Deck of Delirium is a PvE deckbuilding card game where you build your own misfit crew full of animals, pirates, animal pirates, pompous sailors, and even cultists to make your way through the perilous journey across the sea battling rogue pirates, sea monsters, and other uncanny enemies.
Revenue comes from in-game items and microtransactions, which our price-based model doesn't estimate. The player count below is how many people own it, not what they spent.

"Deck of Delirium" is a very badly made (and arguably unfinished) PvE card deckbuilder battler with a pirate theme and nothing else going for it (developers should probably try to be aware that games don't exist in a vacuum... this doesn't even come close to professionally developed deckbuilders). The graphics aren't great, almost like they were made with MS-Paint or "babby's first Wacom tablet". That's understandably a turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. You deserve better than compromises. The developer chose not to do the job of a real game developer and create meaningful bespoke levels, narrative based gameplay progression and so on. Instead, they decided that "Procgen IS content!" and lazily tried to use procgen algorithms to create infinite, samey, repetitive, soulless levels, because that's a lot less work. As a result of this poor decision, the game gets tired and repetitive almost immediately. Developers must learn that procgen is a terrible substitute for creating real content. It should not be used as "ez-mode" for content creation, as the developer tried to do here. On the matter of pricing and value for gamers, most "free" games on Steam aren't really free. There's often nasty mobile app cash shops, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of shady pricing schemes that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable, or something you might want to spend your time on. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 5 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.

This game and it's art were both super fun, I played through and beat all 3 started decks, and messed around with the deck builder for a while. All 3 decks have a completely different play-style, none were too difficult or too easy. This game honestly reminds me of the Exploding Kittens card game, I just wish there was more content. Something like being able to play as the enemy with their decks or something.

This game seems to be unfinished, unpolished and way too short. It is labeled as a rogue-like but this is a plain straight forward game. It lacks a lot of simple thigs that hurt the experience... It could be really funny and replayable game, but it is forgetful to the bone.
Its okay for one playthrough with one deck but after that it is just more of the same and what was fun is just ruined. If they expanded on it and added more events and stories it would be a different matter but it just doesn't have the feels. It kinda works if you use draft but this doesn't really feel like a roguelike. I beat the game with the first deck on the first run, after that it was just not fun anymore. Can I recommend it? Sure. But does it have any replayability after three rounds? Not really... Seriously I'm all for the game, and for a short play its fine but not expect more that a brief weird adventure.

The insanity mechanic triggers at max mana and makes your opponents stronger and do a special move, while SOME of your cards get stronger or even weaker. It's a an interesting way to implement what is essentially a timer. Enemies get introduced gradually, one by one, which also adds a sort of timer, as not dealing with them fast enough leads to a quick death. This tackles the problem of bad draws as you have some time to react before stronger enemies are revealed. I wouldn't mind seeing more of this in new games. The best part (if a small one) is the PROMOTE mechanic, where some cards get permanently upgraded into a stronger version if their conditions are met. I just loved seeing what the cards would become, and it acts as a mini quest during each battle. As said though, the content is quite small - there are a a few characters to play with, but all share the same deck of cards (in deckbuilder mode) and the enemies are always the same, so content dries up quick. That said, it's a good time waster, if only to to see how the new mechanics play out.
Favorite mechanics
• Promote mechanic that has cards upgrade themselves into stronger version if their conditions are met • Gradual introduction of enemies helps with bad draws and slow starts
The positive
+ Some of the new mechanics show promise
The neutral
* Low enemy variety and small card pool, which is only understandable because it's a free game
The negative
- Very slow animations
Conclusion:
Small free game that explores new ideas that have potential, but has low enemy variety and card pool. Recommended 7/10.
