About
Descend into the abyss, where every step confronts the darkness within.
DeAnima is a first-person dungeon crawler that resurrects the unforgiving spirit of the original Rogue for a modern audience. Set in a sprawling, medieval dungeon steeped in dark fantasy, you embody a lone wanderer seeking the fabled Crown of Nivek.
Classic Traditional Roguelike: Experience true permadeath, turn-based exploration, and randomized dungeons, heavily inspired by the game that started it all back in the 80s! Every run is a unique, merciless challenge.
First-Person Immersion: Navigate a medieval dungeon with moody visuals and an oppressive atmosphere, where every shadow hides a threat or a secret.
Tactical Survival: Face monstrous demons with scarce resources and tough choices. Progress by mastering your environment, not overpowering it.
Hidden Depths: Many secrets lurk in the darkness, offering paths to enlightenment or ruin. The dungeon’s truths are yours to discover.
Ever-Changing Dungeons: Explore procedurally generated labyrinths where no two runs are alike.
Unforgiving Permadeath: Every death is final, raising the stakes with each choice.
Mysterious Item Discovery: Master a deep identification system to uncover the secrets of 80+ unique items, including potions, scrolls, wands, rings, and bags.
Pure Roguelike Experience: No meta-progression - every run starts from zero, testing your skill and cunning.
Strategic Turn-Based Combat: Time pauses with your inaction, giving you the space to plan your next move or escape.
Weapon Enhancement: Enchant and Vorpalize your weapons to gain a deadly edge in the dungeon’s darkest depths.

Fun game, simple controls but seems to have a lot of hidden elements to it. Quite challenging so far. pumping up the reviews so it gets a score.
It's Rogue in first person with some neat easter eggs and caveats. Relaxing and with easy controls and an at times spooky atmosphere. Great with a cup of coffee and for longer sessions and made by one person. This seems perfectly tailored for people that want the Rogue experience but bounce off ASCII graphics while having less 'unwinnable' level/gear generation as well as some Nethack inspired content and tiles. You can't lose for ten bucks!
Don't be deceived by videos or screenshots that make this look like a real time action rogue-lite for button mashing babies; this is a classic turn based dungeon crawler with traditional rogue-like designs that will chew you up and spit you out if you're not careful. At first I found the dungeon graphics a little basic, but quickly came to appreciate the minimalist approach that reduces visual clutter and noise. It plays excellently with a game pad too, which was another pleasant surprise.

Great traditional roguelike. Underrated.
Just play it! Experiment!
Playing Rogue but as a 1st person dungeon crawl
A great traditional roguelike in 3D with plenty of content to explore and many classes to try. It plays very well with a controller. I’m having fun!
Fun for doing short dungeon runs.
The game offers you many opportunities for a fair fight, it is up to you to bravely avoid as many of them as you can. Also I just really appreciate how horrific everyone and everything in the dungeon looks.
