D Platformer Demon Turf and 2D Platformer Slime-san! But we’re also behind lesser known titles such as Cannon Crasha, Planet Diver and even published Skellboy and SpiritSphere DX!
Wait, are you also behind Bubsy 4D?
We sure are, wild huh? We've teamed up with Atari to finally give that bobcat the love he always deserved!

Once again, Fabraz knocks it out of the park. Just an absolute master class of 3D platforming mechanics, wrapped up in a heartfelt story about found family. The open world is well done, packed with levels that challenge the player, as well as little points that provide lore and story to those who are interested in it. The individual levels pack a solid punch, all with a variety of platforming puzzles to solve, using all the tools in your platforming toolkit. The movement feels fluid, responsive, and weighty in a way that few other games in the genre do, with each failure or success truly feeling like the player's fault, rather than fighting in any way against the controls. All of this is aided even more by the flexibility of the talisman system, which lets players modify their moves in ways that suit them, or ignore the system to complete every challenge in the game without any 'aids.' The boss fights are also largely incredibly well designed, with one(the second major boss) being a little obscure on how to damage it, but otherwise the actual mechanics of ALL of the boss fights are fantastic, once again, some of the best in the genre. If you're a fan of 3D platformers, Demon Tides is a definite must play, just give Demon Turf a play first!

This might be my new favorite 3D platformer. I love collecting stuff, I love the characters of this game, I just about enjoyed every challenge. The music in this game is fantastic! The only extreme difficulties I had were in the tail-end of this game trying to find every last island without grafitti mode enabled and 1 or 2 islands at the very end of the game. I decided to list my specs here, I DID experience a few black pixel issues on the water but I put my settings to high and the water to medium. The game gives you access to all your movement abilities at the start and it was a little daunting at first but after about 4 hours it became second nature. I LOVE the customization for our protaganist in both talismans (perks) and cosmetics (which are REALLY cheap with your Eyetem collectibles). I only wish the toggle to switch builds gave us more than JUST 2. If you're hungry for a 3D platformer I'd highly suggest it.
Demon Tides is a solid game with fluid movement which is all I can ask of a platformer. The game has lots of free customization which is neat and it respects your time by allowing you to place checkpoints nearly anywhere you want. Just try the demo to see if you like the schmovement, but aside from that, here are my minor complaints. There's some combat, but it's kind of meh and at times a little annoying. However, it's barely part of the game so it's not too bad. Story is whatever, but the characters are charming enough to make it entertaining. The music is inoffensive: nothing amazing, but still catchy at times. The further I get into the game, the more the bangers pop up, so maybe I'll change my mind by the end. The UI could use a bit of work: - the gear menu is tied to the map button which makes it annoying if you constantly check the map but also want to keep trying new perks - The only way to navigate the menus is with the joystick, which is a minor thing. I'm just used to using the d-pad. Overall, a good game with only minor complaints from me, so if you like platformers, go ahead and check this game out!
This game has some problems. Sometimes you have to hit floating targets in the air without proper depth perception, sometimes you get stuck on tiny ledges, sometimes you might get stuck in falling animation because of a small gap in the ground. But despite the flaws, I had fun playing the game.
TL;DR: An inspired collectahon platformer. This entry is an improvement over it's predecessor in every single way, though while navigating the harder areas I find myself more focused on how loose the controls can be at times.
Demon Tides is a massive step up from it's predecessor Demon Turf. From single level format to open world challanges which you can tackle however you want! Not just that but with the charms, the game encourages you, the player, to modify your moveset in large to minor ways. At the start you only get 1 charm slot so it does start slow with experimenting but it's also fantastic for getting aquianted with what moveset you're presented with first before getting to really mess with it! I loved this game from start to 100% completion. I've not had a game up until now where I was pulling off spicy mid jump swapping charm setups and hotswapping them like a nutjob just to see how far I could push the movement. The addition of "super" forms of the transformations were really refreshing the few times they would show up and never overstayed their welcome. I also apprecaite getitng to unlock them later on for even futher movement tech swap ups! This game is an EASY recommendation from me to anyone who loves 3D platform collectathons with that variety spice Fabraz keeps bringing to the table!
Demon Tides is an expressive 3D platformer where skill expression is the primary focus. Bite sized levels and optional talismans that modify one's moveset further encourage that skill expression and experimentation. The design around the base moveset is well done, allowing one multiple options to complete some jumps as well as momentum based platforming. I had a lot of fun going to each level and seeing how fast I can complete it by using all aspects of my moveset and talismans. Other parts of the package don't quite hit the same highs as moveset design such as the story, writing, and bosses. The story and writing is serviceable, but it does not get in the way too often. If anything it makes me want to go back and play the first entry as the story there seems more interesting from a scenario perspective. There also is a dip in quality once you hit the 3rd area. Some mechanics introduced there feel like they need a bit more polish and a subset of the levels do not have music, which is a bummer. If skill expression and fast movement is appealing to you in a 3D platformer, then this is a must buy. The platforming is so good and the runtime is so short that it is easy to ignore the average or negative aspects.
Coming from the previous game, Demon Turf, I was very impressed at how much of an improvement Demon Tides is over it's predecessor. The movement is stronger, the abilities are more plentiful, the levels are more interesting, the music is snazzier (imo), the combat isn't horrible anymore. The new 3D models all look great and the open world is fun to explore. Love all the new drip and hairstyles for Beebz. I remember with Demon Turf that I was sort of forcing myself to finish the game and was relieved when I was finally done. However with this game I had absolutely no problem getting 100% completion as well as all the achievements and was left wanting more once the game was over. I'd love to see more challenges, costumes, or any sort of content in potential future updates because I'll gladly come back for any of that.
oh yeh, this is pretty good. amazing sequel to Demon Turf, in an interesting new direction. This reminded me a lot of Bowser Fury, and this this is also a more dynamic take on the adventures of Beebz. And the 3D engine is gorgeous! Also, if you have not played it yet, the original Demon Turf is still a fantastic time!
I've just finished the game and gotten all the achievements. It was honestly great overall, the movement, the exploration, the story, the music. At no point did I feel like it was frustrating for the sake of being frustrating, and it didn't feel grindy, I genuinely enjoyed getting everything. Some of the mechanics were a bit finicky (mainly the cannons in the third region), but the tons of playstyle customization via enhancing your powers fixed all the issues I've had. The boss fights also benefited from a more customized "build", but it's absolutely not necessary (so you don't have to worry about constantly having to switch); for like 95% of the game I actually stuck to the same set of talismans. Genuinely a great game, I'd recommend it for anyone who likes this kind of 3D platformer.
