Quite fun. The faction unlocks are a bit grindy.

Great variety of cards that made every match feel different. I am enjoying my time with it!
Tower Defense: check Deck Builder: check Roguelike: check Really fun and creative combo of ideas. Fun while also being satisfying. 9 out of 10.
I really enjoy tower defense games that continued runs help unlock things. The skill tree is large enough and adds a little bit of an advantage for each skill unlocked which keeps you wanting to continue playing and collecting shards. Had a lot of fun playing this and hoping for some sort of DLC or expansion soon to continue playing!
This game is so damn sick !
I've only scratched the surface and I can tell this game is going to take a lot of my time trying to figure out the best types of deck combos and house builds. Think of it as a hybrid between Slay the Spire and Kingdom Rush (or Bloons TD). All 3 of those games are great in their own sphere, but combined....legendary. Check out this incredible title! 10/10
Deck vs Doom is a tower defense roguelite deckbuilder where your cards place towers and traps, and cast spells to eliminate waves of monsters, built by a solo developer. Both the tower defense and the deckbuilding side are well constructed, and the game is very accessible. Cards have 4 upgrade levels, and there are six types of damage (frost slows, poison and fire do damage over time, lightning chains, physical does more critical damage, and arcane is boosted by your mana). Towers and traps often have additional powers, and there’s a variety of spells too: in addition to various flavors of damage, there is deck cycling, drawing, card creation, curse cleansing, permanent buffs to other cards or your factional special power, and cards that give you resources to shop with later. There are also negative curse cards that you can take for other benefits or that can be foisted on you. During a run, you play as one of 12 factions that decides your starting stats, resources, starting deck, starting artifact (an ongoing passive special power), and your special ability (an active ability with a short cooldown that costs mana). The roguelite meta-progression comes from unlocking additional factions (themed around elements or game mechanics), and filling out a passive tree that includes some very powerful bonuses (as well as a couple of negative nodes that make things more difficult). A run consists of 8 levels, the last one culminating with a showdown against the Doom Lord final boss, after which you can continue if you want to. Between levels, shop rounds offer multiple vendors with different ways to improve or modify your deck. Each level, you pick one of three locations (with an additional challenge for a prize) and one of three difficulties. Before battle you view the enemy lineup - each unit has different stats and typically a special power, strength, or weakness, and the enemy boss will arrive in the final wave, generally with an enormous amount of health and an ability you probably have to play around. Maps have one or more paths that converge into a single road to your base, with varying degrees of convolution. Tower sites may double the damage of particular elements, or require clearing before use; some towers and traps have positional effects. You will defend your base for 2 to 5 waves, drawing 3 cards from your deck and resetting your mana to 40 before each wave (you start with full mana and a hand of 5 cards with a mulligan for the first wave). Note that if you run out of cards in hand, you will have to wait for the next wave for more. If you run out of cards in your deck, you will need to survive until the next level for more - deck-thinning has its downsides. Deck vs Doom is a great game with a lot of variety for its very accessible level of complexity, and has attracted my attention more than other roguelites. My only complaint is for the interface to have some clearly marked hotkeys, especially for pausing and unpausing and using your faction power.
I have tried in the closed beta and the new version as well. I think the game excellently matches a roguelite with the tower defense genre. There is enough content for the price and futher more are being added. It's a perfect game for playing an hour or two and getting back to it after a few days. You can also do side-activities if you want meanwhile. I really enjoy this game and would recommend it to anyone, who wants to try something in either tower defense or roguelite
