Democracy 4 lets you take the role of President / Prime minister, govern the country (choosing its policies, laws and other actions), and both transform the country as you see fit, while trying to retain enough popularity to get re-elected...

Very simplistic and easy game. Can't be truly named a simulation. And want matters the most it gets boring very quickly.
It's very basic, tends to get boring after one playthrough, it needs more mechanics to play through, more detailed foreign policy and relations with nations, involving institutions and foreign bodies that countries are apart of. Events showing the results of your progress from the policies you've chosen.

It just feels empty and meaningless. Mechanics are out there but they don't really feel like they have any actual effects. Overall feels very boring after something like 2 hours max, and I tell you this a sim. game lover. 5/10
这次比上一代复杂了这么多,但反馈感却大幅下降,上一代选项虽然少,但真的能让我感觉我的某些决定是有意义的。提高复杂性的本质是提高可玩性,不是让你提高用户的疲劳感。
Very woke. Like, you get massive debuff from (!)parents and (!)youth if you don't allow them gender change and many similar lunacy that doesn't make any sense. The release date shows it's from that era, and the developer likely at up all the political propaganda from that age, which likely resulted in this mess. Other than that the game has good additions compared to democracy 3. It does have extra bias in other random events too. For example; some dude flees his country, and illegally comes to urs and continues to be a criminal. If he were to sent back he would be tortured, so you either keep him or kick him out. If you kick him out it makes only patriots happy, but 2 groups and your compassion level drops. Like hello. It's a criminal. You can't take a blame for something that you didn't do. Some other random events bs: - single ppl want to adopt kids. You can support it or not. Not allowing will result in 3 groups being sad - with parents. Like hello. I just denied single ppl from being parents. How can they be sad about it? Or the actual parents are sad when some random single ppl can't adopt? Doesn't make sense - gender neutral bathrooms. Again 3 group gets sad if you don't allow it. Parents again; among them. Btw, I am a parent, so I think I know what I'm talking about. The funny thing is; even after rejecting all these nonsense and revoking some gay rights - like marriage, which is a religious concept (and between a man and a woman as stated in their holy book) adopted by the states(which also angers parents and youth) - the game still puts you deep in the liberal part of the political spectrum.

If you like fiddling around with sliders, then this is the game for you. A gross oversimplification of how governments and nations actually work - treat this game as a political parody, not a simulator.
Scenarios are not very realistic, quick google of various policies and debt etc. shows scenarios are horrendously wrong. Most policies seem to demand a transition towards some weird fantasy of an environmental utopia with low taxes. GDP hits a graph cap and can't go higher? Loads of common policies like Rail or Energy nationalisation in the UK is considered unpopular. What?! This is worse than Democracy 3
When I get mad at politics in the real world I play this game and fix my country's idiotic problems This game is not recommended for those of you who don't like looking at financial data or spreadsheets
