Do you need to play Demon Turf before playing Demon Tides?
You can hop right into Demon Tides without ever having played Demon Turf before! There’s plenty of easter eggs for existing fans, but we’ve designed the narrative for new players to jump right in!
What does “Expressive” platforming mean, exactly?
Simply put, it’s a platformer where every solution is the right one! We want you to express yourself through the game’s movement, and to do that we’ve created a highly customisable move-set with nearly unlimited combinational depth. The further you get into the game, and the more comfortable you get with the movement, the more unique your gameplay will become!
What’s Fabraz done before Demon Tides?
We’re most well known for the 3D Platformer Demon Turf and 2D Platformer Slime-san! But we’re also behind lesser known titles such as Cannon Crasha, Planet Diver and even published Skellboy and SpiritSphere DX!
Wait, are you also behind Bubsy 4D?
We sure are, wild huh? We've teamed up with Atari to finally give that bobcat the love he always deserved!

One of the more varied 3d platformers available on Steam. If you're looking for something with a high level of player expression, you should play this and will likely enjoy it. The graffiti system is pretty nice for finding player-made hints for items, and the clothing options you unlock throughout the game are fun to play with. The high number of talismans are nice for adding some extra oomph to your different forms and can really change how you approach challenges. Cons: - The default movement speed just feels way too slow. Kinda always feels like you're just floating along at a snail's pace. - The animations are honestly my least favorite thing about this game. I actively had to resist my urge not to buy the game because I noticed it in the trailer. I eventually decided to buy it anyway, and my opinion on the platforming animations has just soured more. Everything feels floaty and weightless but with no physicality to the main characters poses or anything. I'd say the turn jump is the most obvious example. This would be my biggest piece of feedback to the developers -- most of the human form animations have no sense of gravity and it just feels bizarre. I feel like the flowy dress and hair don't help this either. It's like she's always leaning to one side. - The bosses and combat are pretty boring and I actively avoided them in lieu of just doing more platforming. - The game is way easier than it should be, probably. If Derelict Star is a 9, Super Meat Boy is a 8, and The Big Catch: Tacklebox is a 6, this is probably a 3. If there are 100 ways to handle a gap, that means you can choose how you want to do it, sure, but it also means it's probably pretty damn easy to get across. Overall, would recommend if you're a fan of platformers that give tons of moves to learn. It's got an identity all its own, and a big world with lots of different places to conquer. Not without faults, but certainly worth playing.

A very fun 3d platformer collectathon, with just a few rough spots. Overall i think this is an excellent 3d platformer, it controls even better than the legendary jump man himself in my opinion, but it misses the mark just a bit in terms of level design (atleast for me anyways). this game uses the Mario Galaxy style of "Floating Level Design" as apposed to Sunshine's or Odyssey's more multi faceted environmental/world level design that i prefer, coupled with the fact that levels are a bit longer and have scattered collectibles. so it feels a bit more like an awkward middle ground between a quick one off obstacle course and an indepth "world" you get to explore and play in. this is more of a personal gripe than a true complaint (and there are a few levels that gave you more space to play in), but its something i felt the whole time playing it. this complaint of mine is relevant however to probably the only real issue with the game; the "open world" in this game is really bad. it's like wind waker but somehow much less satisfying and less whimsical. i dont really think having an empty open ocean adds anything to the game, it just pads out play time and makes some smaller levels easy to miss (i was stuck for a bit right before 100% because i just somehow missed some tiny little islands). my only other real complaint is that the writing is a little all over the place, the story tries to be both happy go lucky, but also dark sometimes and it can give you whiplash when it switches between them. also the characters largely dont swear but one character swears like a sailor, which i dont mind personally, but again whiplash. overall i do think the story is fine and is just more from the previous game. one small nitpick i'll add is that there is very minimal character voices, but they are there which just makes the overall silence from dialog a little extra deafening because you'll go for a few minutes of just silent text, just a few more voice lines for the dialog would have helped alot. besides a cople of issues and gripes i enjoyed this game and definitely recommend it to any 3d platformer fans
this is an underspoken about game, its soo good <3
I consider myself a fanatic of 3D platformers and yet Demon Tides exceeded my expectations. It has everything I could want in a game like that, with its beautiful, colorful world, character and level design, movement mechanics and even the emotional underlying story. I usually don't bother with completionist runs if I find challenges too difficult, but DT has such satisyfing and accessible quests that I couldn't help myself but to aim for 100% of everything, even though I'm not a very skilled gamer. Recommend to everyone and their mom.
Fun game with tight controls and a great sound track.
I just want to start off by saying this is probably gonna be my game of the year. Demon Tides 2 reminded me of why I love platformer adventure games. A lot of this wouldn't work without the incredible game feel in the platforming, or the awesome art direction that resonates with me. I hope the team feels the appreciation for what they've made. It also feels meaty, and I rest easy knowing I could return at any point to do a randomized run or something. My only really critique is that some story bits at the very tail end would've benefitted from an extra cutscene or two. Anyway, I love video games.
I loved the original. This one is slow, empty, ugly, not fun, just a huge let down. The open world is empty sad and sucks. The dialogue is horribly cringe. Beebz looks super off. I hate everything about this.
This game rules. It needs more love
The movement is really good and singlehandedly carries this game. There's so many different options and I love how the game encourages you to mix and match them to cross large gaps, especially with all of the talismans. Levels are pretty open, so for the most part, you can skip entire segments with enough creativity and precision, and I'm pretty sure that was Fabraz's intention. That being said, I did have a lot of problems. For one, I encountered a ton of bugs: models becoming low-poly when I approach them, grass and leaves tanking the performance (I had to turn it off during Red Forest), and at one point I just fell through the floor and out of the world. Secondly, I found the animations during cutscenes rather stiff, as they made a lot of the more intense/serious scenes fall flat. Lastly, I found the end of the game to be rather unsatisfying (spoilers, obviously).
The game shows how Ragnar left his kingdom in ruins, filling the ocean with crystal goop, chains, and war ships, and yet this is never resolved. After Ragnar is defeated, we get still images and some text explaining the aftermath, but we never see any of it for ourselves; there is no postgame. Now, having a postgame isn't itself a bad thing, but when the game has us helping out these people who all have their own struggles, it's disappointing that we never get to see any of that resolved (especially places like Dunkelwald and the area that's frozen in time). Even if the only postgame was the reef borders between the three regions being cleared and maybe a few npc dialogue changes, I would be satisfied, but instead it just kinda ends.
As a whole, Demon Tides has a lot of weak points, but the core platforming is incredible and left me wanting more. The game is a big step up from Demon Turf, and it was a blast to go for 100%.
Feels like a mix of Sonic Adventure and Mario Sunshine while still being its own thing. Character models are somewhat unapealling but that is a personal thing. Regardless of that there is a whole lot of customization options and upgrades, both functional and visual. Transforming and travel feels smooth and fluid, as does platforming and combat.
