Reviews
I'm happy to recommend Democracy 4, but not at full price; await a sale. It provides a range of issues, policies and tuning knobs to create a political and social environment that you'd like, but the consequences and international ramifications of that are severely lacking. For me to recommend this game at full price, I would want to see international scoreboards for things like HDI, GDP, Human Rights. I want to see my country's rise in the world's order. At the moment, this is entirely missing. On a national level, oppositional parties lack any simulation. They do not counter-propose policies, try and sway the public, or campaign in any way. As such, you steamroll over the opposition extremely quickly. I would love to see debates where you can choose responses to criticisms, speeches given by opposition leaders, international interference and commentary and so on. At the moment, nothing really stands in the way of what you want to do. Overall, I enjoyed crafting a society that represented my ideals, but felt very empty at the end of it as there are no battles or international scoresheets to motivate and chart your rise.
