For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. About
DeathOmen is more than just a psychological horror game, it's a deeply personal expression of my own emotional journey.
After dedicating myself intensely to my first game, Horror Story: Hallowseed, I found myself mentally exhausted and plunged into depression. In that dark period of 2022, I wrote a short yet profound story, something meant to invite reflection on life, death, and our fleeting existence. My goal wasn't to create a game that explicitly explained itself, but rather one where players could intuitively grasp the hidden meaning behind the narrative.
However, shortly after starting, I lost all motivation and abandoned the project completely. It felt like the story was destined never to be told. Then, after almost three long years, something within me reignited, a newfound desire to finish what I'd begun. Although the game's development was restarted, the story I so passionately wanted to share remained intact.
DeathOmen is intentionally brief, a psychological horror experience designed to immerse you in the disoriented mind of someone struggling to differentiate reality from illusion. My hope is that through playing, you'll not only feel immersed in tension and mystery but also connect with the deeper emotional truths that inspired this game's creation.
I share this openly, hoping that by understanding my personal journey, you might better appreciate the vision behind DeathOmen.

DeathOmen is a tightly scoped psychological horror experience that prioritizes mood, unease, and emotional resonance over mechanical complexity or length. Designed as a short, self-contained journey, the game drops players into a quiet, oppressive house and asks them to slowly peel back layers of fear and implication through exploration. From the outset, the experience is intimate and unsettling, trading grand spectacle for the creeping discomfort that comes from isolation, ambiguity, and the sense that the environment itself is watching you. The premise unfolds with minimal explanation, placing you inside a house that feels familiar yet wrong. As you move through dim hallways and sparsely furnished rooms, it becomes clear that the setting is more than a backdrop—it is a reflection of the protagonist’s fractured mental state. Rather than spelling out its story through exposition, DeathOmen relies on environmental details, subtle visual cues, and brief interactive moments to suggest themes of anxiety, trauma, and inner turmoil. This approach invites players to interpret meaning for themselves, making the horror feel personal rather than prescribed. Gameplay is deliberately slow and methodical, encouraging players to linger and absorb the atmosphere. Movement is simple, and interactions are limited to inspecting objects, triggering events, and performing a handful of routine tasks. There is no combat and very little traditional challenge, which reinforces a feeling of vulnerability. Any light systems that exist—such as sanity-related elements or minor management interactions—serve to deepen immersion rather than introduce mechanical pressure. The tension comes not from failing systems, but from anticipation and the fear of what might happen next. Sound design plays a critical role in sustaining dread. Ambient noises, distant creaks, and sudden audio stingers keep players on edge even when nothing is visibly happening. Silence is used just as effectively, creating long stretches where every footstep feels amplified and every shadow seems suspicious. When jump scares do occur, they are punctuated sharply, contrasting with the slow pacing to produce genuine moments of shock without overwhelming the experience with constant noise or chaos. Visually, DeathOmen opts for a grounded, understated presentation. The house is rendered with muted colors, tight spaces, and heavy shadows that obscure details and encourage imagination to fill in the gaps. Lighting is used strategically to guide attention and heighten unease, often revealing just enough to suggest danger without making it explicit. While the graphics are not extravagant, the cohesive visual direction supports the psychological tone effectively, proving that atmosphere can be more important than technical spectacle in horror. Narrative delivery remains intentionally ambiguous throughout. Pieces of the story are scattered and incomplete, allowing players to connect ideas rather than consume a clearly defined plot. This can be compelling for those who enjoy interpretive storytelling, as the game lingers in the mind after completion, prompting reflection on what was real, what was symbolic, and what was left unsaid. At the same time, players who prefer concrete answers may find the resolution abrupt or emotionally understated, as the game chooses implication over closure. The game’s short length is both a strength and a limitation. It respects the player’s time, delivering a concentrated burst of tension that can be completed in a single sitting without filler. However, once the experience concludes, there is little incentive to return, as its impact relies heavily on first-time uncertainty and surprise. This makes DeathOmen feel more like an interactive horror vignette than a fully replayable game, but one that is carefully paced to leave a lasting impression despite its brevity. Overall, DeathOmen succeeds as a focused psychological horror piece that understands the power of restraint. It does not aim to redefine the genre or overwhelm players with systems and lore, instead choosing to evoke fear through atmosphere, sound, and quiet introspection. For players who appreciate short horror experiences that emphasize mood, ambiguity, and emotional unease over action or complexity, it offers a tense and memorable descent into fear that lingers well beyond its final moments.
Titul slibuje noční putování v domě plném hrůz, boj se spánkovou paralýzou a celkově atmosférickou zkušenost z pohledu první osoby plnou lekaček a podivných událostí. When they changed the name of the teddy bear from "Teddy" to "Deady" I knew this was gonna be game of the year
I enjoyed the game for its creepy elements like the sounds, environments, and jumpscares. Some of the stuff is pretty random, like what the other players are commenting about of looking through security cameras to make money. You have to maintain your sanity bar, but it's not difficult to do so. I feel 2 minutes is plenty of time to get the job done. It makes sense why there isn't a sprint button.
This game was so scary, but so fun! Really excels at the psychological horror aspect through both visuals and sounds throughout the game. The story was intriguing, the puzzles/objectives weren't super hard, and the jump scares had me falling out of my seat. The story was immersive and overall I really loved everything about this game! Definitely recommend!!
I'm dead, so must write this review from the great beyaaawwnd! Great game. Great atmo and graphics. Played while exploring a lot and taking my time, total play time was 88 minutes. It was a little confusing at first, but once I figured out how to work the laptop, cameras, and door, the rest was pretty easy and straight forward. Game played fine on Linux. I'll be checking out the dev's other games for sure. Overall, I give Death Omen 3 out of 5 Vaporous Spirits, and a "Hershey Squirt" or two!
