This makes me sick!
DEATHTRIP is a frantic first-person shooter that fully embraces speed, chaos, and over-the-top action. Developed and published by Smoked Dev, the game throws players into a surreal dream-inspired world where survival depends on constant movement and relentless aggression. Rather than focusing on realism or narrative-heavy progression, it delivers an arcade-like experience centered on quick reflexes, stylish combat, and chasing ever-higher scores. From the moment gameplay begins, it becomes clear that the title is designed for players who enjoy adrenaline-fueled action and are willing to master its demanding pace. One of the game's most appealing qualities is its movement system. Every encounter encourages players to stay mobile, turning combat arenas into dynamic obstacle courses filled with danger and opportunity. Standing still is rarely an option, as enemies and hazards constantly pressure players to keep moving. This emphasis on mobility creates a satisfying flow where dodging attacks, navigating environments, and eliminating opponents become interconnected parts of the same challenge. The result is a shooter that rewards skillful execution and continuously pushes players to improve their performance. The weapon selection further reinforces the game's identity. DEATHTRIP intentionally avoids restraint, offering an arsenal that feels powerful, explosive, and incredibly satisfying to use. The developer openly embraces exaggerated game design, allowing weapons and abilities to feel stronger than what players might expect from a traditional shooter. Fortunately, this sense of power is balanced by the intensity of the opposition, ensuring that combat remains challenging despite the player's destructive capabilities. Every battle becomes a spectacle of fast reactions, flashy eliminations, and creative use of the tools available. Visually, the game distinguishes itself through its comic-inspired presentation and dreamlike environments. The colorful art direction gives the world a unique personality that stands apart from many modern shooters. Strange landscapes, exaggerated visual effects, and an abundance of stylized gore contribute to an atmosphere that feels both bizarre and entertaining. The visual chaos mirrors the gameplay itself, creating a cohesive experience where the aesthetic and mechanics support one another. Players looking for a conventional military or science-fiction shooter may find the style unusual, but those seeking something more distinctive will likely appreciate its creativity. A major component of the experience is the score-driven structure. Success is measured not only by survival but also by how efficiently and stylishly players perform. This design encourages replayability, as players are motivated to revisit stages, refine strategies, and achieve better results. The pursuit of higher scores adds a competitive edge that extends the game's lifespan beyond a single playthrough. Combined with ongoing updates that introduce additional content, weapons, and challenges, DEATHTRIP offers reasons for dedicated players to keep returning long after their initial sessions. The game's sense of humor also plays a significant role in shaping its identity. Its exaggerated warnings, playful tone, and self-aware presentation demonstrate that it never takes itself too seriously. This approach helps establish a unique personality and complements the absurd nature of the gameplay. While some players may find the constant intensity and eccentric style overwhelming, others will enjoy the confidence with which the game commits to its vision. Not everything will appeal to every audience. The lack of focus on story and the intentionally chaotic design may limit its appeal for players who prefer slower-paced experiences or more structured progression systems. The demanding gameplay can also be challenging for newcomers, especially those unfamiliar with movement-focused shooters. However, these elements are deliberate design choices rather than shortcomings, and they help define what makes DEATHTRIP stand out. Overall, DEATHTRIP is an energetic and memorable shooter that successfully delivers on its promise of high-speed action and arcade-style excitement. Its combination of fluid movement, powerful weaponry, distinctive visuals, and replay-oriented scoring system creates an experience that feels both challenging and rewarding. While its niche approach may not resonate with everyone, fans of fast-paced shooters and score-chasing gameplay will find plenty to enjoy in this ambitious and unapologetically chaotic adventure. I do agree that for this price the game doesn't have a lot to offer, but the aesthetic and soundtrack of the game is sooo sick it somewhat makes the price worthwhile for me. Considering the game still being in development with more stages and such, the price also seems like an early investment. The gameplay is pretty much not explained at all, which makes it hard to really get what's going on. But it's still fun in its own ways
movement feels so good
the game is a lot of fun and highly addictive. once you get the hang of it and get used to the visual overload (awesome), you can navigate pretty well. the game elements aren’t immediately clear at the start, but because of their simplicity, you quickly figure out what each element means. highly recommended!
fell in love with the game the moment i bought it, i love how overwhelming the sound design, visuals, and everything in between can be! my only issue with it is that i'm not exactly sure how the deathtrip mechanic works? beyond that though, i can definitely tell that this is a labor of love, and i cant wait to see any potential updates in the future! for sure going to play this more whenever i can! edit: i think i've found a bug where if i attempt to play on a poor internet connection/offline, the game crashes? hopefully something like an offline mode could be added! edit 2: thank you for adding an offline mode! cant wait to play it when my internet isn't doing great!!
this is what I imagine infusing 5 litres of Monster Energy into your bloodstream must feel like
Shoot skulls, get pills, bunny hop like a speed demon, survive until a door saves you
The gameplay is super neat. I love the leader board. I want there to be more replay value for the pricetag. hopeing for updates in the future. Just wanted to add that this game works great on steam deck. The menu system you have to use the touch screen but gameplay works flawless with the default controller
